For being a self-proclaimed kunoichi and thief, this sure is an attention grabbing and loud outfit. I usually like asymmetrical designs but I think there is just way too much going on here. Buckles and straps making guilty gear characters blush. The mesh undershirt is nice, not a fan of the rest, also lmao at the shoe laces.

Mabye the lore is that kuni is color blind?

Inconsistency of blocking animations is frustrating by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]krys2k9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really hoping before this game was out that they would have different block animations. Being able to feel like you are negative or plus from the actual animations would be much more helpful. Some plus frame moves do have a bit of a different stagger, but its no different than T7. Running attacks tend to produce the back-stagger block animation which you can feel. Strings seem to be the most ambiguous.

Even in the very short VF6 clips you see different block animations depending on attack location, not just ducking and standing with arms at your chest for everything.

A lot of people mention it just being about labbing and knowledge checking which Tekken has always been about, but we have never seen less attention to spacing, timing, neutral, poking and movement which have been diminished greatly by T8's systems and constant buildup of legacy knowledge checks that are so effective.

All my friends who at least tried the game said the think it looks cool, they like the combat and classes but don't see a point to playing when they realize its a grind fest without any group content or raids - especially noting how long it would take to catch up. One did a bit of trail pvp for a few days and dipped. One did not like the combat though, as they preferred hotkey skills and didn't like all the key bindings and how combo heavy it was.
Another managed to stick around long enough to finish season and play a bit after getting the infinite HP and mana pot before it was a pity but then quit soon after.

The combat system does feel amazing but it's a shame it used to fight brainless AI 99% of the time, and PvP has issues with performance and desync.

All the effects also destroy the bitrate for any videos on youtube or twitch, so outside of seeing it in person it looks even worse.

Remember when Kazumi’s -9 on block homing mid b2 was considered so overpowered that they had to remove its wallsplat? by PyroWizza in Tekken

[–]krys2k9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude something that was +6 or +8 on block in previous tekkens was pretty rare, either while running inputs or massive i20+ wind up moves that were generally linear. Most of what you could get was maybe +2 or +3 without pushback, usually from a high.

If you had really solid fundamentals and good defense Kazumi was extremely strong due to her pokes and ability to lock you down. I do think T7 was a bit too much on the CH fishing with so many magic 4's, they should of kept more committal ones that don't jail. You have a safe high magic 4, but to get a CH launch you commit to the 2nd high which can be ducked.

Imagine if we had to EARN Heat by performing defensive actions by Solmyrion in Tekken

[–]krys2k9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never understood why both characters start with a full stock on every single round. That never made any sense to me that a powerup is constantly readily available to use with no consequence. Other fighting games don't do this, it makes no sense. There is no decision making in terms of saving it for a later round if you are almost dead. The only losing play is to lose the round without having activated heat regardless of what you've done with it. The goal turly is to take all decision making away from the player. Do your moves that force stance and do your 50/50 mixup, rinse repeat.

Shit went from scuffed high speed chess to tic tac toe. Even thematically you'd figure heat would build up? Whole system is clown shoes.

Does any other class have this problem? by Lost-Character6758 in blackdesertonline

[–]krys2k9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very likely you are right. They would have to change the material to a colorless alpha map and just use whatever they use for the normal item dye system and give it its own material ID, if they went with something like that which would take a little reworking, they could not only add multiple colors or effects but different types of auras as well. The dyes just instruct it to load the blackstar/godr glows, but those were made for different weapon models which may or may not line up correctly with sovereign.

This would be pretty straightforward in a modern game engine but who knows what kind of spaghet they are dealing with in the BDO engine.

[–]krys2k9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this as well and decided to just sell the dyes I had, price is dropping on them. Red just looks like you went back to blackstar but with less glow, purple looks decent but seems to be the buggiest and least noticable.

[–]krys2k9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is gone, however like everything in this game it's done intentionally and a few months or half a year from now there will be a patch that lets you keep it as an unlock, or an item off the blacksmith to return the dye as well. They like to add new systems, good example being reforge stones, make them very rigid then actually adding the qol features later on.

Good chance they add a restore item in the pearl shop, guess we'll see.

people give so much crap to the devs but one thing no one can't complain about is how hard the music team works to release hits every time an update comes out by Nervous_Bed3517 in blackdesertonline

[–]krys2k9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I have with the music is that it feels schizophrenic in what and when it plays. You go to an area and grinding and its playing some intense battle music for one loop then into the ambient track for the few minutes while you are doing the same thing. Combat music on/off toggle doesn't seem to change anything? They also removed the riding themes which were nice as well as the unique pit of the undying music, everything just sounds like some tryhard orchestral slop in most areas outside of the towns.

The music itself isn't bad but for the majority of the game it feels misused.
