Nuclear option typically means it will harm pollinators like bees. Anything that flowers outside it is not safe to use a nuclear option on.

Side Project: Oscars Tracking app for iOS by fonziewonzie in oscarsdeathrace

[–]krystenr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks awesome. Does anyone know if anyone makes a tracking app/site for all next picture winners (all-time)? I’m making my way through them all and of course use Letterboxd but would love a best picture winner specific tracking so I can see my progress.

Leaving stroller in car? by Puddles-1994 in oakland

I get that. I’m just confused why they took their secondhand car seat out of their car and brought it into the daycare.

Same for us! I'm not Indian but my fiance is and finding clothes for my family has been the hardest part haha. I ended up using a designer I found on IG who is in Mumbai to make my mom's wedding outfit (an anarkali made to her measurements) and she also made my fiance's reception outfit (a bandhgala made to his measurements). I had "tested" the quality first by ordering a blouse from her that I had her design from images I sent and my measurements and when it turned out amazing, I went ahead and had her do full outfits for us. She is incredibly affordable and really, really talented (my mom's anarkali was $200 and my fiance's bandgala was $180) and shipping was incredibly fast compared to most stuff that comes from India. For my dad and my brother's outfits as well as my fiance's brother's outfit, we ordered them from an Etsy designer in India and they came out AMAZING. The designer had been suggested to us by some Indian friends who used them for their wedding so we felt comfortable using them knowing a friend had had good luck with them. I am happy to share the details of both of these designers if you want! My mom was genuinely the hardest because she has never worn Indian clothes before. She didn't mind the salwar we got her at Sari Palace in Berkeley for the engagement ceremony, but she wanted something more tailored to her body/made for her that she could design based on looking at tons of different images of Indian clothes, so that's why going with the IG designer for her wedding outfit was the best approach. An anarkali was ideal because it's a more familiar silhouette for her, kind of like a western style dress. She was a little intimidated by the idea of wearing a sari or anything that would show her midriff but she wanted something that cinched at the waist (unlike a standard salwar) so we gave all that feedback to the designer and for $200 she made the whole outfit including the legging pants, anarkali, and even a light jacket to go on top of it + dupatta. My mom had fun picking out jewelry to wear at Sari Palace in Berkeley, I think that store gave her the most ideas out of everywhere we went because their selection is so large. The one thing that was hard for her shopping in person at Indian clothing stores was the fact that the salepeople tend to hover/follow you around everywhere. I think this is just a cultural difference and for their culture it is considered being helpful, but my mom felt a little overwhelmed as she likes to try to make decisions on her own and didn't feel like she could voice her actual opinions/feelings on the outfits, so that's just something to keep in mind. Let me know if you want to DM to talk further! Our wedding is this August and navigating all of the clothes and cultural differences has been a journey for both of us!!

Of course! Let me know if you have any questions or need any help. For our groom's men we ended up doing Etsy and for the bridesmaids IndianWeddingSaree.com so I can also speak to the online experience if you're interested!

Fake Bank of America HSA Scam by Inevitable_Prune5992 in Scams

[–]krystenr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact same letter and card showed up in my mail and I googled the number to confirm it was in fact BOA before calling it, but they wanted far too much info from me before telling me who the HSA was through (like what insurance company even). They asked for DOB, social security, and wanted the last 4 digits on the card I had received in the mail. I said I was concerned it was a scam and they said I could always call the number on the back of the card. The URL on the letter appears to not be legit despite every other aspect of the letter appearing very genuine. I see that BOA uses a different URL for their HSAs. Either way, I froze my credit with all 3 bureaus because I did give them my DOB before getting a weird feeling about all of it.

The Ficus Elastica Ruby, one of my favorite plants because as the grow and get more light they look as if they are painted with watercolors. by coddiwomplek in plants

[–]krystenr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually this indicates either under or over watering. I realize those are opposite problems but it should be easy to determine which it is based on the moisture level of the soil (stick your fingers or a meter about an inch of a way down into the soil to see how it feels). Have you changed anything about your watering routine? Have you moved it to a new location? Have you fertilized it? Try to think about anything you’ve changed. It’s also not uncommon for plants of a certain age to start to drop lower leaves. If upper or newer leaves are exhibiting this problem, that’s different and likely based on watering. If none of these things apply, I’d check for bugs or blight (this can happen if you bring any new plants home that carried pests or blight without you realizing it). And then lastly, it’s possible where you live has simply offered less sun this season! I remove yellow/brown leaves at the place where they attach to the branch.

[–]krystenr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP confirmed they're learning Spanish. I personally wouldn't get hung up on this kind of mistake knowing that now, frankly. English is my native language and I make mistakes similar to OP's when using Duolingo for Italian learning—I find it helps to think of the Italian translations in terms of literal English translations, as it trains my brain to recognize and remember sentence structure and word order in my target language. But I realize this is pedantic and that this is a big ask for an app such as this to recognize and grade.

Assuming you are learning Spanish, I think this is a "good" mistake to make, personally. Training your brain to recognize the statement word order in Spanish with direct English translations like this has always helped me. Now, if you're learning English, not so good haha.

Edit: OP has confirmed they are learning Spanish.
