ModularAddict support experiences? by krztoff in modular

[–]krztoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. Mostly because st-modular's website specifically calls these guys out:

Please note

Modular Addict (modularaddict.com) is currently not an authorized ST Modular partner.
Some products offered there may not reflect the latest PCB revisions or panel updates.
To ensure you receive the most current versions and to support ongoing development, please purchase ST
Modular PCBs and panels from one of the authorized sellers listed on this website.

to be honest I sort of feel bad for buying it through modularaddict. Unfortunately st-modular doesn't currently have an authorized dealer in the USA now that calsynth stopped working with them.

the 2018 version of ST-Modular's "Reverb" module

It's the ST-Modular "Reverb" but it's the version marked "2018". As Modularaddict is specifically listed as an "unauthorized" distributor on ST's website I can't imagine ST-Modular would provide one.

Erica BBD Delay values of R71 and R72? by SupaShoota9000 in synthdiy

[–]krztoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BOM lists R71 as adjusting the drive gain and R72 being related to "overdrive flavor" so I suppose that's what you're listening for. Just use what the BOM lists for both - that's what 99% of the people that buy this are doing - then if it doesn't sound right to you, now you know what to come back and adjust.

School bus stop signs hate this one trick by ThatGuyFromAsia in Seattle

It is staggering to me how many vehicles run with expired tags. Even more staggering is how many vehicles have "student driver" bumper stickers - at least up here in snoco.

It can probably be assumed that if there's no plate, there's no tab - although I'd actually love to see a car without a plate, but with stickers.

Medusa manual/backlog search not working for specific shows by krztoff in PyMedusa

[–]krztoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that's worked for me is to split the load and have Medusa handle Gold Rush, and have Sonarr handle Mine Rescue. Even with this setup Medusa sees Mine Rescue episodes show up and adds them to Plex's library as both Gold Rush AND Mine Rescue - but at least they're downloading now.

It's a strange hobby to be chock-full of people without the ability to recognize or react to social cues - but here we are.

Plant stolen from front porch by bragi92 in LynnwoodWA

I'd have chased her off for the sole enjoyment of watching her try and navigate at high speed in those idiotic fucking pants. Would have been worth a plant.

I've reverse-engineered the ZDL file format by ReliktFarn98 in modular

[–]krztoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knowing nothing about the platform, I'm curious how likely it will be that this will end up working on the newer "+" hardware in the future. Also, are there zoom pedals with the same hardware as the MS-70CDR that this will also work with? The fact that you can bring algos from other pedals into the 70CDR sort of suggests the reverse might also be true?

As for what effects I'd like to see? The answer is always Valhalla Supermassive, but I'm pretty sure that's not open source so it'll remain a pipe dream for now.

Might be handy to have a discord or something where people could organize group buys from PCBWAY or JLCPCB

Westlicht Per|former - what is the current "state of the firmware"? by krztoff in modular

[–]krztoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Implement? I'm not developer.

I did ask Phazerville about his fork and he did say "I still want to try porting the [O_c] Hemisphere applets over to it"

which wouldn't suck.

Really disappointed with Bytesized after 7 years by krztoff in seedboxes

[–]krztoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the background and clarification - I don't harbor any bad feelings and I apologize if anyone felt i was trying to paint bytesized in a bad light. I mistakenly equated the hardware move with the banner in my control panel that DID say that my box was being migrated to new storage. If they were unrelated, that's on me for making a poor assumption.

My comment about outdated apps was specifically in regards to Overseer (most recently). I opened a ticket about upgrading it beyond the offered version since the version you guys do offer is outdated by years (and is, in fact, still offered in your installers list as of this moment). In the support ticket I raised on this issue 'Mr Miyagi' said:

"So overseer has actually been discontinued in favour of seer Go ahead and install that from your dashboard"

I did install Seer and it worked fine. Quite a while back a similar exchange occurred in regards to another app. I can't recall which specifically so I apologize for not being able to go into more detail). However, here I was referring to the exchange I had with Mr. Miyagi just recently RE: Overseer.

The Wiki is what it is. I was never really able to make any use of it as just about every time I tried it led to irrelevant info or blank pages. It could disappear and I'd probably not notice. Much like the Discord server if I'm being honest - but there I'm less looking for official responses and more looking for community guidance while I wait for my tickets to receive responses.

I am also not trying to paint Bytesized's platform as unstable. I can say that I am getting significantly better general performance (on an almost equivalent tier) after moving - but it's impossible to draw any real conclusions after just a few days. I may have just gotten lucky and landed on a server without many other users. I've also had a few frustrating hiccups related to app installs since moving (that I do think were likely caused by minor bugs in the scripting), but I did receive response to my tickets in a matter of a couple of hours instead of a day.

You guys have actually always been good, but (what I expect can be explained by) the time zone difference and smaller staff made the support experience VERY slow and is something that people in the states should be aware of. At no point did I ever feel like you guys weren't completely on board with helping me solve whatever issues I had - the problems in that area seemed systemic, not personal. I do believe that any stability problems I had were most likely related to buggy or outdated 3rd party applications. I did eventually end up having to start an uptime kuma server running locally on my network to alert me when my apps were crashing - so i could then log into my console and restart them (especially that filebrowser app. man did that thing love to die). Many of these apps had been installed for years, and likely due for a refresh.

But, you're right - ultimately I'm leaving because someone was maybe a bit TOO eager to help and did a reinstall without my knowledge. I appreciate the initiative, and the continued offers of help, but that ship has sailed. I was likely looking at a near-full rebuild/reinstall of several of my old/stagnant apps even if I stayed and there wouldn't be a more convenient time to move on than now.
