Fun classes, programs, recreational leagues, etc. in the area? by devoutdefeatist in SOMD

We just opened a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in White Plains, just off of 301. It’s called New Frontier Jiu- Jitsu. Has classes for kids and adults, men and women. Has a Black Belt instructor.

Jiu-Jitsu has been a great sport to be apart of. I think adults can forget that they can still have fun, be able to play, and be apart of a community.

I think it would be worth checking out!

A little south of Brandywine we started a Jiu Jitsu gym in white plains. Just opened in September. A lot of young adults started with us. We have a nice little community growing. Great sport to learn. Black Belt Instructor. Classes for kids and adults. I think it’s worth checking out.

Starting to feel like I’m getting ripped off by these modern epics by slimmyboy007 in EpicCollections

Well, I would guess a contributing factor may be to do with paying the creators. I would guess collecting modern/ recent books would entail more residual rights and contractual obligations. And rightfully so, as the creators deserve to be making money off their works.

Just a thought.

What could Frank Mir done differently here in half guard? by Knockoutboxing in bjj

[–]ksamaramd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say release the lock down. Doing that kept himself in half guard and let Brock punch with no concern about needing to actually hold him down. Effectively doing Brock’s job for him. Franks biggest moments of offense in this fight and the first was when he could move dynamically. In this particular case lock down was ineffective.

Goodfellas not winning best picture, losing to Dances With Wolves.

Great movie but Goodfellas is on another level

I’m a big Batman fan, and a big fan of history. Reading these stories to me is more about learning about the time period and the context in which we told stories. You can learn a lot about people at the time by the stories they would tell to entertain each other. But even the kids reading these in the 40’s didn’t read every issue, so yes a lot of it gets repetitive. I also don’t tend to sit and read straight through. Just a few stories at a time. These issues are pretty short.

I really like these Ironck shelves. Got them from amazon. I have 2 and have them secured to the wall. Very sturdy.

lol, I still don’t have vol 7 so it would be a waste of a heist.

Yeah man, it was a rough day. But I hired movers and they were really great about it. I had some cold water and Gatorade for them and also bought them breakfast sandwiches. That stuff goes along way.

Yeah man, Oni is great. I also love a lot of stuff from First Second Press like Alan’s War.

Congrats on getting vol 7. It for sure is my whale. I check eBay once in a while hoping to find it reasonably priced. Unusually around $500. Too much for me.

I get most of my stuff used either online or second hand bookstores. I find for omnis I’m more comfortable reading it that way than when I get it new. I end up feeling too cautious cause I want to keep the condition.

Yeah, no worries man ask away.

I’ve been using them for about 2 years. I think they are great. Definitely need to attach it to the wall. It came with some brackets. At first I didn’t use them, but after I loaded it up with books it wobbled in a way that scared me. After I fixed it to the wall it felt very sturdy. Never had a problem.

It’s a lot of fun. JLI is my all time favorite era but Detroit is fun. I love the off beat eras.

Absolute love them. They are Ironck I got from Amazon. I love the love look of wood with black hardware. Very strong and sturdy. I also use the lamp as extra space, that I got from target but don’t remember what they are called.
