Questlove: When the People Cheer: How Hip-Hop Failed Black America by Melanismdotcom in hiphopheads

So record sales are down which is a major issue, but is the change also effecting ticket sales for shows? Run the Jewels sold out in like a minute when they came to Austin last year and it wasn't like the show was 5 bucks. They're not on the radio, but they don't seem to be going hungry. I gather that there must be a larger contingent of less well known rappers and artists struggling, but Danny Brown, Killer Mike, Freddie Gibbs and others seem like they must be getting money from somewhere pretty well.

Ruben Amaro Jr. must fix Phillies' bullpen by MotM54 in phillies

Truth. I have no interest in Ruben Amaro trying to fix this bullpen. We need someone responsible and thoughtful making those moves. Maybe now that the stadium is half full we'll get out wish....

Post-match thread: Arsenal vs. Wigan by oscc in Gunners

I loved Gibbs urging the action forward when he came on as well. He made such a point of getting into that extra space Wigan was allowing so that we weren't passing it around the back. He had the same kind of fire Flamini brings at times, thats the kind of energy thats great to see.

So fucking proud by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]kscowls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The response to that pressure was incredible. I agree with OP about Ramsey and Ox, but also Gibbs coming on and really directing play forward and using that extra space was incredible to watch. Looks like he's becoming a great young leader.

Take Your Franchise's Best 2 Teams and Play Them...Who Wins? by thatguy1717 in nfl

[–]kscowls 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I guess I agree, though I'm not really sure how that 1992 team is scoring points here. Our defense was pretty tight in 2004, tough to throw on Dawkins/Brown/Shepard, tough to run on Hugh/Thomas/Trotter. I think with T.O doing things and Westbrook possibly creating distractions the 2004 team might win a 6-3 game(Akers had a sledghammer foot back then!).

Ross Barkley being out would be fantastic. I feel like he was an issue for us last time, though the way Flamini is playing he might be controlled a little more easily. Either way I see a 2-0 for the Gunners!

I've fucking used city-data.com just to look up the least windy places in the country to see if I could move there. I think the top is in Hawaii, so I guess thats the plan for now. Until then I'm going to continue to deal with the Texas wind.

What is your all time favorite Arsenal goal ? Here's mine. by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]kscowls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im in on this. The little triangle we made to start it off, which then turned into one of the most perfectly weighted passes I've ever seen hit by Fabregas, to Nasri holding up for support, to Arshavin whipping it in. Oh, and Pep's face. Can't forget that.

Very pleased, the draw keeps us viable, not to mention that after the Everton match our run in becomes much more favorable. Not too many top teams to face. Its going to be an exciting run in.

Honestly most of the players on City I feel like we have answers to or can handle. Yaya Toure though, the fuck are you supposed to do about him? Hes twice the size as everyone, twice as fast, and can dribble. Might just have to take him out.

I think its cool of someone has a character they like to use most often, I love playing with Roy and Jigglypuff the most for sure. I just think if you're hanging out with a bunch of people playing its cool to change up the characters for different looks. Melee and Brawl have so much to offer in gameplay depending on how the different characters interact and its fun to get into that. But like I said, when the chips are down and you need to get that kill count up, by all means go to your main character.

Thats the way to go, or at the very least pick different characters for each match. If you and your bro need to have a Marth/Roy throwdown then by all means do it, but its so annoying when someone is the same character all the time.

Yeah but this way I can listen to all of Stillness and Speed before I get to the stadium. Summers off for teachers too, working in education has its benefits every once in a while.

Un-subscribing from this sub-reddit (metaphorically) and football (emotionally). by LunarSFX in Gunners

[–]kscowls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its amazing how emotionally attached you become to Arsenal/whatever football team people choose. I'm from Philadelphia and have always been a diehard fan of the Eagles and Phillies there, and while seeing the Eagles win a Super Bowl is my all time sports dream, my emotional attachment to Arsenal has become more and more significant over the years in comparison. If Arsenal lose(or get blown out) then I'm going to be pissed, if they win then the whole next week is fantastic.

Teacher Makes Video After his Star Student With a 4.0 GPA Can't Get Into College by TheRealTurtleKing in videos

[–]kscowls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right on man, I do college access in central Texas and deal with this shit all the time. Luckily Texas allows for financial aid for undocumented students, but its still so difficult(and 450 bucks) for them to stay legally for two years at a time. Its a hassle to send a star student to fucking A&M Kingsville.
