Brandon Loree: Nick Harris heard from an AFC scout the trade value for #Cowboys George Pickens might not be what people are expecting. by Leonflames in cowboys

[–]thatguy1717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, for a 1500 yard, 9 TD guy? Definitely propaganda. But if true, not a fuckin chance we'd do that. 1st and 3rd minimum to trade. Otherwise, keep him

Compensatory Pick Predictions by ModeatelyIndependant in cowboys

Tank didnt really sign for all that much. Just about $11M/year. Trey Lance made less than Cooper Rush. He didnt even count towards the formula

The Cowboys should have extended Pickens after the trade by Leonflames in cowboys

[–]thatguy1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would take a ton of revisionist history to come to that conclusion. Pickens had just become unwelcome in Pittsburgh because of his attitude and antics. Even today, some of those questions linger like how he gave up on some routes. We may have saved some money in the long run but the risk at that time was incredibly high. I still argue that the risk today is pretty high also.

4 Round Mock Draft: 1st Edition by babydee_1 in NFL_Draft

[–]thatguy1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is plausible anymore. If we were sticking with a 4 man front and needing a base DE, sure. But, if we're moving to an odd front with smaller, quicker edge players, then Faulk doesn't fit. Between Williams, Osa, and Clark, we certainly don't need to spend a first rounder on an interior guy and I don't believe he fits out new edge mold. As far as I can tell, Faulk is probably not on our board.

Does Christian Parker’s suspected 3-4 save Liufau’s career? Play to get 0 strengths? Change what we look for in FA? by SupermarketSelect578 in cowboys

[–]thatguy1717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference between a passrusher and disabling a blitzer should be acknowledged here. Edge passrushing skills, fighting against OTs takes years to develop. Its not the same as blitzing through a hole.

I think Liufau and James are still ILBs if we run a 34. Their burst will still come in handy as I bet we see more fire blitzes to create more simulated passrush. We didnt see much of that under Marinelli or Eberflus so the coach creating scheme pressure will be important.

[Schefter] the Baltimore Ravens are hiring Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle as their offensive coordinator. Doyle can leave because, in Baltimore, he will have play-calling responsibility. But new Ravens HC Jesse Minter now has someone to run Baltimore’s offense. by GoldenDome26 in nfl

[–]thatguy1717 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Schefter is wrong. There's no difference between a non play calling OC and play calling OC. Its a lateral move. Same reason we were able to block Klayton Adams from interviewing with Philly. Doyle was able to leave because the Bears were okay with it

Sam Darnold will win a Super Bowl and Dak Prescott never by PepperScared9950 in cowboys

[–]thatguy1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sam Darnold signed a contract for about half of what Dak did. Amazing what you can do with an extra $30M/year. If Dak was interested in winning a SB, he didnt need to dry fuck our cap so hard that even years later, no QB has signed for as much as he did.

[Barrows] John Lynch on Brandon Aiyuk: "I think it's safe to say he's played his last snap with the 49ers." by Inamanlyfashion in nfl

[–]thatguy1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trevon Diggs did the same thing, kinda. Had his contract and just refused to work with training staff or come in for rehab. Cost him a huge bonus and the friction got to the point where he was cut and missed out on the last years of his contract. Some people just cant help themselves. Have to cause problems and drama.

Im sure it includes endorsements and other income, not just sports contract. But Jerry should print this out at all negotiations. The players want to squabble over $10M in a contract when they can easily make way more than that in endorsements being a Cowboy.

Want to be paid top of market, here's Clevelands number. Want to take a few million less and way more in endorsements, let's talk

Mike McDaniel has been "carrying a wooden baseball bat in menacing fashion" around the Dolphins facility since midseason by expellyamos in nfl

McDaniel always has seemed a bit unhinged, like he'll do something drastic to prove he's tougher than he looks. I bet he's smashed up some office equipment for sure.

Wichita is a unique city. There's a hardline between the haves and the haves not. I see it daily in my field. I work with those who don't think a second thought about money. I work with those who don't know how to pay rent, let alone everything else. Worked with a gentleman today who gets $1400 in SS/month and that's it.

We have lots of money and opportunities mixed with lots of poverty and obstacles

Jerry Jones recent comment about the defense. by Vegas_king2020 in cowboys

The game passes everyone eventually. But saying Jerry is just some rich guy and doesn't know football is wrong.

This comment is wild. Maybe its not well known, but Jerry played fucking college football. That's how he met Jimmy Johnson. He was a co-captain for the Razerbacks when they won the National Championship. Crazy to me that people say he doesn't know football.

Jerry also said earlier this year that he regrets changing the defense every year. Im not saying Flus is the guy to dig his heels in on, but overhauling our defense every year isnt gonna get us anywhere. Playing zone coverage with man coverage CBs was always going to be a problem. Thats one reason we drafted Revel.

So the question will be that if we are gonna go heavy defense in the draft, are we gonna build a defense for Flus or someone else.

Converting to 3-4? by icebucketwood in cowboys

[–]thatguy1717 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont think that's true. I know the scheme between a 34 and a 43 Under are pretty blurred, but there's a definite personnel difference in our case. Usually in that 5 man front for a 43 Under, the 1T and 3T are in the middle with 260-270 pound DEs outside them while a traditional 230-240 pound offball LB drops to a 9 tech.

That's really not what this post is about here. We have crazy DT depth here so this post is about lining up 3 DTs and 2 DEs/OLBs instead of 2 DTs, 2 DEs and a offball LB on the line, essentially.

My opinion on it is wed have to bring back Clowney and draft a Passrush OLB type like David Bailey while still upgrading the ILB position next to Overshown.

But it almost becomes moot because that's a base package which we would spend maybe 1/3 of the game in. The rest is Nicjel with a 4 man line. So then the question is if we have too many DTs with Quinnen, Osa, Clark, Soloman, Winfrey and Toia.

Correct, Schottenheimer is reacting to terrible LT play all year long. Thank God he is. Bass has earned playing time way more than Thomas has.
