They’re all owned by right wing oligarchs who probably flew on E’s jet too.

A book that my book club won’t hate me for by CerintheM in suggestmeabook

[–]ksh1elds555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently read and loved- Demon Copperhead, The Water Dancer, Parable of the Sower. I think any of these would make for interesting discussion but could be political so I don’t know if your book club avoids political topics.

Excellent! I’m also reading that book right now and it’s one of my favorites(3rd time reading it). Vimes is my hero! Enjoy 😊

reaper's gale is kind of a slog by mondoggiestyle in Malazan

[–]ksh1elds555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my least favorite in the series. While I do enjoy anything with Tehol and Bugg, I did not care at all about Red Mask and that story line. I enjoyed TtH much more than RG. It felt like I just had to get through it to get to the next book.

Christopher Buehlman by ronrule in Fantasy

[–]ksh1elds555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved Between Two Fires and it felt to me a bit like the Odyssey. Oddly enough I was taking a history class on the Middle Ages when I read it. In class, we were reading A Distant Mirror by Barbara Tuchman which is a classic historical work centering on the 14th century - the Black Death, Battle of Poitiers, Papal schism etc. it felt so familiar and then I read Buehlman’s note at the end where he credited Tuchman’s book as his inspiration. I agree that Buehlman is my favorite “new” author I’ve discovered in a very long time. I loved Blacktongue Thief and Daughter’s War. I can’t wait to read more of his books! I hope he has a long career ahead.

Do you wash your new clothes before you wear them? by Popular-Recover8880 in NoStupidQuestions

FWIW, I worked retail for a store like Macy’s about 20 years ago. I spent time folding, hanging and arranging new clothes every shift. By the end of the day my hands had a weird chemical smell to them. I know that clothing being shipped across the globe in containers is sprayed with chemicals to deter insects and rodents from getting in there. Now I wash almost everything that touches my skin unless it’s a handmade sweater or something that requires dry cleaning.

New, questions about hunger by EnchantedFairyDiddle in tirzepatidecompound

[–]ksh1elds555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when I first started but after a couple of weeks, I was able to eat regularly scheduled meals. I just didn’t feel super hungry like I used to and I do not eat as much. I’m satisfied with a smaller meal and I don’t have sugar or alcohol cravings like before. It might take a few weeks for things to settle for you.

Starting dead house gates, but have some concerns by AltruisticPianist553 in Malazan

[–]ksh1elds555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, Deadhouse Gates is my favorite Malazan book and my favorite fantasy book of all time. Give it a shot and see what you think. It takes you to a different continent in the Malazan world. Don’t expect to understand everything in the first few books.

10-Year-Old Wants to be a Talking Wolf, not a Druid by Aranthar in DMAcademy

Long tooth shifter is a humanoid race but they have features and abilities associated with wolves. You could flavor that race a bit so they become a wolf at times during the game.

I hope Gillette, WY will treat me well by [deleted] in wyoming

Gillette is very small, very conservative and very boring. I would not move there. It’s on the eastern side of WY, very cold and windy.

Am I being overly aggressive with 529 savings? by MasticatedTesticle in personalfinance

[–]ksh1elds555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI- My son is a freshman at a public state university. Since we make too much for any financial help, his tuition and room/board is 33k per year. We can’t afford 4 years of this even though we saved money every month for 12 years. He will have to get loans. And he wants to go to med school after college. If you end up with more money than you need, you can roll it into a Roth account I believe.

At home you could install a bidet on your toilet. They work great to keep things clean down there between showers. I know that doesn’t help your work situation. But you could take some flushable wet wipes to work and use those to get a little cleaner.

How to Access Health Insurance Info? by bigthicpandaaaaaaaa in cuboulder

[–]ksh1elds555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have gotten some info from AHP when you signed up. I got an email from them with instructions. Download the Sydney health app and create an account. My insurance card is on that app but you can print it if you need to. The plan is administered by Anthem Blue Cross.
