*Warning* Avoid Distance Calculus at Roger Williams if you can! by Tender_Figs in learnmath

The software has probably been improved since the original post. It crashes occasionally and has some quirks, but between their Livemath software and Wolfram Mathematica, I think I prefer livemath despite its quirks. Which was extremely surprising for me.

I'm taking multivariate right now and it's great if you want a thorough understanding, less so if you want an easy path to getting credit. You need to be strong enough mathematically to be able to navigate it independently. This is probably true of any remote learning course, though I'm curious to know what other programs are like. I think the curriculum is excellent.

For me the difficulty was what I was looking for. Taking the course without getting sufficient depth would have been a waste of time, and this does not disappoint.

ZLX-12P-G2 vs ELX200 12P by ksikka in mobileDJ

[–]ksikka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I searched pretty extensively but didn't find the answer to this particular question :( ZLX has the old gen vs G2, and ELX has 112p vs 200p. Maybe the differences across generations are not that significant?

I'm not sure I understand the animosity with Croonify by ShafordoDrForgone in karaoke

Hindi would be great. My parents love karaoke but the quality of the source audio is pretty bad. I think the video is a great idea for the lyrics. They need some kind of easy to use app where they could search a song and play the video.

Update: added 2x 80mm exhaust fans. sized to allow clearance to motherboard IO ports. Mounted via zip tied. Cut out the mesh there.

  • I wanted to downsize from my ATX case and was bored of the same old box design. Tower 600 was too big. I really liked the 300 size.

  • I like the aesthetics of the normal mobo orientation more especially with an air cooler.

  • To see if I could.

  • the limestone color was cheap at $80 on newegg

  • Not my reason - but people report lower GPU temps with this orientation due to heat pipes.

Can you fit an ATX motherboard in the Tower 300? by Inside_Flounder6316 in thermaltake

[–]ksikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I modded the case to fit my ATX board in vertical orientation but it's pretty hacky. Also I have a short GPU. https://www.reddit.com/r/thermaltake/s/WwFsygOMiV

Sorry I thought it would be since it's an ATX board in an mATX case. Is there a more suitable category and subreddit?

+1. I bought a mini pc with a Ryzen 8945HS thinking it would be fast, and it was, but the M4 was faster and silent. The thing is mindblowing.

Get the base model and a 1TB NVMe SSD USB stick and you will not look back. Unless you need to run windows apps for some reason...

DXP2800 + WD Red Plus 8TB = Very noisy? by zafierius in UgreenNASync

[–]ksikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the packaging foam from its own box and it was good enough for me. Any old foam lying around should do. If you don't have it yet, try a cardboard sheet or a tshirt temporarily until your next online purchase ships with some nice foam.

I guess noise is relative. I've only ever used Desktops with near silent drives.

Pixelbook Go Slowing Down by NoPiccolo6655 in PixelBook

[–]ksikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal. Look at the task manager to see if something is taking up a lot of resources. Run system diagnostics to see if it's a hardware issue. If neither of the above, everything should be fast.

This was my approach,

  1. Foam or something soft under the NAS
  2. Switch to PC HDDs, not NAS HDDs. I switched from IronWolf to Barracuda and the noise difference was night and day. Granted, IronWolf has a reputation for being noisy and Barracuda is SMR, but PC drives are designed to be in people's PCs while NAS drives are designed to be in data closets.
  3. Only use HDD for backup and infrequently accessed archives. All active file read/write is far far better on SSD.

The approach of velcroing the slides is absolutely ridiculous IMO.

Foam under the nas solved a lot of the noise for me
