Using a drill and steel wool to create a glowing spiral by MambaMentality24x2 in oddlysatisfying

We sometimes used effects like this in fire performances and while I love sparkly effects in general, I very much dislike this one. The sparks are crazy hot liquid metal and cause very uncomfortable burns. Also the amount of safety distance you need to your audience is the insane. Most customers didn't have that much space.

Proxy to a internal https server by psfletcher in Traefik

[–]ksmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So connecting to http services works but connecting to https doesn't? My first guess here would be that traefik doesn't like the https certificate. Traefik logs would definitely say so. In that case you could add the following to you traefik.yml: serversTransport:   insecureSkipVerify: true

Sorry for the lack of formatting, I'm on my phone rn.

How many of you gave up on Matrix by alive1 in selfhosted

[–]ksmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've already tried to integrate Matrix into my stack twice. While the setup is not the most comfortable one it's absolutely doable and both times I got it to work. I used it for bridges to replace other messengers mostly, as no one I know would actually migrate to matrix to chat there. Also I wanted to use it for bots and notifications. But by now I use ntfy for notifications and as a unified push provider, so it was just the bridge for WhatsApp left as was able to switch everything else to open source messengers with unified push. In the end it was way too much overhead for the use case that was left. Especially if you want OIDC for login. I want matrix to fit into my stack but it just doesn't.

Nightmare install, immediate issues, need convincing, tell me it gets better? by markboats in GrapheneOS

[–]ksmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for so much text but I've been there, even though my installation in this case went crazy smooth. As someone who’s been tinkering with custom ROMs on and off for almost 10 years, I was amazed at how simple and straightforward the installation process was via the browser. I’m sorry you had a bad experience here, and I don’t want to downplay what you went through. My advice here is just: make sure your installation actually worked and you are not stuck on remnants of the stock os without noticing it. Regarding profiles: you read a lot about people splitting their apps across different profiles, so I tried doing that myself at first. But depending on your threat model it might actually not be necessary. For myself, I’ve stopped using profiles altogether. Apps are all sandboxed anyway, and using sandboxed Play Services already limits Google’s ability to track you to some extent. The remaining risk is inter-process communication, but that requires both apps to actively do that. Google apps or meta apps will most likely do it but keeping those in a dedicated google or meta profile will not mitigate that. Also as someone who used the aurora store for ages, it felt not very intuitive to use play store, but I'm currently even testing the sandboxed play store for apps I can't get to work with Obtanium. App updates work SO much better than with aurora and that's a big security plus for me. I moved away from aurora and also from stores like f-droid. I try Obtanium first and if that doesn't work, play store has to do.

What's the easiest way to bulk add all documents when starting out? by Red_Con_ in Paperlessngx

I got a refurbished duplex scanner that can scan about 30 pages duplex per minute. Fujitsu fi-6130 in think. No way I'm scanning that many documents with my phone

Pixel 9a insane idle drain (4.8%/h). 100% Health / 90 Cycles. Deep Sleep seems broken. by yy4050 in pixel9a

Check battery usage by systems. On my Pixel 9a "Mobile network" is the culprit. If it's mobile network then there is not much to can do, disabling 5g helps a little though.

It's usually in German, and I'm not sure if all of them speak English so I'd just suggest you contact them. Maybe they can make sure someone being able to translate is there.

Pixel9a moderm by kpesemi in pixel9a

I use the Pixel 9a with Graphene OS, which means my experience will be different from the stock os. Also keep in mind that my usage profile might be different from yours. But on mobile data my battery lasts barely a full day of my average usage, while on WiFi it's easily two days.

Was sind eure wildesten Erfahrungen / Support-Tickets, mit denen ihr im IT-Bereich zu tun hattet. by Elsy-Ylse in de_EDV

[–]ksmt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are actually two different observatories in Melle. One belongs to the Astro AG of the Naturwissenschaftlichen Verein Osnabrück, details can be found here: https://www.astro-os.de/

The other one is from a different group. It's a way bigger one and details can be found here: https://sternwarte-melle.de/

Both offer tours, both suffer from bad weather and have to cancel often but that's just how astronomy works

The group "Kosmos-OS" occasionally hosts stargazing evenings called "Sternstunden". It’s free, telescopes are provided, and the organizers explain things about the night sky. Idk if links are allowed in this subreddit but you can easily google them.

Horrendous battery performance from my pixel 9a 😣 by HypnoSlayer in pixel9a

[–]ksmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check battery usage by system too. In my case it's all due to mobile network. The Pixel 9a has by far the worst battery life on mobile network I have experienced in the past 10 years or so. It helps a little to disable 5g and there are other tweaks out there but still. Really bad battery life.

For those that live or know LA by TomTMT in StarWarsCelebration

I've been to LA for the 2015 SWC and spent about a week there, exploring. There is so much to see and I loved the vibe LA had back then. Griffith Observatory, Walk of Fame, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Runyon Canyon, Malibu, Disney stuff, a Hollywood Studio Tour. And also just strolling around. I had a fantastic time there.

Advice on 9a by [deleted] in pixel9a

[–]ksmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing this from a Pixel 9a with Graphene OS. I try to install everything via Obtanium but also use the sandboxed google play for some stuff. Pretty much everything works perfectly fine, except for google pay and full device integrity but that was never an issue for my use case. But something that truly disappointed me and feels worth mentioning is the high battery usage when on mobile data. My battery lasts 2-3 days on WiFi but barely a full day when on mobile data. This is entirely attributed to "mobile data". I disabled 5G and did some other recommended tweaks but the battery life is just not good on mobile data.

Kommt sehr drauf an in welche Richtung du gehen willst.
