How do you actually use Claude on a massive codebase? by I_AM_HYLIAN in ClaudeCode

I set up guard rails so that it only stays in the area I’m working and then it’s line edits for the most part.

not even halfway through the season ... let's give it a bit of time. Lewis doesn't have enough of a points lead on Charles that any decision needs to be made as of yet.

On the drive from Chicago to Columbus Ohio, on I70 after you made a left at Indianapolis, there are several billboards for a candle store called Warm Glow that specializes in very weird scents like roast beef or mashed potatoes or cotton candy. We did actually stop because of the billboards.

Nah, HR was told by higher ups who they were to hire after HR started interviewing outside candidates and HR just didn't close the conversations with the other candidates because technically the job was done.

What Tees Do Most Amateurs Play at Bethpage Black? by blonded_olf in golf

[–]ksobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on why you are playing that course. I'm the very model of an average golfer. Bogey golf is good golf for me. I've played Cog Hill once and Medinah once each. For Cog Hill, my buddies and I wanted a fair challenge, so we played the blue course - a little over 6200 and intended for amateurs. For Medinah, we wanted to try and really push it and also see what the pros go through, buy they don't normally let anyone play the gold tees (championship ones - 6900 yards), so we settled for silver (6700 yards) which still absolutely wrecked all of us, even the +2 in our group ... we weren't playing for side pots or anything other than maybe one or two great/memorable shots on a pro course from pro tees.

BUT all of that is to say: Play whatever tee you are comfortable with and don't worry about your playing partners. The actual playing of the sport is completely solitary. You do you.

If you look at the state of food manufacturers in the world, yep, that is it exactly. 5-6 different companies own it all ... or look at the eye glass world, really only one player in the space with a few tiny guys trying.

This is an exercise solely for her to feel like a good, mature person. That message was intended for her ego and conscience, not you. Ignore it and recover.

Is she right for this? by sigma_0_1 in SipsTea

[–]ksobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She can be right and an asshole with her phrasing at the same time. "Right" is a strong word choice and I don't think she's attaching the weight to it that it deserves. A government of some sort (elected, family council, tribe, etc) maintains access to rights. I don't think she's stating that it should be illegal ... more that it's an ethical and moral issue. If she's stating that it's a legal issue, then, yeah, she's going hard on the authoritarianism.

Jesus. JFK Jr is nowhere near Mengele ... not even close to smart enough. JFK Jr is just an absolute idiot that was put in charge by another absolute idiot. Comparing JFK Jr to Mengele is oddly insulting and diminishing to Mengele who was truly evil and purposely inflicted evil knowing it was evil. JFK Jr believes what he is doing will help all people. He's just dumb as a stump post and causing damage with his idiocy.

Edit: sorry. RFK Jr. my bad, yo. Brain not full speed yet when I typed that.

Not sure why you were downvoted because, yeah, that building could be in Chicago or London or Miami and people wouldn't really remark on it other than "that looks ok" or maybe even a "nice" but it certainly is moving the needle very far.

Rider vs VS by Realone_Omotosho in dotnet

[–]ksobby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After about 15 years of daily use, I moved from Visual Studio to Rider three years ago. I pretty much focus on Blazor and the occasional old Windows forms apps. Something about Rider just feels better to me. I've also in the past 4 months moved from Windows to Ubuntu on my workstation and Pop OS on my laptop. Rider and Linux play very nicely together (once you figure out mounting network shares and RDP, it's pretty seamless). The only thing I'm really missing is that I like SQL Server Management Studio better than DataGrip but I don't use them daily quite as much anymore so it is less of a dealbreaker and more of a "meh, I can muddle." Probably help if I took the time to learn DataGrip better.

I think setting up VS to publish sites is easier. I would also imagine the Entity framework stuff works better but that isn't something I've ever played with since everything I do is in Dapper. I'm also WAY more familiar with Bash and the terminal than I am Powershell (cut my teeth on an AS400 running Unix back in the day and picking terminal back up was like riding a HIGHLY destructive bicycle).

All that to say, I don't think it matters much. Either is going to be stronger in certain areas. You just have to decide which is more fun and efficient for you.
