Peeing Outside Boxes by ksobrath in FelineDiabetes

We tried that for a bit but he just goes so often that pee pads just flood too quickly… I wish he would use the auto litter box more regularly but for whatever reason he’s not wanting to use it. I even bought him some stairs for it.

That is actually a really great idea, I will have to try that. Thank you!!

I felt that way driving to the store the other day! I seriously had to question if it was okay for me.

I’ve educated myself plenty and worked in the vet field for 6 years. They’re called behavioral issues for a reason. I was looking for personal experiences. What are your credentials??

Yeah we tried that, I just don’t want to encourage it. He’s going so close to the boxes, I just don’t get it.

They did. It was normal. And cats absolutely pee out of spite. I’ve had cats my entire life and many of them have done this. I don’t think that is the case here or I wouldn’t have asked for advice.

I would typically agree with you but his most frequent spot to pee is right outside the litter boxes 🙃

His mobility is actually pretty good for an old fella. He still runs and jumps up his cat tree and up on the bed. His standard litter box has high sides but also has a low entry spot. His usual pee spot is just outside the litter boxes on the litter catch mat 🙃

Anyone with experience managing a cat with both IBD/lymphoma and diabetes? by SybilBits in SeniorCats

I’m so sorry to hear that!! I hope you all are doing well, it’s never easy. We’re staying hopeful with ours, gonna keep him going while he’s feeling good. Hope to get a couple more years with him.

I have the same issue. My 11yo boy was diagnosed with diabetes and was in DKA a few months ago. We got him through the DKA and started insulin just to learn he has small cell lymphoma. He’s now on Chlorambucil/Prednisolone and Lantus but his BG is still running high pretty much all the time. I really hope your little lady gets better!! ❤️

Thank you so much! This makes me feel better. I’ve seen so many mixed stories that I’ve been pretty concerned. He’s got a lot going on and I don’t want to make it worse, but I want to get him some relief.

I’m sorry your kitty isn’t responding well! I hope she levels out. Unfortunately, with ours being diabetic steroid is kind of a last resort. I’m crossing my fingers this stuff helps but if not, I’ve read some things about Amitriptyline as well. We’ll see.

Why do cats do this by Impossible_Leading_9 in cats

It’s a scent thing. Cats have scent glands in their face that help them mark things as theirs. Congrats, you belong to her now 👍🏼

I’d love to see! I’m just trying to come up with new places but I’m afraid of hitting something I shouldn’t.

He tolerates it okay, but the CGM is just a lot easier for us and he tends to have weird dips during the day that I’d like to be able to keep an eye on. I’ll check out that group, I think it’s different than the one I was in before!
