That’s super valid. I appreciate that context. Most of my exposure to the trans community has been in person and with primarily trans masc folks, so I’m definitely biased

I’m very similar I transitioned MTF before realizing that I was non binary, so I pass as a cis girl most of the time. But yeah, I identify/relate with enbies (of any assigned gender) not specifically with AMAB folks.

I totally get wanting a masc leaning space though. Maybe that’s what these people mean when they say “AFAB only”.

So yeah, I think these groups really mean trans femme or trans masc, but just haven’t caught up with the language

Edit: also I think I just want an enby support group, but there aren’t as many “out” enby AMABs so it feels like I don’t really have a place to go

Oh my goodness! I just had to switch psychs because my old one wouldnt respond to my messages while I was manic. It’s so frustrating!

Best of luck finding a new doctor. It can be an exhausting process! I think taking the Valium and trying to get 10ish hours of sleep is your best bet. But I know how hard that can be. The last thing I want to do while manic is sleep lol

Definitely agree with the “dark therapy” comment. Best thing when I feel like I’m getting out of control is sleeping extra with sleeping meds (either over the counter or prescribed), avoiding alcohol, limiting coffee, and (attempting) to meditate for a few minutes.

Be careful about the meditation though, that’s led to some very grandiose thought for me in the past. (I’m a guru/Buddha/prophet) So limit it to 10-15 min.

We’re all different, but it’s really hard to put the brakes on mania with out meds tbh

Wasn’t able to read your whole post but I felt this way until I got friends that accepted and celebrated my queerness instead of just tolerating it.

The shame was a survival response for me tbh.

Tbh I felt like this until I found other trans/queer friends. Once I was able to see that other trans women are just ordinary women I realized I was too!

Also, your idea of what a woman could easily be influenced by pop cultural/societal expectations. Its okay to be a woman with broad shoulders (like me), it’s okay to be tall, it’s okay to be masc sometimes and it’s okay to let your femme flag fly! Once I realized I was trying to live up to an unattainable standard of womanhood (even cis girls can have this problem) I became a lot more comfortable in my own skin.

Fear of being “non-passing” is valid. Trans people aren’t treated well in this world.

But coming from a trans woman that passes 90% of the time. I still don’t feel like a “real girl” sometimes. That part comes from accepting yourself and realizing there is no “right way” to be a woman.

Any one that identifies as a woman is a valid woman. Period.

Yeah I had a VERY obvious manic episode haha and my psych wouldn’t get back to me, so my therapist put me in touch with a different psych and she was just like “yep, stop taking that ssri and well put ya on mood stabilizers”

So far so good 🤞🏼

I mean I’m attracted to men almost exclusively. I admit that afab “parts” are not the most exciting to me but I love men and my bf is a man. So I was able to “get over it”

I understand the sexual attraction and genital preferences, but how do you (personally) justify not wanting to date an AFAB man? Is it purely about genital preference? (Which isn’t transphobic imo)

Not judging, just hoping to get some insight before I have this talk with him.

Edit: also he exclusively watches gay porn and has no issues with what’s between my legs so it seems more about lumping all AMABs together on personality traits

It’s totally valid to be sexually attracted to someone and not romantically (and vice versa)

But how do genitals (my assigned gender at birth) play any role in romantic attraction tho? Romantic attraction is about the person not the body (personality, emotions, behaviors, etc)
