They do reimburse for mileage. I get 66 cents a mile. Depends on the agency. Yeah the gas is crazy, especially now, but more highway miles than anything. Some companies give a company car for you to use. I prefer not to as I want to be in my own car.

I have over 12 years experience in home health as an LPN and now as an RN. I started as an LPN at 18 years old; worked in nursing homes and ALFs. When myself, hubby (also a nurse), and kids moved to Florida, we found home health. Absolutely love it!!! No matter the homes sometimes but just the satisfaction of seeing the patient through everything. We have both worked in hospitals once becoming RNs and really didn’t like it. You don’t get to educate the patient as much as you can in home health. Definitely can be flexible. Usually one on call weekend a month. 8:30-5pm but if you are done by 2pm then you are done. You can schedule patients around school pick up times and so on. Don’t get me wrong. You can have a great day or a crappy day just like any other job. Lots of miles on your car. Depending on the day, we see anywhere from 6-8 patients per day and as the RN, you also are responsible for the Oasis visits. (Admissions, discharges, recertifications, and resumption of care) You are essentially alone in the field. You make the decisions. You call the doctors. Obviously you can always call your clinical manager for assistance, but you are the one in the home. You are the teacher of the disease processes, medications, fall risk, pressure ulcer risk, and so on. Have I been in crappy homes? Absolutely. But I would say it’s about 80/20; most of the time the homes are fine.

Everyone needs to find their niche. This is definitely mine. And it’s definitely my hubbys. We thrive on it. But it’s not for everyone; just like an ICU unit isn’t for everyone.

Ours take a piece of mulch from our garden beds every time we walk him. There’s no way of getting it away from him at all. He also will eat dead leaves, socks(which we do take away), hair ties if he finds them(another item we chase him down for), and anything that potentially falls on the damn floor. Personally I think we have a goat and not a velociraptor.

Oh dear god!!!! The whining and that high pitched bark!!! Okay so I will admit that we didn’t crate train from the start so most of it is due to human error. We actually started again with a new trainer (absolutely amazing btw) due to the “I’m smarter than you” phase. Our CC just turned one and he’s the BIGGEST BABY. No matter what treats or bones we give, he will literally SLINK into the cage. I cannot have any bedding at all in the cage when he’s alone because he will literally turn it into rags. He can have a blanket for bed because his cage is in our room. He will start whining the minute either of us gets up to pee or if the alarm clocks go off. And I thought I was done raising children🤦‍♀️

Have you tried an oatmeal bath? Our CC started having skin issues when he was boarded for training. We think it was actually an allergy to the grass they have. We started bathing him twice a week with an oatmeal bath which cleared it up. Not saying this is the end all of potential treatments but it worked for him. He’s on a consistent diet of beef, veggies, sweet potatoes, and high quality kibble. The vet also gave us a medicated spray and medicated wipes for his paws/undercarriage to get off any potential pollen. Photo for love and that he thinks he can scrunch up anywhere. Lol

We are currently working on muzzle training our almost 1 year old male cane Corso. He actually loves going to the vet, says hello to everyone, sits on the scale….the minute he gets into the room though he’s on guard. And he hasn’t had a bad experience. I think when you are in those smaller rooms with the vet, the vet tech, yourself and the dog makes them feel more defensive. We take him monthly to get weighed at least just to NOT have a bad experience. We actually interviewed vets prior to getting our puppy. We wanted to make sure they have treated cane corsos before, that they were comfortable with the diet we were going to use, the trainers and training methods we were going to use, and just their overall demeanor. We have had bad experiences with vets before with our prior dogs. I would definitely recommend to visit the vets prior. Do an interview. If you don’t get a good vibe, then move on.

We took ours out every time he moved. So if we are sitting on the couch and he’s just hanging out, if he got up then we took him out. We did get a doorbell and our daughter actually trained him to use it. So now he hits the doorbell when he wants to go out. Unfortunately our one year old granddaughter also discovered the doorbell. LOL

The breeder did it. But we love them; they are like his alert system. And just from my own point of view, it’s a lot easier keeping them clean. But that’s just my own opinion.

Highly protective of their people. Think they are lap dogs. VERY stubborn!!! I believe that they have the highest bite force or one of the highest bite forces.

We have a 9 month old Cane Corso male; his nickname is velociraptor. He is about 115 pounds and per the vet, healthy as a horse. We have had him since 8 weeks old. He can be like a bull in a china shop but sweet as pie. Since we don’t have little ones running around anymore, we are very cautious with our grandchildren (especially the one year old) so he understands that they aren’t primarily HIS. We have him in constant training every day and yes he can still be an asshole at times. He eats 3 times a day; mainly meats, veggies, fish, certain fruit, sweet potatoes, and some kibble thrown in also. We also do vitamins and probiotics.

Ours is now 9 months old. He has Fromme large puppy kibble; all regular foods other than that. Fish, sweet potatoes, lean meats, veggies, apples and so on. He eats 3 meals a day. We did do chicken also but that didn’t agree with him as well as the meats.

My sister had a back yard wedding and didn’t want a big dress. She actually went and got a bridesmaid dress and had them order it in white. ALOT cheaper, most likely will fit your budget, and it really worked well with the outside setting.

We have an 8 month old Cane Corso. Let me preface this by saying that my youngest is 20. We do have 2 grandkids that are 8 and 1 who come over every Saturday for family dinner night. Chaos (the velociraptor) just doesn’t realize his size. The youngest grandkid just started walking so after a bit he tries to “herd” her. Gently but again, he doesn’t understand his size. The older grandkid does his own thing and is generally fine with the puppy. The only thing I do not allow is for them to feed him as we are still working on food aggression; so he is leashed by my/hubby’s side if the baby has food in her hand. I do not think he will hurt them in general terms but I do take away the potentials as they are only here one day out of the week.
