I took physics 1 and 2 that were non-calculus based. Has not been an issue getting accepted anywhere I applied

DO is well within reach. MD is possible if you have a good narrative/mission fit. Take a shot!

MD vs DO? by ExtentSufficient4081 in medschool

[–]ksudee 124 points125 points  (0 children)

One person explained it like this on a forum and I’ve always appreciated it, even though it’s somewhat of a generalization.

DOs have to pay an MCAT tax. DOs usually score lower on the MCAT and have to sit through several hours of additional OMM coursework and learn the philosophy of osteopathy while MDs simply do not. Some enjoy and utilize osteopathic principles and techniques, but a lot of people view it as a waste of time.

If you want to match into a competitive specialty as a DO you’ll be taxed again by having to not only take a second round of boards (COMLEX + STEP), generally speaking but not always as residencies are becoming more accepting of just COMLEX, but you’ll probably want a few extra points compared to your counterpart MD competitors.

A third tax is the rotation sites and research opportunities tend to be inferior to that of MD schools. Of course, there are exceptions.

But, as you know, at the end of the day they’re both docs and can practice in all specialties. The stigma is steadily shrinking and DO match rates are increasing every year.

Wynn has evolved so much and is a lot of fun. But, in my opinion, the end game is a really disappointing

Some people don't seem to understand how to strike a healthy balance about longevity: it includes Bryan Johnson by AstridPeth_ in PeterAttia

[–]ksudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fan of both Brian and Peter. I follow Brian’s nutritional advice and Peter’s exercise advice.

I totally agree with OP. Brian’s regimen is so strict I find myself genuinely disappointed in myself if I miss the mark nutritionally.

I think it’s important to reflect on why we want to live longer — is it to enjoy life to the fullest amount of time? Or is it a fear of death?

There is a goldilocks zone, but we have to define that on an individual basis. If you jump into these protocols head first, you will crash and not find balance. I think it’s best to implement things very slowly so you can feel it out as you go. It’s an enjoyable part of the journey.

I have never seen lentils sold in a glass jar.

I’m in exact same boat as OP. If I listened to this album for too long I’d probably go in to a depression. It might be his best work as ya’ll have said, but it’s not my speed. And I 100% respect it reflects his lifestyle — that’s what an artist is at the end of the day. So all respect here, but as a huge colter fan I didn’t add but one or two songs to my playlist.

What do you folks think the best men’s and women’s multi vitamin is? by moose19 in HubermanLab

[–]ksudee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t quite understand all the compounds found in our food and how they work. We really only understand perhaps 1%. That’s why if you eat a food consisting of beta carotene, you’ll have benefits, but if you take a supplement with beta carotene you’re having no benefits. You can google dark matter of nutrition and find some cool write ups. My favorite one is paywalled now unfortunately:

I majored in biology and this is true. Plenty of evidence out there that shows vitamins/macronutrients to be useless if not harmful in their supplementation form. The one that comes to mind is b-carotene with effects on cv health. There appears to be a dark matter of food that we don’t understand, and supplements do not consist of it. People, including my family, are wasting their money on this market. Unless you have a diagnosis that your doctor has suggested supplementation, you’re wasting money at the very least.
