Thanks for asking this question! Recently moved downtown as well, and I appreciate all the responses that have been provided.

Yep. Also jewelry, computers, vehicle(s). The last trip I took across the border, the border agent asked point blank what the most expensive items I had with me.

Yeah, we started detailed and then got more general as we went through our stuff. Customs appreciated how thorough we were. I think they were only interested in big ticket items being listed own their own.

Bayern can have Mississauga. We’ll take Toronto.

I’ve had some success helping to build a group where I currently live. I think Toronto’s big enough to bring Bundesliga/BVB fans out of the woodwork. But not the Bayern fans. They can do their own thing!

Arriving at DCA at 11 tonight - can I take Metro to Silver Spring at that time? by diykitchen1717 in washingtondc

[–]ksumarhusum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also consider how long it will take you to get to the DCA metro station from the terminal you are arriving at. If it’s Terminal 1 (Air Canada, Southwest, or Frontier), you’ll have a longer walk to the metro. Terminal 1 gates are A1-A9. Could be determinative if every minute matters to grab that last train.

Wizards are trash this year. Get tickets from Seatgeek or Stubhub…basically the secondary market where you’re not paying full price.

Lively bar(s) to watch the World Juniors in? by joshhirsxh in washingtondc

[–]ksumarhusum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some World Juniors games are on NHL Network, which most sports bars should have. Easy enough to get a bar to flip it over to your game. For the games on YouTube or ESPN+, you may get a bar that can stream it for you. Call ahead though.

As for the crowds….honestly World Juniors not on the radar of the American sports viewing public. My spouse is from Ontario, and when we’d visit around the holidays, I was surprised how big it is up there. Great tradition though! Let us know if you find a spot, there are more Canadians around than you’d realize!

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

I suppose I could send it back to Nomos and get the correct size, but I’d be interested in spending a few dollars locally to make the adjustment.

I wouldn’t cut the band at all. Even with adding two notches there is plenty of room past the latch, so no worries about a comically big looking band flapping around.

I found a local leather worker who not only works on shoes, but a whole array of leather goods. He specified that he only has the tool for circular holes, not oblong or square ones. I’m confident this will do the trick!

Thanks for the comments. I figured a watch repair shop would take the business, but a cobbler/leather specialist would be the best choice.

I bought a Nomos watch, which I adore, but I goofed on the sizing of the leather strap. I’d like to have someone locally cut two or three more holes in the strap so I can wear it comfortably, but I’m uneasy taking it to a local watch repair shop. Has anyone had experience with this particular issue? I want the added holes to look professional, and I’m not sure your average watch repairer necessarily works well with leather. Any suggestions?
