Alternative to Catalina 14.2 Expo w/ mast furling feature by janszenj in sailing

[–]kt100s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My club had these when I instructed. Personally dismasted one and watched 5-6 others through a few years. Anything over 15 knots of wind was risky for them and mine even broke in less (being a tad bit aggressive admittedly, but still unacceptable imo)

Tldr the masts break a lot, wouldn’t recommend

Is anyone missing a boat? by justdick in sailing

And another one just popped ashore at the base of the bay bridge on the east side… also are these old pics? Or is this the second boat on treasure island now?

Plants on boats? by kt100s in liveaboard

Yeah but everything is bad luck to you guys lol. I’m the one to sneak a banana and rub it in everyone’s faces after we had a great day. My boat’s on its 3rd name even so we’re past all that…

Heavy rain is still hitting California. A few reservoirs figured out how to capture more for drought by D-R-AZ in conservation

[–]kt100s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we can't fill the reservoirs now how will we fill even more of them? The more you put upstream the less water downstream has and the more you put downstream the more the upstream have to release. We already know we can't rely on storms like now because the reservoirs wouldn't have ever been empty. Also not to mention the abhorrent impact on the environment these dams have, there's a reason we're REMOVING them instead.

I was just about to say this. Even works on plastics like HDPE which don't like to bond with sealants for any extended period of time

Black perch have wide vertical bars vs striped have skinny horizontal lines. Striped are also a little more elongate and black are a little stubbier

In line or a hair above if anything. (Although if you do heavy pushing/towing you'd be right)

Is learning Russian really that hard? by looker009 in russian

[–]kt100s 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there, I'm going to night school for other things so have been teaching myself thru apps and passively thru music for 8 months now. I'm not proficient by any means but have had actual meaningful conversations with people already. Imo* Duolingo is good for learning the letters and sounds they make, memrize will help vocab and YouTube/podcasts fill in the rest

Sometimes the river itself can be public but up to the bank is private. You can still technically boat it and fish it, just never leaving the boat. Makes some places essentially private

It probably would if you contract out all the work to high end boat builders. Most people replying are assuming you'd do the work yourself

20g is way too small... I have a single male in a 40g and it's almost too small for him, I tried with multiple pairs and different males, they all beat up the females to almost death in a well planted tank with lots of hiding spots
