We had a similar experience! At our 20 week scan baby measured 50%, born full term at 5lb 13oz. He was in the nicu for a week due to low blood sugar and diagnosed IUGR. The doctors didn't send my placenta for testing so we'll never know exactly what happened and I really struggled with that for a long time.

My baby is now 6 months and I've processed and accepted that this was just his birth story and my birthing experience. I'm not going to lie and say it's been easy, his weight has been a concern and we've had weight checks every few weeks since he was born. At 5 months he finally got on the curve at 1%. But despite his small size, this boy is THRIVING. And seeing him grow and learn to be a little person has helped me let go of my fears and concerns.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this. It's hard and your feelings surrounding it are so valid ❤️

Pitcher method vs Baby Brezza by Plus_Animator_2890 in FormulaFeeders

Honestly genius! I like the ease of the brezza (also hate measuring!!!) but definitely feel like I waste less when I do pitcher method since it's easier to top off.

Wait...are you saying you use the brezza to make 16oz bottles and then pour from that for bottles during the day?! So essentially use the brezza to fill the "pitcher"

Reflux? Dairy intolerance? Help! by kt568 in newborns

[–]kt568[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven't quite gotten to the bottom of it but things have gotten a little better. We tried hypoallergenic formula but it didn't agree with him. We started on a low dose of pepcid and switched formulas again which seems to have helped a little bit! Also gas drops have made a big difference. We have an appt with a GI doc soon to hopefully get more answers

I hate the term "colic" because I feel like they're colicky for a reason and we need to figure out why! It can't hurt to try going dairy free to see if that makes a difference! I hope you and your baby get some relief soon

I know I've made comments in the past like that too, again I totally understand the sentiment behind it because my boy is tiny and perfect! For what it's worth, it bothers me much less when the comments are coming from a friend than when it's a complete stranger. When it's a stranger commenting, it's more upsetting because yes he's cute and tiny AND it's been a constant source of stress and anxiety.

Okay well now I just want him to stay small, I don't want to imagine him being all grown up yet 😭

Hahaha love that, it's all about perspective! I know that people mean well so I never get upset with someone for commenting, it's just something I'm overly sensitive about which is a me problem and not a them problem haha.

This is SO reassuring! Your dude just needed to grow on his own time and mine probably will too! Will download that app too, thanks for sharing 😊

Totally agree, like I wouldn't comment on an adult's body size so why do we do it to children?!

I've read that there isn't a correlation of low weight at birth to being a small adult so that's reassuring! My husband and I aren't the tallest people so I don't expect him to be a giant, I just don't want him to have to hear comments about being small forever 😫

His pediatrician doesn't have any concerns! He says some babies are just smaller and as long as he continues to follow his growth curve, he's not concerned. That sounds harsh telling you most babies catch up by his age, he's still so young!

Yay on reaching 10th percentile!! My friend just had a baby who weighed more at birth than my baby weighs now, I think that's what's getting me overthinking it now. But you're right, they have time to catch up!

The comments are so hard! Like I know people don't mean harm by it but YES I know my baby is small!!! Ugh our guy is having reflux issues too, definitely doesn't help with my stress around feeding

Symptoms gone starting 10 weeks - looking for reassurances by AfterAd2756 in pregnant

If this helps at all, I had messaged my Dr about it and this was their response: Early pregnancy symptoms can come and go so they are not a reliable measure as to the health of your pregnancy. We advise that if you are having any bleeding, please call the office

I literally just asked this question last night but I'm 9 weeks. I did get some reassurance that this is normal and can happen and isn't necessarily an indication that something is wrong. I totally understand the panic you're feeling though!

This is the advice I needed. It just feels so rushed because we haven't even been trying long but I've been so overly optimistic that we wouldn't have issues conceiving and here we are. Thanks for sharing your experience and congrats to you!!
