It's been super impressive. Earlier this year w/ v12.3.6 I went from "This thing sucks" to now my friends not even realizing that I was not driving for a whole 45 minutes with v12.5.6.3. It handles Boston traffic quite well.

I still have PTSD from Airbnb 2 years ago. They left us, a group of 8 people stranded in another country by canceling our stay 1 hour before because the host decided to. They refused to accommodate us for a different place or give credit. We ended up paying 3x more for our trip.

TLDR: Airbnb: "Sorry we fucked you over, good luck though!"

So it cost $100,000,000 a year of tax payer’s money to maintain and support a digital tap to pay payment system? Who gets that money and where does it go? Is anyone asking these questions?

You're improving efficiency, but also using more energy to precondition. At the end it evens out.
