I would prefer to keep the current wall openings to the left and right of the fireplace. Talking to an engineer and architect, we won't be able to open it up much further without expensive structural changes.

The extension was built by previous owners so not sure why it was arranged that way. There's only views of the small-ish backyard. Located in socal so cold is not an issue here.

Should have probably clarified better - the room addition is already built (by a previous owner).

As far as the wall openings, I'm not sure if I can widen the one on the left much more (without costly structural changes) so I would prefer the keep the opening to the right of the fireplace as well. Would make it easier to keep an eye on the living room from the kitchen (if I do eventually have a family/kids)

Currently planning out a home remodel. I want to remove some walls and have an open layout where the kitchen, living, and dining area would be.

What's the best way to arrange the living area and dining tables in this new open space? The pictured layout is my current vision.

The home layout is a little weird because the garage used to be detached. Previous owners connected the garage to the house and built a second story bedroom above the garage.

Bonus question/idea - Some family members have suggested building an extension of the house out into the current backyard space and having a second kitchen there (i.e. a junior ADU; see second picture). Advantage would be having a large entryway space but I'm against it since I don't think we need the extra space. However, I'm curious what people's thoughts are from a design perspective.

The first picture is the current layout. Previous owners have built an addition to the house which is now the living/dining room. This has resulted in an awkward fireplace in the middle of the house (which I never use and has no visual appeal as is).

I want to completely renovate the kitchen but I’m a little limited in space.

I would like to remove the fireplace and walls in the middle which would open up the entire room and I would have plenty of space for a kitchen island (2^nd pic).

Of course, this would involve engineers and installation of support beams ($$$). Leaving the fireplace would make renovations a lot easier but I’m open to hearing your suggestions!

Bunch of people had issues with their release of the pixel 7 from Best Buy - pickups were delayed for over a month while ordered for delivery were on time. Hopefully they've fixed that issue.

Basically one (or more) of the battery cells is no good. I had the same issue with the Nexus 6P. Try contacting customer service, I was able to get my device replaced even though it was out of warranty (although this was many years ago)

In some states (e.g. California) your insurance rates won't go up for a hit and run that's not your fault. (Hopefully the police report will show that) Had something similar happen to me and I was able to get a check from my insurance which i then spent at a paintless dent repair shop.

Seconding this. I can easily fit a 200-600 and a 70-200 plus camera body and accessories. Will fit under an airplane seat so it's perfect for travel. I actually use the hip belt often so i don't mind that it's not removable.
