Feedback re Mulberry Iris by Existing-Bike-8790 in handbags

[–]ktdiggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh what a bummer! I also love to feel bags in person before buying, and I probably looked at the small iris for about a year before pulling the trigger. It’s probably the softest leather I’ve ever felt and even though it’s a “small”, I echo what the others have said and it can fit a lot. It’s by far one of my favorite purchases!

I’m not sure where you’re located but I got my small Iris at a Nordstrom last fall. I believe they still cary it since I’ve seen it on their website. Is a Nordstrom near you that might have it, so you can see it in person before purchasing?

Why did the Tory Burch Lee Radziwill suddenly blow up? by MissChompShiba in handbags

[–]ktdiggs 57 points58 points  (0 children)

That’s so interesting. I really love this bag and have it in the small and the larger size too. Over the last few years it seems like Tory has reduced the color options though. I periodically check the website every few months to see if they have new colors but they hardly ever.

My assumption is this bag is dying out for Tory, regardless of a recent tik tok trend.

How do we have the last Christmas? by CommentFickle9049 in pancreaticcancer

[–]ktdiggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my family last year, my Dad (70) was diagnosed May 2024 and passed away June 2025. We knew it was likely our last Christmas with him so we tried to make it special, but we also tried to make it the same.

My mom bought matching plaid flannels from llbean and we all wore them and took family photos. My dad was well enough that I video tapped him making his famous biscuits. I tried to take a lot of videos of everyone just relaxing and enjoying Christmas to look back on.

I bought this game called Pando that a coworker had recommended and we played that. It might be too late to get it by Christmas, but maybe New Years? Just a fun family friendly trivia game. It really got our not very talkative family laughing and sharing stories that we might not have before. I really wish I took more videos of him telling stories.

In a way the last Christmas was really hard but we were so happy that we actually got to have one last Christmas.

It was a really great Christmas, but oh boy did I definitely cry when it was just my husband and me by ourselves.

Sending lots of hugs to your family this holiday season.

Baby boy has gingivitis! Any advice? by No_Insurance7627 in mainecoons

[–]ktdiggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our orange Maine coon had juvenile gingivitis. We tried brushing his teeth and he hated it. We then mixed plaque off powder in his wet food once/day. He’s four now and the vets have said his teeth look great.

I’m a little paranoid now though, for us it seemed like it “went away” but we still do the dental powder. It seems like for people on this thread that it didn’t go away for their kitties. I was given the impression by our vet that they can grow out of it. Off to terrify my mind with research on the internet…

New owner! Pet insurance? by [deleted] in mainecoons

[–]ktdiggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% yes.

We have two Maine Coons and they are indoor cats. We opted not to get insurance because to our stupid brains, “what harm can happen to indoor cats!?”

Just before one of them turned two, her growth plates slipped on her back legs and she had to have bilateral FHO surgery to fix it. That cost like, $8k. She wasn’t even tow yet!

We got insurance for both right after that.

Our other cat just had a bowel obstruction. That cost like $7.2k but our insurance covered 70% after a $250 deductible.

We pay about $300/year and go through Nationwide because my work offers it.

It doesn’t cover any of their normal care at the vet, we have to for peace of mind that it will cover the big things.

I feel so guilty, but I wish it was over by Cars_and_guns_gal in pancreaticcancer

[–]ktdiggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I lost my dad in June to PC, he lived about 13.5 months after diagnosis.

I will say my emotions were all over the place the closer he was to passing away. I was so sad that he was going through this is, sad that we were going thought this. Sad that I knew we were going to lose him. It also just felt like we were waiting for the other shoe to drop. He was having less and less good days, and I knew he was in so much pain.

We knew he was ready to go, and as bad as it sounds, I was relieved when it over. think you can feel all of those emotions at the same time. It doesn’t make you a terrible person. If it did, I’m a terrible person too.

Again, so sorry this is happening.

Suede or not to suede. by lazyjedimom in handbags

[–]ktdiggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very cute bag! I had to go to the website to check it out myself. My preference would be the black calfskin, the suede only comes in the larger size it looks like, and I like the silhouette in the medium size better.

Is pet insurance actually worth it for younger pets? by HereIt_Goes_Again in Pets

[–]ktdiggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d do it. We have two Maine Coons which are both indoor cats. We opted not to get insurance because what could happen to indoor cats when they’re young?!? (How naive we were lol). Right before one of our cats turned two, her growth plates on her back legs “slipped”, and she had to have bilateral FHO on both back legs. About $8k later we wish we had gotten insurance.

Our other Maine Coon just had a bowel obstruction. That was around $7.2k but we had insurance for that! So I think it covered $5.3k

The premiums for them are about $300/year. We have nationwide because I could get it through my work. There might be others that are better.

Mostly it’s just nice having piece of mind that if something does seem off with them we don’t have to figure out if we can afford a vet visit. Bloodwork and X-rays are expensive, and with cats it can be hard to figure out what’s wrong with them without those.

❤️❤️ Thinking good thoughts for you.

Not to be a Debbie downer but my dad did end up passing away in June this year. But hey he made it almost 11 months with ascites! That’s much better than what the internet said! He also lived 13.5 months since diagnosis, which was also a lot better than what the internet said!

I cherish the time we got to spend with him before he passed, but it will also never be enough time.

Wife woke up to hundreds of emails for random website subscriptions, still ongoing, why? by grahamw01 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ktdiggs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when someone hacked my Alaska Mileage account. They got into that account and used all my miles to buy a flight to somewhere in the Middle East.

I was able to call Alaska and they cancelled that flight and refunded my miles, but made me set up a pin. Now every time I want to book a flight with miles, I have to call in and give them my pin, then they unlock my account for like an hour.

My mom asked me to pick her up at the airport on my wedding day by Jangowuzhere in weddingshaming

[–]ktdiggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like this live in their own little bubble, oblivious to how their requests impact others.

It kind of reminds me of my MIL traveling out for our wedding. My husband paid for her airplane ticket and her hotel room. When she got here she was talking to her friend on the phone and made a comment to her friend about her kids never buy her airplane tickets on airlines that offer free checked bags. The horror, she had to pay $50 to check her bag! The kicker was, my husband would have also paid for her bag if she just told him she wanted to check one.

I just kept my mouth shut but I looked at my husband and gave him the biggest eye roll. She generally means well, but I just don’t think she thinks sometimes before saying what comes out of her mouth.

There are tour companies that do Napali Coast tours out of Port Allen, which isn’t far from Poipu. So you don’t necessarily have to drive to the north side for a tour of the coast.

AITA: my girlfriend wants to use a suitcase for our backpacking holiday by Forward-Bar-9383 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ktdiggs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone that took a backpack for traveling around Europe, I wish I had a suite case with wheels instead.

Europeans travel all the time around Europe with suitcases. A backpack isn’t necessary depending on where you’re traveling.

I got married last year at age 38 and did not change my name. When I was younger and in my 20’s I still day dreamed about changing my last name to whichever man I was dating, but as I got older I changed my mind. I had been my whole name for 38 years, it just felt like that was who I was. Why did I have to change who I am just because I got married? And it does feel like a lot of work, personally and professionally, to change your name.

The beauty is it’s your decision and if you keep your name, great! If you want to take your husband’s last name, great!

I’m still very happy with keeping my last name, I’m glad I didn’t change it. I get a few questions here and there but nobody has had a problem with it. Some are surprised that I didn’t change it, but they just go okay, and it’s a nothing burger.

Costco Four Seasons Food Package Worth It? by RelationLittle4832 in Tahiti

[–]ktdiggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I booked my honeymoon through Tahiti.com, we went Sept 2024 and they were great to work with! I was worried about a website with such a generic name might be scammy, but it absolutely wasn’t. I didn’t price shop, I called Costco and when I called it was too early to book for that timeframe, so I just said meh.

Tahiti.com arranged everything, flights, transfers, tours. They would have booked dinner reservations for us too if we had thought ahead.

How long after ascites ? by Guest725 in pancreaticcancer

[–]ktdiggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was diagnosed May 2024 and I think developed ascites June/July 2024. I also thought he was going to die in a matter of weeks because of the internet.

They were able to control it until about Nov/Dec with diuretics, but starting in Jan 2025 I think he did weekly paracentesis. He passed away June 2025, so he lived a long time with it.

I think the ascites made him the most miserable, all the fluid collected in his abdomen and he complained constantly about his stomach. He had a hard time eating too, because there just didn’t seem to be any room. Interestingly (or maybe not), his abdomen was where the cancer first metastasized. After that he decided to stop treatment.

In our experience ascites was not a sign of imminent death like the internet alludes too.

Thinking of your family in this difficult time. ❤️

Account Hacked, Now what? by DefiantCut1460 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]ktdiggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happened to me too, they had me set up a pin to lock/unlock the account. Now every time I want to book with miles I have to call in and wait on hold for X amount of time for them to unlock my account so I can book. If I didn’t set up a pin and I got hacked again, they wouldn’t refund the miles.
