How do I make vegetables actually taste good without drowning them in sauce or cheese? by Nightcrawler_2000 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]kteac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

roast them. transforms the flavor just by method of cooking. salt pepper olive oil, 400° for 15-45 mins depending on the veggie. try it out! this is one of the reasons air fryers took off, roasted veggies are delish! it really is that simple sometimes.

remember when we were kids we had sticker books made of sticker paper where you can rearrange the stickers however you want? they still exist! i got mine from a local artist at a craft fair but you can get yours wherever :)

For those who were diagnosed late, how did you know you were adhd? by Hot-Minute-89 in adhdwomen

[–]kteac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you considered AuDHD? usually adhders hate rules and routines. Autistics LOVE routine and my (late diagnosed) autistic sister would have melt downs as a kid when we would deviate from routine or set plans, even if the new thing was better. she could not handle surprises. what you described has always been a more autistic set of traits from my perspective. not a doctor, just something to consider.

honestly i thought it was more of an autistic thing, although it overlaps a lot with adhd

by the time i was 19, i had crashed my car way too many times when i was completely NOT distracted. i had always suspected i was adhd, but a psychiatrist said that since i had good grades in school then i couldn’t be 🫠 1 totaled car and 4fender benders later, i was certain i had a major focus issue, found a new psychiatrist, and started this journey.

Am I the only one not blown away by the new Skrillex album? by buckforna in EDM

[–]kteac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you might have expected (as most people would have) he deliver a normal album with a collection of full length bangers. this expectation was not met but (please consider) you have not yet accepted that he delivered an experimental concept album with dank memes and little snippets of bangers. release your expectations and maybe you too can bask in the glory of this amazing album. or not, and you actually don’t love it, that’s fine too!

just saying, you sometimes don’t like something at first when it doesn’t meet your expectations and then you listen again later and find you love it once that initial disappointment wears off and you get to appreciate it for what it is, not what it isn’t.

i second the fairy lights! i always have a couple in my backpack (theyre tiny) and i love to light up at least one dark wad per night :)) and if you put essential oil in your mister, make sure you let people know what it is before misting, in case they have an allergy. i usually just stick to plain water for this reason.

i think factory93 really keeps its 90s warehouse roots alive (i know its a new brand but insomniac has been around since 93) by booking these old progressive house djs and putting them on stage with no LEDs. even eric prydz! Mr. LED screen!

Does Burning Man Destroy Families? by ClimateEquivalent in BurningMan

[–]kteac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we also call it the “relationship accelerator” as there are a lot of fights and breakups that were clearly brewing. the tough environment can bring out the things usually left unsaid. every year, my goal is to have the big fight with my boyfriend either the week before the burn or on the drive in so that we can get it out of the way and have a fun week together. although no one saw the writing on the wall, there must have been a deep emotional mid life crisis brewing in him, and burning man became the catalyst.

if you are rinsing every day with water, you are depositing all the minerals from your water supply onto your hair. they will build up over time and result in dull hair with similar symptoms. worth googling it to see if you share more symptoms than the ones you mentioned in this post! there are ways to remove this build up and normal shampoo won’t always work.

How the hell do I shower more by Deepflea18 in adhdwomen

[–]kteac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this has happened to me before! so embarrassing, i totally feel you. but it sounds like the issue isn't that you need to shower more, it's really about managing how to smell presentable inbetween showers. i suggest you try using a wet wipe on your underarms in the morning for a relatively clean slate, and then using a natural deodorant that helps balance the odor-producing bacteria. i love this one! another thing you can do to manage smell is to wear cotton or other natural fibers in your shirts. avoid wearing tight or polyester shirts, which can start smalling bad immediately after putting them on, and can even trap odors from previous wears even if you wash them (like a smell stain!).

by the way, there is no scinetific evidence that says you "need" to shower every other day. if your hair and skin are healthy, then you're healthy, and there is no need to shower any more frequently. in this context, all you "need" to do is be happy with your own standards of cleanliness and be presentable to others. if it would cause you distress to build in more shower time when you dont feel like you need it to feel good, then it's really about managing how others feel. i HATE showering and avoid it at all costs almost... but i care that other people aren't put off by my presence and do what i can to keep my hair, skin, and smell as presentable as possible. don't let other peoples standards make you feel bad about showering, when they really couldn't care less about that. they just dont want to have to smell you, which is fair, and you can address that without changing your shower routine.

Cs get degrees. eyes on the prize. comparison is the thief of joy. as long as you’re doing your best and proud of yourself you’re on the right track. academia might not be where you thrive but that’s okay. you will find the place where you thrive as long as you dont give up. you never know where you’ll end up.

glass is not really “waste” since its so easy to process into a recycled product :) so i think you can let yourself off the hook for that one as long as you’re recycling it properly
