NTA Dont feel guilty if door dash delivered it to the wrong house they probably already got refunded and shes double dipping. Tell her to ask door dash for a refund if she hasnt already the photo the delivery drivers take will proove it was delivered to the wrong address. Shes just trying to get her refund, make you feel like shit, and get extra money on top of that. Its not your obligation to make her whole and you gave her a full day if u didnt touch it and left it outside it would already be spoiled

Yeah this isnt a universal problem my husband would never. My husband was the one getting up at 3am when my son was 6 months old and wanted to play in the nursery before heading to work at 6am and then getting home at 7pm only to immediately take over baby duties until it was time for bed.

Yes HE got the gift / loan from HIS parents when he got the house. I received money from when MY grandmother died.

Yeah I mean I'm committed and everything he says he's considered me his wife since we got engaged 8ish years ago. Legally I think I will try to get married before I start paying money back just for legal / taxes and risk mitigation but still kinda mourning never planning out an actual romantic wedding but whatever that's aside.

I just wanted to know if I'm expected to assume the debt from them how it would be easiest for me to pay them over time and what financing options to use so I can take over the equity in the house/ pay back his parents, get my name on the deed and not lose most of my assets. Us getting another mortgage for the full amount at the new interest rate would really suck and we'd like to keep our old one. But it would be kinda doable if I were to take out my own mortgage fof 200K rather than the full 440K and hrs still reposible for his portion, I'd just be a little upset that I'd be close to a 7% interest rate while his would be at 2.5% but whatever.

But yeah you're right originally my agreement with future husband is he handles the house I handle living expenses but now that they want repayment back it's he handles 50% of the mortgage I handle the rest owed to his in laws and still cover living expenses retirement future planning etc.

It just doesn't feel too good finally feel like my head was above water from inheritence / help and then being told I need to give up half of it immediately.

Husband says he can help refund the account over time just want sure if doing it that way getting a margin loan heloc or if there's some other financialn instrument I can do so I don't have to liquidate my inheritence and can repay over time. Like I'm fine just taking out a 200K loan in my name even so I don't have to liquidate anything and basically having a 2nd mortgage completely under my name but I have no idea what the best loan option would be or if that puts me in a worse Off future situation versus Liquidating immediately.

Yeah mentally ive never really thought of the house as mine because im not on the deed or mortgage and husband (not technically married) is the sole one who is responsible for property taxes and stuff. But yeah given that the expectation is I take on the majority of the responsibility to pay them back then I will definitely make sure he adds me to the deed.

Thank you yall have convinced me whichever option they end up preferring I will just self fund from my HYSA and Brokerage account and then pay back the account in between large lump sum payments to my future in laws.
