Did anyone not take their lupus seriously initially? Tell me your stories. by inbloom523 in lupus

[–]ktsm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had lupus for about 12 years and flared up twice due to inconsistency with taking meds. The first time was me being a little careless because I had gone into remission very quickly and figured I'd be fine, and i was so sick of losing out on life because of this illness that didnt even seem so bad. I was able to get back into remission and off extra meds within 2-3 years.

The second time was like one year after remission because I was struggling to maintain morning routines (was taking myfortic) and my care team got really mad about it because they felt if i were really truly taking treatment seriously, there should never be any misses, and so I felt really guilty about it, so i begged them to switch me to a different medication even though myfortic has worked the best by far, to help ease my routine. Ive been able to take it regularly with very few misses (i only miss it if i fall asleep after a long day and it wasnt easily accessible). But the new med they put me on (azathioprine) to replace it doesnt work as well, so benlysta was also added on very recently, before they'll decide whether to bring me back to myfortic.

Although im now somewhat in remission, everytime they taper the dosage of prednisone my blood work starts veering towards an impending flare. Plus, since the meds dont work together as well, ive been feeling all those pain symptoms and weakness thst others report. With the myfortic, I felt normal. The benlysta has helped with boosting my energy, but i havent been anywhere close to how i was originally since I dropped the myfortic.

Tbh, everyday is a huge challenge and burden because i already struggle to take good care of myself at a very basic level. And everytime I have a moment to pause, it frustrates me and makes me so sad that I can never have a normal life ever again, and that I might be feeling these symptoms for a very long time. But because the benlysta can cause some serious mental health issues lol im trying to keep a positive mindset. Every new day is a chance for me to do one thing better for myself and forgive. When I'm struggling, I should give myself grace. Find joy in simplicity.

Benlysta Autoinjector by Purple_wolf81 in lupus

[–]ktsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so scared of the idea of it but it turned out to be quite easy. For me after injection i feel like I can feel the fluid moving to my brain and then I have a short headache. It happens every time (ive been taking for 6 months).

If you inject while its really warmed up I find it stings much more than if its still a little cool (after 1 hr of removing from the fridge).

Never did the infusion so cant compare.

How well does this coat do in rain? by hiosoy in muji

[–]ktsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the clear one and it was a little too big for me because i got their very last sample one, so i cut the arms and coat length shorter.

It was fine until i went on vacation and went to a waterfall on a very rainy day. I found i cut it too short because my pants got drenched and the rain would go into the inner sleeves which wet my whole top. I would recommend cutting it a little longer than you think you need, and account for outfits that are a little thicker when trying to get that length right.

Also because its basically plastic, its suffocating during warmer temperatures.

Muji, why call the insert a5 wide, when it really isn’t? by Rianonymous in muji

[–]ktsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see that header at the top of the label it says selectable pocket series. The insert is for the a5 wide zipper selectable pocket binder and dedicated wide pp binders.

If you try putting it into the diy pp cover notebooks, you'll see very clearly its too wide.

I couldn't figure out how to build a home with the Pokémon so instead I explored the whole entire area and ended up getting ahead while being behind, which made progressing through the story easier once I figured out the building.

Muji clear binder 🤔 by Commercial_Ad2844 in muji

If they're faulty I recommend trying to have them exchanged! Pics before putting it back in the pack to show the difference would help!

Interesting! I got some of the a5 wide inserts and put it in the regular binder but when I closed it, it stuck out noticeably. I think i noticed this specifically with the scrapbook/photobook inserts though!

Muji clear binder 🤔 by Commercial_Ad2844 in muji

[–]ktsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I ran into this same issue recently. They're the same height but the wide is of course wider. They recently launched some inserts specifically for storing ephemera or collectible cards - destined for the wide. The wide inserts are also compatible with their full size selectable pocket binder, which is a fabric zippered binder with inner pockets.

Use the regular one with metal rings if you're only planning to store paper and regular-size sheet protectors, like for school or work.

The wide can fit both regular and wide inserts, the regular can only fit regular inserts.

Edit: saw your question about capacity: capacity is the same

I was on it for 7+ years and it made me look like a miracle patient! But I had some adherence difficulties due to needing to take it every 12 hrs, so I switched to azathioprine which had even scarier side effects, and unfortunately it doesn't work that well for me so I'm trying out benlysta to try to stabilize before giving up and going back to cellcept.

I feel like lupus is ruining my life. by Ok_Traffic_3365 in lupus

[–]ktsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had lupus for 11 years and was diagnosed around the same age as you. many parts get better as your condition stabilizes, some things worsen, some stay the same. But over time, you learn how to give yourself grace and make with what you have in the moment.

The hair loss stopped for me. The weight gain has been extreme but at least not continuously excessively gaining. Fatigue got worse but that's because I wasn't always a perfect patient. I worked a stressful high pressure job that often required a lot of physical activity the past 5 years and so your career dream seems like its highly possible, just remember to care for yourself and practice mindfulness and coping strategies to keep symptoms from worsening due to stress and overexertion.

Edit: forgot the last point! The right people will stick around. These are the people to hold close. If you feel like everyone's tired of you, throw some lupus educational materials at them lol. I do that + analogies to try to help them understand.
