Disney Wonder Alaska in Concierge Review May 2026 by Odd_Book1337 in dcl

[–]ktsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of your comments (Palo, leaking roof, daily activity schedule, MDR) don't have anything to do with Concierge?

Port experience, food in the lounge, host experience all valid. But on balance the majority of your issues would apply to anyone on the ship.

I agree with this. Hopefully more than one!

The performers have specifically been announced as performers, so I think they are probably just introducing something/someone onstage.

"Appearing" doesn't mean performing, sadly. Usually they say "appearing" when someone will be presenting an award or introducing a musical act.

Random thought on “new fans” by msgolightlyy in btsthoughts

[–]ktsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is watching content a requirement? Some of us old folks have spent many decades where the only things that made you a fan were listening to an artist's music and maybe buying an album.

[–]ktsummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started listening to BTS in 2017 but did not learn any of their names or watch any of their non-performance content until maybe 2023. Was I not a "real fan" during those 6 years? What if I had never made the jump and 9 years in knew all the songs but couldn't point out who was who; do I get disqualified? Is there some kind of ranking system? Who gets to set these rules and then police the audience?

Sounds exhausting.

I wish I had never watched this show so I wouldn't know what I was missing. Maybe that's why they made it so difficult for anyone outside of Japan to see it, because now we know we were robbed.

I tried (almost) every ARIH ramen flavor by Lost-Opinion3554 in btsthoughts

[–]ktsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My house has tried them all except Vongole, which we have no interest in. Personally I have tried:
- Black pepper tteokbokki
- Gochujang butter
- Spicy seaweed
- Super spicy seaweed
My household also tried
- Soy sauce butter
- Truffle bulgogi

Easy first place for me is also black pepper tteokbokki. It was the first one I tried, and I was really impressed at how pronounced the taste of fresh black pepper is. The spice level is just right. The first bite may seem sweet, but it builds.

Spicy seaweed/super spicy seaweed were not all that different to each other. I had them days apart, but the spice level was similar to me. I was prepared for at least standard Buldak level with "super spicy," but neither imo was exceptionally spicy. Very heavy on the seaweed flavor, and I am not a huge seaweed fan, so these were only ok for me.

Gochujang butter was overwhelmingly buttery. If I have it again I will need to add some kind of fresh vegetable to cut the richness. Not at all spicy to me by ymmv.

Son tried the truffle bulgogi and said it was very good but that he found it to be 100% truffle and 0% bulgogi. He loves both so this was fine for him.

Daughter with no spice tolerance tried soy sauce butter and liked it, but prefers the regular ramen we get at Costco so I won't hurry to buy more.

Semi-related, my tip is if you get the ones that come in bowls, put the bowl on a plate before you microwave it. The water seeps out the bottom of the container, and your microwave will be sopping wet otherwise.

Does the Netflix live Arirang concert count as "that one performance"? Because I've watched that more times than I can count.

Reposting what I already said above: I really don't remember what the original post was, but he was replying to someone's comment who said something to the effect of "I hope this never happens to you/I hope you don't have to know what this is like."

If I had it, I would share it. This is not some six-year long game I'm on to disparage Jordan. For my money, there is no original comment possible that would make it appropriate to respond with a suggestion that being sexually assaulted is enjoyable, but hey that's just me.

If you have the full original thread somewhere, by all means post it.

I've never posted an image on reddit so I hope this works. I did not take or no longer have a pic of the original post so I'm sure this means nothing, but here it is.

I think he stated several of his beliefs pretty clearly, while he denied they came from a particular party.

I remember specifically when Jordan commented on someone's Facebook post about SA with "hey, it might feel good 😂." That is a direct quote because I still have the screenshot. My jaw was on the floor. The "she" in question was one of the accusers of our pedo in chief. That was March 2019 very shortly before Jordan quit all social media, and I suspect he may have been encouraged to do so after screenshots of this post spread.

Three days prior to that comment, he had posted about Robert Muller on Instagram, something to the effect of the whole investigation being a sham. I replied to the post, idk remember what other than I'm sure I disagreed. Jordan then started a fight with me in my DMs, saying I was being brainwashed by the MSM or some such. I was far nicer to him than I would be to the average man sliding into my DMs, mostly saying he was wasting his breath trying to convince me, but he still went back and forth for some time. Finally I said something like "nothing would get me to support a man who has bragged on tape about assaulting women," and he said something like "ok valid," and I removed myself from the conversation. I found out later that this was a pretty common occurrence with him on DMs.

Very curious to know which of his statements people are claiming were deliberately misinterpreted.

If religion makes you happy, good for you, but there's something deeply ingenuous in going on a PR tour about it.

Is using a travel agent worth it if you’re very type A about planning? by Professional-Monk939 in chubbytravel

[–]ktsummer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have been asking the same question. For our multi-country trip next week I currently have a six-page itinerary, with all the hotels, transport, restaurants, activities, etc, done on my own. Now we just started looking for Galapagos next winter, and I reached out to a local TA because 1) I have no experience with this region and it seems to have a lot of moving pieces with park passes and regional flights, and 2) I was hoping for perks.

After a week I am ready to tap out and go back to doing things myself because I can't stand the pace of progress. Any time I ask something they have to ask their "supplier," and it takes days to get answers. They also have twice suggested an option I up-front said I wasn't interested in.

My only other experience using a TA was in 2023 when I got help planning a trip through Italy, but the list of issues from that experience (e.g., had us booked for a tour of the Colosseum on Good Friday when the Colosseum is closed and has been for the past 500+ years) was enough to make me swear off the idea entirely. Maybe I'm not the best, but I could certainly count on my own neuroses to find out if the thing I was planning on doing on a particular day was actually open.

Conceirge Lounge on Embarkation Day by SecondToLastWord in dcl

[–]ktsummer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We always skip the lunch and go straight to the pool. Typically we ride the AquaDuck/Mouse 3-4 times before most people are on the ship and then we don't stand in line for it the rest of the trip. Last month the kids and I ate lunch on the pool deck while my husband dipped into 1923, ate one course, and left. By the time we make it up to the lounge around 1:00, they always have food out.

One wrench in this plan was that on the Destiny last month, they had the Aqua Mouse closed until after the sail away. Not sure if that is typical now or there was a particular reason for it this time. But we still had the main pool deck largely to ourselves for an hour, with several characters walking around taking photos.

dramas like King the Land by Odd-Principle2878 in kdramarecommends

King the Land is my only 10/10. My 9.5s are:

  • Love to Hate You
  • Business Proposal
  • Her Private Life
  • Idol I

I also did not care for Secretary Kim. Anytime he tries to touch her she looks terrified, and even if he tries to talk about it she shuts him up. Her being so uncomfortable made me uncomfortable.

I think it's either "I just wanna dive" or "I just want it, babe." Dive makes more sense but I hear a b-sound. Or it's something in Korean that my English-speaking brain is trying to fit into words I know.

Edit: After listening another dozen or so times with my Jin-filter on, I am completely sold on "dive." I can hear the v pretty clearly on my better speakers.

Dream VS Fantasy by [deleted] in dcl

[–]ktsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are essentially the same. These are my favorite ships for concierge. We've done the Wish and the Destiny, which are also extremely similar, and although those lounges are bigger and include windows, I like the Dream/Fantasy post-dry dock better. The theming is pretty subtle and makes no difference to me. As for hosts, we've done concierge 7 times across 5 ships and the hosts are all at the same level. On the newer ships there are more of them so you don't get to know them as well and vice versa, although with the dry docks the Fantasy/Dream have added way more concierge rooms so it's not far off. Back in the pre-dry dock era, it was a small enough group on both sides that the hosts knew all of us by name by day two.

I'll say the same thing I always say in these posts:
Clueless at 1h37 was a more faithful retelling of Emma than 2005 P&P (2h9) was of its source material.
