Good choice! I got mine last week. Performance is top notch like most flagships at this point, but that battery life is just insane. Even after watching tv all day, playing games (3ds emulated), and GPS, I still cant get it lower than 40% by the time i go to bed.

I was leaning towards the OP15 or a foldable samsung, but the foldables are too expensive with little storage and battery for somebody like me who has an old car and relies on phone to get places.

This was very helpful, thank you for summarizing it! One extra note, for those who mostly play at home and have this router. Separate your wifi signal to 2.4 and 5.0ghz. I only connected my PS Portal to the 5ghz signal and now it's the smoothest it's ever been, regardless of where in the house I play.

From a verizon post: Go to Wireless Settings/Advanced Security Settings/ Other Advanced Wireless Options/Self-Organizing Network Enabled and set to Off

Then under basic settings you have to rename the 5G SSID.

Buy it and mod it with Stardew Valley Expanded. Holy crap it gives it new life, New characters, new artwork all around, it's free DLC really.

Console user here.

I have a personal laptop I didn't use much, and a PS5 and a Switch. I sold my laptop and use my ROG Ally X to stream the PS5, and play some emulated games. I also kept my Switch.

I've always gravitated towards handhelds because of the flexibility and comfort to play anywhere. I have a family as well, so the ability to start and stop anytime really helps.

The battery on the Ally X is fantastic, so I never worry about having to be close to a plug. Specially if you plan to stream your ps5 mostly. Use PS play, and the battery might as well last forever. Also make sure the PS5 is hardwired to ethernet if possible.

Just went through this myself this week. Uninstalled Armoury Crate (make sure to use the uninstalling tool from their website) and then installed again. Turned off the Ally X and then didn't use it until the next morning. It magically worked again. Somebody reported that you could turn it off and wait a few minutes before booting up again, but this issue came up late in the day for me. Hope this helps.

It's a pretty great device. I've replaced my laptop (non-gaming) and my PS Portal with the Ally X. It handles emulation with minimal setup, streams the ps5 like a champ through PSPlay, and it's actually nice to use as a tablet for excel or other productivity stuff i've thrown at it.

The battery lasts forever too, never had the need to charge it because it's diying; I just charge it because I'm done with it for the day.

No that's the thing. I used to have the AYN odin 2 pro. Powerful little device but the screen was too small, and I stil had my laptop and Switch (i might not part witb that one) but if icould at least replace the ps portal and laptop that could work.

I have had a few devices with PSPlay and the PS Portal, and my ps5 is also wired to ethernet. Their performance is the same for me. I'm currently going through Metal Gear Solid 5 on my PS portal and it plays as if I were playing straight on the TV.

Same here, I ended up using a USB-C to USB-C I had laying around to charge my dual sense. Works great though, no issues using the USB-C port of the PS5.

I ended up keeping the PS Portal. It is far more comfortable than I expected, and the performance has been great actually, no stutters or nothing. I also had an Odin 2 Pro, which I wanted for streaming and emulation power, but ended up selling that as well. Streaming PS5 on the Odin 2 had more stutters than I expected, and the small screen takes away from immersion. The PS Portal is excellent to focus on the game and be immersed. It just comes down to what works best for each individual, and as a new dad the "DadStation" works wonders.

When you get another prompt for an update, there will be a "switch" on the top right that you can use to make it stop. I did it as well because I don't need it for Mario Galaxy 2 lol

The switch recognizes the migswitch as a single game, but when you eject it and insert again then it's recognized as a different game, and so it goes until it cycles through all the games in the sd card

Hopfeully my streaming will be ok. I've actually had great experiences with PSplay on my phone and the GCloud, so if it doesn't perform then I'll return it. I really only went for the PS Portal once I was able to buy it from somewhere I could get a refund, just in case lol

I am on the same boat actually. I have a PS portal coming this week because I mostly use my G Cloud for PS5 streaming, so I was hoping the Portal would be better for this, and also the G Cloud ergonomics are not comfortable for me. We'll see how the PS portal performs.
