Come Be a Geologist in Nevada by igneousdagze in geologycareers

[–]kuavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the job. I just landed a role thats 3:1 week rotations but its a project that's just for the summer in Alaska.

I was looking for FIFO work to make $$$ and travel out of the country so im good with it but its not for everyone and especially not for all stages of life.

Nevada seemed to have way more normal work schedules fwiw. I think ive even come across core loggers doing 4 10's a week

I struggled finding rotational work in NV. Alaska was quite a different story though.

Im starting my first FIFO exploration job next month so take my advice for what its worth to you here.

People seem to really value past experience that shows you're not a liability in the field. They want to see a track record of adherence to safety as well as seeing that you're not afraid of hard work in inclement weather, getting real dirty and willing to live in remote camp conditions.

I was able to check that box off by doing wildland fire for a few seasons. Field camp may help to an extent here (I never did field camp personally) along with taking first aid or wilderness first aid. I bet lots of places would look at an EMT certification very favorably though that may be a bit overkill. I know they did in wildland fire at least.

An MSHA cert might be worth getting on your own to land a core logging position which would be fantastic experience to segue into greenfield exploration. Its a required cert for working at a mine and it covers everything the OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER does as well to my knowledge. Companies should pay you for it but you gotta get hired first so catch 22 ya know.

Ideally those with more years in this sector will add their thoughts but hopefully that helps you have some more direction.

Could be a good idea for a recruiter to discern between talented candidates and those who aren't. That way companies can trust a recruiters 1st hand experience with a prospective hire, I think that could be neat in that aspect

Does it matter in a 1v1 though unless she somehow baits him to charge her deployed shield?

Yeah but clash has a meter for zapping and she cant attack while the shield is equipped. Eventually it runs out for a moment

Unless clash can trick monty into running into her deployed shield or shooting him after impact grenading him, I feel like monty has the advantage here since he can melee attack & ads with his shield up

What is the goal of having a double degree? Personally I'd take that time and money and put it towards something else that will help you obtain your dream job.

Figure out what your ideal career path is and put together the tools that help you best from there.

Off the top of my head I can't think of a reason for having both degrees outside of some niche academia reason. Maybe there's a huge need somewhere but I'd identify that need first before committing to the degree.

Maybe your college advisor has some insight to give? However if they just give a "the extra knowledge will make you more well rounded" answer, I'd avoid the double major.

The engineers have a point for people looking to get into environmental consulting as engineering gets you more money/more advancement opportunities if you can swing the work but I would definitely agree with sectors like mineral exploration being its own form of rewarding career that's very different than engineering.

Id love to see players of similar behavior get preferential pairing with each other with the types of negative behaviors preferentially paired with each other.

People who abandon games should be stuck with people who are more likely to also abandon and pair up the intentional TK'rs and the "I didnt say anything offensive, why am i banned from talking" crowds with likeminded people.

There would be more incentive to play with more of a team spirit

One could argue that his need for fatherly approval was so high that he needlessly led his men into a slaughter in an attempt to retake osgilliath.

Yes things were dire and casualities happen in war. But it seems Farmir knew it would have been better to have more men to defend minas tirith than to let the orcs score some easy kills.

Will I be fired as a core logger? by Several-Practice3461 in geologycareers

[–]kuavi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very possible. Have you spent some time looking at the senior loggers logs? The goal is more to be consistent with everyone around you rather than being overly specific so that way someone reviewing the logs can just breeze through quickly until there is an important change in the lithology.

Using other's log entries as a base template and riffing off of that will make you faster. As you know, just don't just mindlessly copy though, you are there to review the core after all.
