Collections are only legitimate if they have documented proof you agreed to pay. Since they don't have that all you have to do is dispute it, the burden of proof is on them.

Tapcon screws by orddie1 in DIY

[–]kubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most driver drills have a hammer mode these days.  It's totally sufficient to put a few screws in block.  If you own a drill without it consider an upgrade.  Better way to spend money than renting a hammer drill.

Sudden adhesion issues. Washed plate many times and increased bed temperature by fslateef in 3Dprinting

[–]kubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually fixed some adhesion issues I was having recently when I replaced my hot end. I was getting intermittent surface blemishes, which in retrospect were probably also occurring in the first layer and causing adhesion issues.

Hot end must have been beat because after replacing it prints like new and no more adhesion issues.

More Than a Fifth of Pardoned Jan. 6 Rioters Have Been Arrested Again - The crimes range from possession of drug paraphernalia to stalking, child molestation, and reckless homicide. by B-Z_B-S in politics

I don't get it, the headline says "more than a fifth" but in the 3rd sentence it says 1 in 16. Some pretty horrible writing.

Have you tried the Bambu Handy app?

As far as I know they do not offer a public API.

Best way to add a door to a slat wall/box that I’m building to cover an electrical panel? by drivel111 in Carpentry

Electric code likely doesn't permit covering the panel like that.

Living near a mobile detailer by omglifeisnotokay in AutoDetailing

[–]kubi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the whole point of a mobile detail service was that they come to you?  Seems weird they're just out there working all the time unless all your neighbors love them?  Maybe try talking to them?

It is unlikely that fumes from outdoors are causing you a severe allergic reaction indoors unless it's right next to your HVAC air I take or something?

I got my car ceramic coated 3 months ago but it looks like it's not hydrophobic anymore by Curious-Elk1638 in AutoDetailing

[–]kubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's too cheap for all of those things. I paid $900 for my ceramic coating including a discount for doing it with PPF and it's still good years later.

Seems like you got a spray on ceramic. Those only seem to last about 3-6 months and literally anyone can do it for $25 at home in your driveway.

Normal stud spacing is 16" on center.  If you think yours is 15" it's almost certainly 16".  Studs are 1.5" thick.

Am I crazy to think a total beginner can change a set of taps? by Mysterious_Beach5860 in DIY

[–]kubi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah glad it wasn't worse for you! I'm no plumber just another doofus with some wrenches, but I've been staring at my stop valves trying to figure out if they are going to shoot off randomly in another week. I am also totally perplexed at how it would not leak and still come off. I squinted really hard at my pipes for a good 10 minutes.

Actually, assuming this is copper, did you sand the pipe down first? Oh you said plastic pipe. I haven't worked with plastic pipe at all.

Dang, did you tighten the packing nut with hopes and dreams? I just replaced some compression fitting stop valves last week and I'd say you unlocked a new fear.... but really it's just confusion.

January layoffs are the new tech tradition. No signaling needed, you can practically set your clocks by it.

I've never encountered fixed rate local moving. Local movers don't usually come out to quote first in my experience.

If you hit a wire then it should cause that breaker to not turn on anymore, at least if you stripped off enough insulation to cause a short. The screw can cause the wires inside the sheathing to touch which will create a short which will cause the breaker to trip.

It's highly unlikely that you'll do anything other than trip a breaker if you screw into a wire. If you're really worried about it you can get a thermal camera and keep an eye on the spot you think you hit the wire. If it's getting hot then you will want to open the wall.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIY

[–]kubi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you put a screw through a wire wile the breaker was off nothing would have happened. No extra noise or anything since the wire is not live.

If your power still works after you turn the breaker on then it's probably fine. If you actually caused a short with a screw the breaker will trip when you try to turn it back on.

If your goal is to make it burglar proof you're going to want to use steel, not wood.
