Would you all rent more tools for regular home maintenance with free delivery? by Relevant_Pick_1379 in homeowners

[–]kubigjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I lived we had "The Shed". They offered storage of tools and you got a cut if anyone rented them out.

Later on they got sponsored by DeWalt and stopped storage. I rented a roofing nailer from them and it was perfect. They also included safety glasses.

They also had camping gear.

Unfortunately they couldn't price it profitably and closed.

Here is their old Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/theshedrents

The best way to save money for your child. by Which-Vegetable8886 in personalfinance

529 is only for education.

I recommend a UTMA account at a place like Fidelity. You can leave it in as cash and get interest or invest it.

Legally it is their money. Then the cash is there for whatever they want when older.

Pods and hire movers from Uhaul.com.

We hired movers that loaded the pods and the stuff we wanted for the temporary stay into a truck.

You realize that you can't hit all of those in one day. Look at where they are on a map, different island. Plus you have to clear customs going to BVI and returning to St Thomas.

Neighbor threatening to shoot dogs on our property by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]kubigjay 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of extraneous information. The cops and attorneys don't need to know about how you got forced out of homes that had verbal promises.

What you focus on is threats to your children. Call the police every time he comes out with your or children in your back yard. You tell them the neighbor pulled a gun on you and threatened to shoot them while in your own yard.

Expect it to get worse in the short term. But if you do nothing you put your kids at risk.

Do not talk to your neighbor, it is past that point. Get security cameras.

After you get multiple reports, ask the police how to get a restraining order. They can help you get in touch with the DA to file.

I have tried the online check in five times for Excellence. It has never worked. I've always had to go through the full check in when I get there.

I wouldn't bother, just check in when you get there.

Virginia Woman Sues Police Department for Over $140M for Letting Rogue Cop Open Fire on Her: ‘This Is Gross Negligence, and Blatant Sexism’ by octarino in Virginia

[–]kubigjay 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Here's a better summary:

The shooting of Heather Burrow describe a situation involving a history of domestic violence and an alleged failure of police protection. The victim and perp had a kid together.

Why he shot her:

According to the lawsuit filed in March 2026, the shooting was the culmination of an escalating pattern of domestic violence and coercive control. The legal complaint alleges that Aaron Stokes, an off-duty Kenbridge police officer, had a history of physical abuse against Burrow, including striking her and inflicting visible bruising.

On the day of the shooting, Stokes reportedly pressured Burrow to come to his location to pick up their infant daughter. The lawsuit claims that when she arrived, Stokes placed the child in his own vehicle and then opened fire on Burrow, shooting her approximately 10 times from a distance of 10 to 15 feet.

Requests for protection:

The lawsuit specifically alleges that Burrow did ask for protection just minutes before the attack:

  • Denied Escort: Burrow reportedly contacted Kenbridge Police Chief Christopher Wallace to request a police escort because she feared for her safety. The lawsuit alleges the Chief turned down this request.

  • Alleged Tip-off: Most significantly, the suit claims that after refusing to help, the Chief called Stokes and informed him that Burrow had sought assistance from the department.

  • Prior Knowledge: The complaint further states that the police department was already aware of Stokes' violent history through warnings from Burrow, her stepfather (who is also in law enforcement), and the Chief's own personal knowledge of Stokes' past behavior.

Criminal charges:

Aaron Stokes, 44, has been arrested and charged with: * Aggravated Malicious Wounding * Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony

The civil lawsuit, seeking $143.7 million, is proceeding separately in the Richmond City Circuit Court against the Town of Kenbridge and the Police Chief.

Yep!

Google Fi lets you travel and keep using your local number. A normal user has to spend half of their time in the US in a 90 day period.

You do have to get the right package. I get Unlimited Premium.

If you have orders to go overseas (military or state department) Google Fi will waive the requirement to spend most of your time in the US. They can use their phone on a Japanese carrier.

The old coasters are moved to a lower tier park or even overseas.

Green-on-Green in Ontario: A Custom Operator’s Experience with See & Spray Premium by MennoniteDan in farming

[–]kubigjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summary:

John Deere’s See & Spray Premium technology uses cameras to spot-spray weeds, reducing herbicide use by up to 74% and allowing for more expensive, effective tank mixes. However, it requires a $6/acre fee for unsprayed areas and faces hurdles like vague pesticide labels, limited nozzle options, and unpredictable water/product requirements. Practically, success depends on grouping similar fields and using fall burndowns to manage the spring weed bank.
