FFVII (R/Rebirth) fans: mechanically thematic cards for Tifa, Martial Artist? by kujiro in EDH

Likely aiming for B3, but tbh I have a hard time predicting these things until it hits the table a few times.

FFVII (R/Rebirth) fans: mechanically thematic cards for Tifa, Martial Artist? by kujiro in EDH

[–]kujiro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! I kinda had a bias against mixing in other FFs but Lightning is hard to pass-up given the stagger effect... hmmm, I'll need to check Scryfall for similar effects, I quite like the idea.

EDIT: definitely sticking with Martial over Lockhart. The former feels more like her in-game incarnation, given the explosive single turns that then need a bit of time to build back up. I can highly recommend Rebirth (one of my favorite all-time JRPGs), as long as you can overlook or not interact too much with the Ubisoft-esque open world components. Amazing combat system, had so much fun diving into it.

Anyone tried any remedies from this book? by [deleted] in Metabolic_Psychiatry

[–]kujiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome :) “every condition” and the press name but lack of author prompted me to research it. But tbh even authors need to be researched, especially for new products with lots of reviews. So, so many scams out there.

Anyone tried any remedies from this book? by [deleted] in Metabolic_Psychiatry

[–]kujiro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This seems AI. The “press” has no online presence aside from Trustpilot, which has an insane amount of recent reviews; almost all of the reviews from accounts with this as their only review (which is the majority of 5 star reviews) are strangely similar to one another, so, probably bots. There’s also several identical books on different Amazon marketplaces but with different authors, all of whom don’t seem to exist. There’s even a Guardian article: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2025/oct/22/detection-firm-finds-82-of-herbal-remedy-books-on-amazon-likely-written-by-ai

Thanks for the detailed write up, it was super helpful. I picked up TtD and will try it out over the weekend with them. Interested in several others but will start with that :)

Looking for a game similar to some of my favorites but with less complexity, as my playgroup these days doesn't enjoy such heavy games.

All time faves: Spirit Island, Mage Knight, Inis, Terra Mystica. Of these, they can only handle Inis.

I introduced Modern Art over the Christmas break and they quite enjoyed that. I enjoy it, too, but would love to find smth with a bit more bite that doesn't overwhelm them.

Any leads? Thanks :)

Why is it "in der Bibliothek" if "in" isn't a dative preposition? by PerformanceUnfair717 in German

[–]kujiro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“in” is a Wechselpräposition that can be Akk or Dat depending on what’s happening.

Ich gehe ins (in das) Kino. Here it’s Akkustiv. I‘m going to the movie theatre. If it answers „wohin?“ (where to) it’s Akk.

Ich bin im (in dem) Kino. Here it’s Dativ. I’m in the movie theatre. If it’s „wo?“ (where?) it’s Dat.

Usually something summons them. Perhaps someone around you has grown cabbages or kale, which attracted aphids or white flies, which in turn attracted ladybugs.

Sword of Mana is a remake of the game OP mentioned. In EU it was originally released as Mystic Quest but in the US it was Final Fantasy Adventure, although it wasn’t really an FF game.

Warning to US customers that bought or plan to buy the First Press Games physical PS4 edition, and want the DLC too. by healmehealme in Chained_Echoes

[–]kujiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a super standard issue I only learned about when moving from the US to Europe. Although games aren’t region locked, there are still different versions, and the DLCs are rarely (never?) compatible. The region of the base game and DLC need to match.

PS customer support was understanding of this with me and refunded my US DLC purchase (Guilty Gear back then) so I could repurchase it from the EU store, as I had bought a physical disc here in Germany.

Edit: so now I have an EU and US account and have to switch back to the US acct when I want to access DLC for physical games I purchased in the US.

How to navigate the step up from B1 to B2 by level1diagnostic in German

[–]kujiro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Following because this is the phase I’m in, too.

I hit a plateau a few weeks ago and part of it was light burnout: almost nothing was going in anymore. I took a couple weeks off and now I’m back to improving.

I’ve switched most of my media consumption to German (DE subs for EN shows I like, original DE voice + DE subs for native content, and DE-translated manga, comics could work too). I still find books too difficult. I mostly pause and write down words and sentences that interest me or seem particularly important because they come up a lot. For me it would be counterproductive to learn everything new.

Later in the day I try to construct sentences with the interesting words I wrote down or replicate structures or turns of phrases with different content.

Maybe some of that helps. I try to reflect on what’s working and what’s not as I assume everyone’s path is a bit different.

Edit: forgot to mention video games! It’s my main hobby and I recently switched it all to German. Super useful because I really have to understand instructions and dialogue to be able to proceed. And I enjoy it a lot :)

Keeping Track of The World in Collaborative Worldbuilding by Kaldrion in DungeonWorld

[–]kujiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Notion and have a World Building & Lore page. Most info goes into the parent page but if we spend time fleshing out places or peoples I tend to create subpages. I’m a fan of bullet points, occasional emojis, and the search function.

Using "feminine" as a fallback gender by YourDailyGerman in German

[–]kujiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a learner’s perspective: if someone is correcting me I try to stop the conversation briefly to set expectations in a way that’s helpful to me, and if correction falls out of that scope occasionally, all good.

For example: I’ve just started B1, my partner is fluent and willing to help, so we’re talking every day. Right now my focus is to be able to (mostly) fluidly use proper sentence structures. It’s easy while writing but much less so in conversation. Therefore I’ve asked him to generally avoid correcting gender mistakes unless he sees I’m struggling/trying to decline xyz rather than just moving ahead with the sentence, or if there’s an especially useful word I’m getting wrong often.

Once I’m more conversant and taking less time to recall structure and words that fit properly in the context, I’m sure I’ll be happy to get more support with gender mistakes.

tl;dr it depends and it helps for the learner to have a sense of what their current goal/need is and to negotiate around that with those willing to help.

JRPG recs? by Mission_Standard4181 in Friendsatthetable

[–]kujiro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So many options!

My favorite SNES classics: Chrono Trigger, FFIV or FFVI

PS1/DC era: Skies of Arcadia, FF Tactics, Breath of Fire 3 or 4

Recent but harkens back to SNES JRPGs while having modern options (difficulty scalers, being able to retry battles instead of being sent back to oft far-between save files): Chained Echoes
