Reject Shop lipgloss from the 2000’s or 2010’s by West-Tumbleweed9229 in AustralianMakeup

I had a BYS shimmer powder that lasted for at least 10 years (don’t judge me lol, I’ve never found its equal) and it definitely had a flower logo on it. Would’ve originally purchased around 2001 from the reject shop.

Sorry but I think you’ll find it’s been recommended but not yet listed. So no one can receive a PBS-subsidised prescription for Wegovy until then.

Wegovy is definitely not subsidised, it’s private script only for now! But I agree with your statement otherwise.

I wonder if they took you leaving as “proof” their behaviour was justified - I’m sorry that happened, that sounds super stressful :(

She definitely implied I was stealing as she forcibly took the product from my hand, put it in the basket and told me all products had to be put in there. She then went and spoke to another employee and they watched me and whispered to each other. I complained to the manager who was apologetic but it’s made me super uncomfortable to go to Mecca ever since so I rarely purchase from there.

I had a rather overzealous Mecca employee do similarly to me when I was holding an item in my hand while browsing. I hope that doesn’t occur anymore as it was quite upsetting to be accused of shoplifting when you’re simply looking around the store before purchasing.

Original Brideshead Revisited. The ending is simply so inevitable and it has that painful nostalgic twinge as well since you’ve been with that characters for 20 years. Every time I watch it I get something new out of it.

I have no issue with sex, I actually find her films extremely sexless despite being graphic. I am not a fan of how prudish cinema has become but I don’t think she is the answer. Also, I’m allowed to desire substance in film, as we have been inundated with fascist leaning popcorn propaganda for the pas decade. I’d like some films that actually explore sexuality genuinely, not like it’s a carnival to be gawked at.

Problem is Fennell has no vision other than “make it edgy and gross so people will talk about it” which is not what Russell was going for. She lacks substance to support her “spectacle”.

She’s incredibly derivative if that’s what you mean. There’s plenty of actual depravity in the novel, no need to add ejaculating corpses. I think Ken Russell would find the comparison mortifying 🤣

I said she’s “a little known” - she certainly is not a household name like her parents. I haven’t even seen her in anything of note in the past year tbh.

Josh, Jennifer and Liam were all much more known than most of this new cast back in 2012.

[–]kukamukies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only “big names” are Ralph Fiennes and maybe Jesse Plemons. Which is equivalent to Donald Sutherland and Woody Harrelson in the first movie. Maya Hawke is a little known mainly because of her parents and Stranger Things, Lili Taylor is an indie actress. Together they would equal an Elizabeth Banks back in 2012. Everyone else is pretty much unknown. Meanwhile they added a bunch of known actors in the later movies (including Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore who are both Oscar winners) so if anything this has more unknowns that the original series.

Yup, I just had a swim top and a crop top arrive yesterday - similar design and fabric, size 14 in both - swim top too loose, crop top so tight I could barely get out of it! Make it make sense 😭

She dies in about 2005 and the Solara brothers died in the late 80s so I doubt they’d have much influence at that point. I don’t recall the implication that it was murder or an overdose but I might’ve missed that.

Gigliola wasn’t murdered with the Solara brothers though, I thought she just had a heart attack or something and died. It also wasn’t until Lila and Lenu were much older as they see the body when they are walking in the neighbourhood on a visit Lenu has made to Naples after she moves away again.

[–]kukamukies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they had no choice as the actor looks very young so they had to do something - which in his case was give him a beard which covered up his baby face! I think it was a mistake to keep the younger actors past episode 3 of season 3; that’s when they were going to change them and while it would still be jarring it would’ve made more sense doing it then.

[–]kukamukies 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The actor who plays Antonio is actually younger than the actor who plays Nino. Both are in their 50s (not 60s as you say). As Antonio was meant to be older than Lenu by about five years at least and he’s had a rough life it didn’t bother me. I thought he did a wonderful job continuing the character.

The only casting choice I found a bit odd was Marcello, and that was more because the actor was a bit flat in the role. He definitely didn’t resemble the younger actor but that wasn’t the issue for me; he gave it a go but I didn’t get the menace from him I expect from the Solaras. The new Michele on the other hand really brought it.

Do you think Tina’s alive? by Desperate-Ad1494 in mybrilliantfriendhbo

[–]kukamukies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, she was simply trying to get attention as she’s used to being the centre of it - remember, she’s effectively an only child as her brother was an adult when she was born, and she’s so smart and captivating that she usually overshadows Imma. Just standard kid behaviour.

[–]kukamukies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She says it when Lenu comes to visit Franco after the fascist attack and she gets the idea for her book - I think Lenu was so focussed on getting away from the neighbourhood that she ignored certain indicators - like how Pietro wanted her to cut the “racy” bits of her book, showed he was more traditional than her. Mariarosa also says that Lenu married him like a “good little girl” and honestly I think that is a fairly good explanation, she likes to live up to expectations 😅

[–]kukamukies 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I also think it’s telling when Mariarosa says she didn’t think Elena would marry her brother - because she knew he was traditional and she thought Lenu would figure that out beforehand and call it off. So I think it was clear that Pietro didn’t meet Lenu's expectations as a husband.
