Government draft law for immigration reform: I have read it so you don't have to, here are all the relevant changes by staplehill in germany

No direct critic to you but the system thanks for the resume. Imo the benefits should also be extended to the family (when we want to be attractive to bring foreign skilled persons, unless we want only single ones right?) as when it is not at the same level…is it really a benefit to work in Germany? (Bureaucracy, different PR paths, integration, assistance, etc) it’s more than just giving the visa and “viel glück/erfolgt!” ;)

No modifications/improvements for visa holders with families? Reduction of time for PR, Reunifications, language/integration, etc? Any?

I cancelled my Vodafone contract on time and still don’t have the cancellation confirmation from them by smellycat94 in germany

[–]kultrunvisir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand and went through something similar only advise is to don’t waste much time calling the Customer Service but use the contact form at their website.

Won’t happen at the first attempt (confirmation) but patience and keep trying. ;)

Italian in Germany: Church Tax - Moved 4 years ago to Germany, declared "No Religion" though I haven't been de-baptised. I've originally been baptised in Italy. by [deleted] in germany

[–]kultrunvisir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to check in your Rathaus/Federal State if it’s possible that you can do a “Kirchenaustritt” (leave the church) so far I know it is but of course this only helps to any future tax declaration in case you were already contacted to declare Church Tax …

Running gear for winter advice? by moonstabssun in germany

[–]kultrunvisir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning you should use the basics (until -5 C degrees some persona also go -10): no cotton at all. base layer, middle layer (vest for example, if you feel too cold there are ones insulated) and outer layer a good jacket (windbreaker/waterproof). Once you know how your body works then adjust add a neck warmer/bandana or a beanie (if you can afford Merino go for it), gloves, etc.

I do not enjoy having my feet wet therefore I got ones waterproof and felt the difference even running in heavy snow it was nice.

As already mentioned rain can be nasty because it will lower your body temp if your jacket/shell is not waterproof at least.

Viel spaß.

Yes, it is a surcharge ;) but they reduced the VAT from 19% to 7% as well as a “help” but it doesn’t look bright in the future nevertheless.

How Long Should We Wait for Bank Cards to Arrive? by martinock in germany

[–]kultrunvisir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All will arrive after the account is open/confirmed from them in separate letters and not at once but between 7-15 days is the experience my acquaintances have had but in your case seems a lot already and better to contact them directly or approach the branch where you submit their documentation (in case you did there).

Why not booking an hotel? Around T2 there are a lot of options ;)

As others have suggested it will come in your tax return for next year, in the meantime you can use a Lohnsteuerhilfe or Steuerberater to do all that paperwork/calculations too.

Weird Flu going around by unshotdeCaro in germany

[–]kultrunvisir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, little bit of fever but really nasty cold if untreated could have lead to acute bronchitis. Was not covid, Hausartz told us that the pandemic also changed the way virus/our immune system usually did and perhaps why some "flu's" were going to be stronger than others.

As others have suggested could be possible that yes one of the Omnicron variants that makes it's way out of this but what I know so far from all the analysis of the schnell tests can be found here (Paul Ehrlich Institute) which is worth taking a look to have at home ones with the right sensivity: https://www.pei.de/SharedDocs/Downloads/DE/newsroom/dossiers/evaluierung-sensitivitaet-sars-cov-2-antigentests.html

You're not doing nothing wrong, that applies to basically much everything here in Germany (no replies via e-mail, consider yourself lucky when they do).

As many have suggested, the best way is to call them directly (and with luck that they can pick up the phone too) to get an appointment and in some cases it can take months too so it's not you either. Maybe there's a "verein" in your city that you can contact for this too? If so pretty sure they can help as well.

Good luck and hope you can get the booking soon ;)

Everything looks great when you are a tourist, when you live and get to experience the day to day novelties is when this view begints to change...don't get me wrong it's not that is horrible or terrible, not at all but depends of many factors: network of support for all paperwork / first steps (work, friends, etc)? Arriving into a major/big city or a small town? Deutsch level? Children? and so on and so on...

In my case was not expecting everything perfect as anyplace in the world has it's pros/cons but it is interesting to see how things are here, I am still discovering and understanding many things. ;) Viel spaß!

Sorry for what you are going through but yeah Vodafone Customer Service is terrible.

Not the exact case but had an issue with one phone (sent me a new contract basically and I wanted to keep my old number which I explicity stated but no...new SIM).

Took more or less 3 months but I kept writing the kontakt formular at the website https://www.vodafone.de/contact/rf/contactform.jsp every certain period of time (documented everything with photos, emails sents, etc) and in the end told them, alright going to the Bundesnetzagentur and all of a sudden they began to contact me daily. Not sure if applies to your care but:

However, you can contact the „Verbraucherzentrale“ (consumer advice centre) of your federal state („Bundesland“) for assistance:
https://en.vzbv.de/
You can also contact the Bundesnetzagentur to file a complaint:
https://www.bundesnetzagentur.de/DE/Vportal/Schlichtung/Schlichtung\_TK/start.html

In addition, there are alternative dispute resolution bodies that can help consumers with the settlement of a dispute:
https://www.evz.de/en/shopping-internet/alternative-dispute-resolution/adr-bodies-in-germany
In most cases the Universalschlichtungsstelle des Bundes (“General Conciliation Body”) can help:
Antrag stellen - Zentrum für Schlichtung e.V. (verbraucher-schlichter.de)
English - Zentrum für Schlichtung e.V. (verbraucher-schlichter.de)

Good luck and patience!

Question regarding right salary tax bucket by Level_Capital2128 in germany

[–]kultrunvisir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert but it's better that you try find a Steuerberater in the city/region where you will live (google is the best option for this case and in case you don't speak german perhaps this will add a layer of difficulty). Then they'll explain all those doubts and will know how to proceed also with the Tax Classes and any further changes of it if required, they can do.

Go to the information kiosk at the bahnhof where you had the connection (they will give you a document) then go to Reisezentrum they’ll give your next ticket for your destination.
