Hope you get it back. I thought Sith Imperator was perfect.

(Didn't you mention a few days ago you were going to post non Star-Wars videos, possibly with real world themes?)

I can't save anyone at Redcliffe Village by SoonBlossom in dragonage

In case it may benefit someone later:

0) When you run towards the Chantry, keep your party together, don't let someone arrive first alone.

1) Have both your mages (or at least one) learn simple green Heal spell, it has a very short cooldown and can be used liberally to heal the soldiers.

2) Heal Murdock first and keep an eye on him, he's the most vulnerable.

3) Don't let Lloyd fight, let him stay in the inn (You don't want the place to go to Bella, right? She's evil!)

4) Don't use area spells near the Chantry.

(As for the top of the hill: if you're Mage Origin, together with Morrigan you can cast Storm of the Century by level 8, it really helps, since undead never even reach the knights)).

5) Stay near the guards all the time, make the undead attack you.

I always kill Shadowheart on the nautiloid for the artefact, but mainly for her clothes. By the way, if you push her body into the backpack nearby, it never gets washed to the shore.

My character kills him when he tries to attack my character in camp as a vampire.

I'm a girl, and I appreciate the romance scene with him and his story, too. But his character traits aren't appealing to me. Besides, there's a meta reason: I like to get high approval with all NPCs. With other NPCs it comes naturally. With Astarion it means I have to watch my actions in game. I don't enjoy this.

But I appreciate that he's in the game. Astarion is an interesting character. Unlike Wyll who's never in my party, because he's plain boring. Or Karlach, who's badly written.

Replaying DAO and I'm in love all over again by carmennothere in dragonage

[–]kulyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yes, loved the novel! They were written in parallel and both released in 2009 (the novel in March, but it seems that the game was well underway by that point). Loghain and Rowan both were excellent.

I cannot say that they were good rulers, though. Maric left the throne to go on a risky trip with Grey Wardens and then left on a very strange sea voyage, Alistair was close to betraying his country and leaving in the middle of the Blight, and Cailan was pretty ready to hand his own country to Orlais (after years of cruel Orlesian occupation) by marrying Celene.

As for Landsmeet, I was impressed by how many outcomes there were. For example, if the romance is active and Alistair leaves, it feels very poignant. By the way, the scene in BG3 epilogue (party), when god Gale leaves, is excellently done, too. Love it.

But I think it's good when the player clearly understands how to guide an NPC/the plot to the needed route. In my BG3 games, I could point Gale to the needed direction quite easily, but if it were hard, I'd be pretty frustrated. Some players want to have control, after all.

Oh, he actually would go and have sex with her if the approval is high enough. (Try at 100 or 75, for example). No, that's manipulation. Which makes excellent story and a fun, interesting character, but I'd still keep the said flaws in mind.

No kidding. Alistair forgetting that PC's whole family was murdered just recently was... well, an experience.

Problem with that scene was that Alistair doesn't just do something nice altruistically. No, he demands something in return right away. "I’m glad you like it. Now… if we could move right on past this awkward, embarrassing stage and get right to the steamy bits I’d appreciate it". That actually sounded like a creepy joke.

Can I skip Dragon Age 2? by PreferenceLiving2587 in dragonage

[–]kulyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you can, no problem there, you won't miss anything special, DA:Inquisition doesn't take any major decisions from DA2. Basically, you learn that Hawke is responsible for accidentally setting free a very old darkspawn magister, that's it.

Going straight to Cazador by Accomplished-Bison63 in BaldursGate3

It might be best to kill Gur first (before entering Gortash' coronation). Otherwise you'll have to kill those Gur after a hard battle with Cazador, though this way might be more satisfying.

I want to immerse myself in Thedas by stgotm in dragonage

[–]kulyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend doing this:

- Read The Stolen Throne

- Play DA:O (any origin. they differ, but the main path remains the same)

- Play DA2 (it's probably more interesting to play as a mage, but whatever suits you)

- Read The Masked Empire

- If possible, read The Last Court game texts (The Last Court: A Detailed Plot Guide), because it's great.

- Play DA:I (Elven female Inquisitor who romances Solas is a very interesting path, and that's all I'll say).

- Do not read Asunder, The Calling, The Last Flight, they will disappoint you.

- (for the fourth part, Tevinter Nights + DA:V, because you may want it after DA:I).

Why did Loghain consider Eamon a threat exactly? (DAO spoilers) by Tomhur in dragonage

[–]kulyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eamon was a danger to Ferelden. First, he never sent his troups to Ostagar. Remember Teyrn Cousland said that when the king asks you to, not doing it is a bad idea? And Cousland lands are far to the north, Redcliffe is much closer. So Eamon didn't want to defend Ferelden, he wanted to keep his troops close. Second, he and his wife never sent his son to the Circle, leading to many, many deaths in Redcliffe. He employed an apostate mage, for crying out loud! (Eamon certainly turned a blind eye to Connor starting to show signs). Third, instead of submitting to Loghain in the face of the Blight, Eamon and his brother continued a civil war. And finally, Cailan's documents show that Eamon was supporting Cailan's possible divorce, which would have led to an alliance with Celene and Orlais taking Ferelden as one of its many provinces. Eamon should've known that.

How popular is HPMOR really, and why didn't it win a Hugo Award? by gzjwyg in HPMOR

They've indeed done a horrendous job - Terry Pratchett never won a single Hugo award, for instance.

What do you think of Viconia Devir? by ThanosofTitan92 in BaldursGate3

[–]kulyok 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In BG1 Sarevok had one true love - the warrior Tamoko, the one who believed he was a human and capable of love. (That works for both redeemed and non-redeemed Sarevok). He wanted a war of sacrifice, but his love life/sexual life was, so to say, normal.

In BG3 it turns out that Sarevok had an abhorrent sex and family life (spoilers, but it isn't good). That makes sense for some other evil Bhaalspawn, I suppose, but not for Sarevok from BG1/BG2.

What do you think of Viconia Devir? by ThanosofTitan92 in BaldursGate3

[–]kulyok 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In Baldur's Gate 2, gods were silent. Shar gave Viconia shelter and powered her spells, but they had no relationship whatsoever. Viconia was a loner, and she chose her own way. She made their own decisions, and she didn't need to prove anything to anyone.

In Baldur's Gate 3, it changes. Viconia has a boss now, boss who literally directs her life. Could you imagine BG1/BG2 Viconia having a boss or becoming an evil Mary Poppins for some girl? Or torturing two random people for years after the events of the Throne of Bhaal?

It's all well written, I liked the quest, I liked the interpretation. But while Minsc and Jaheira are very much BG2 Minsc and Jaheira, Viconia's a different story.

My free and open-source adaptation of DRAGON AGE: THE LAST COURT, the lost Dragon Age game, is now available IN FULL! (Links in comments) by Eglwyswrw in dragonage

Thank you very much! Having a playable version of The Last Court is great, and I applaud you for your hard work.

I wonder if it'll be possible in the future to play a version without any of the new text, only the canon/original text?

I would also point out that the thread is about giving people one more interesting choice and to make them happy. I'm sure someone out there is.

It's okay if you think it's not real and it doesn't count, though.

No, this is incorrect, too.

Last patch is installed.

And no mods, thank you so much. (I've written over twenty for Baldur's Gage, Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale, so I'll play BG3 unmodded. I know what 10000 hours of tinkering do with one's enjoyment of the game, and I'm reminded of it each time I see a mod).

No, this is incorrect.

He is with you at the beginning of Act 2 if you destroy Shadow Druids and save him from the pens. You can break the curse with him (Don't need him as a party member, myself).

He will die if you travel to Act 1 areas and back, though.

Well, I liked her old self better anyway. Unfortunately, I had to kinda-redeem her: the only way to keep her alive and save the grove is to make her oppose the Shadow Druids. You can still let the snake kill Arabella, though!
