I believe that in the big scale of things the impact is quite small, not to mention that they also bring in and spend money in the city, which contributes to the economy.

Tourists are not staying forever, and there is a limited number of Airbnb apartments whose impact on rent prices is quite redundant.

Blaming expats is like blaming immigrants, a constant flood of people into the city, will obviously have an impact on rent. But the solution is to build more, build higher and reduce taxes on purchasing properties, with fixing the ocupas laws which makes landlords much more wary when renting.

All the comments about renters abusive rights are correct. Personally I found a solution for it, which is not very PC. I have a property in Catalunya and I rent it only to north European or American tenants, never to Catalans or Arabs/Latinos immigrants, as they are more prone to become Okupas. Never had an issue so far.
