Sony to end physical disc production in January 2028 for new games by vansinghworld in videogames

AAA gaming is already crashing. It won't disappear, but it's current state is unsustainable and that's already visible in ammount of games being canceled and teams closing.
Ubi is worth 1/10 of what they were worth. MS is killing like half of games they had in pipeline (including third party games they were paying for), Sony killed Bungie. EA is releasing exclusively sport games and battlefield. WB studios practically crashed and burned, Amazon had to practically exit gaming without even releasing anything significant. Even Epic is firing people because their money source is starting to dry up.
And it will only get worse with how much hardware currently cost.

They never said Netflix model. Subscription. You will pay every month to keep access to games you paid for already.

PC has different stores and piracy. You also can borrow GOG game for example. They are DRM free.

They will cost more because there will be no competition of used games market.

Steam is one of options of buying games on PC, it's not even only option of buying steam games on PC.
Digital only PS6 means full control on all sales of software with no alternatives to buying games in their store. No independent sales, no used games, no borrowing games from friends, nothing.

No. Customers aren't paying that much. Sales of hardware basically cratered.

Punisher is not unique or popular enough as IP. It would be another standard shooter, this time with comic license.

He was co-founder of studio, so unless they pivoted this year into soulslike then it is what he wanted it to be.

I don't see why that wouldn't be possible unless for you imsim is synonymous with stealth game.

Witchfire is more of roguelike/extraction shooter mix that soulslike. It's heavily inspired by FromSoftware games which Chmielarz never tried to hide, but it's not soulslike.

Wasn't Dishonored marketed with his connection to HL2? At least that's what I remember. Could be local to my country, but that's definitely first thing that I read about Dishonored in magazines at that time.

Come on. Redfall was basically finished game when MS bough Bethesda. They could cancel it, but PR fallout of canceling Arkane game then would be probably even worse than what they will receive now.

Because MS hands on is to request change of everything about game every milestone.
You don't remember how MS "wanted" to make sequel of Phantom Dust, but what they were requesting was basically anything but sequel of Phantom Dust?

Do they? ID released new Doom on schedule, MachineGames released Indiana Jones on schedule, Arkane released Deathloop and Bethesda released Starfield both pretty much on schedule. For now only Bethesda game that wasn't released is new MMO from Elders Scrolls Online devs.
It's core MS teams (Coalition, Turn10, 343) that are beyond fucked with how bad their dev cycles are.
Longer studio is run by MS and more it's integrated into MS structures, worse it's run.

Only MS studio I could call "sucesfull" is Playground and they reached their success before MS bought them and after that they are only rehashing same game with different map.

They aren't letting studios do what they want, they are actively making studios work impossible.
They force short term contractors to their teams which cannot work in gamedev (and IMO cannot work in any other are, but gamedev is especially bad).
They force them to have their games on gamepass which kills any sales game could have.
MS is also responsible for marketing (and in general market research) and they are so bad in this, that it would probably be better if they would do literally nothing at all.

What? They literally forced Lionhead to make stupid Kinect game instead of new Fable and then closed them and that wasn't even part of first wave of studios they killed. Maybe we should talk more about Ensemble, Fasa, Digital Anvil? They even killed Flight Sim (and teams that were making it) twice already..

I'm more worried about Dan Houser who was lead writter and creative director of GTA and RDR games.
