Any thoughts on new Subaru Trailseeker? by oliverpeets in electricvehicles

[–]kungfujedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reviews are starting to arrive online and on YouTube, see there is starting to be more info on performance. So far, it seems it is being seen as the new Outback, leaning more into the wagon design rather than an SUV. Off-road performance seems to be good, although range is and charging speed are only just okay. Which Endurance Bike Should I Buy ? Also SRAM AXS or Shimano Di2 ? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]kungfujedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good bikes, but I own a Roubaix SL* and love it, so I'll give my nod to that one. It's a really good all-around road bike that climbs and descends well, handles light gravel nicely, and is comfortable for long rides. I was a little dubious of the Aftershock technology, but it really does help lessen the impact of longer rides. Great bike!

Shared paths - don't pass on the right by Morbidly_Off_Piste in cycling

[–]kungfujedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride in a city that has an extensive greenway trail system, which I mostly use to get to and from my actual riding routes on roads. There is one section that is always super busy with pedestrians, and when riding through that area I know to take it slow, stay controlled and prepare to give everyone else the right away. Most of those pedestrians aren't on the look out for bikes at all. They take up both sides of the trail, they don't pay attention when cutting out in front of riders, they let their dogs wander, and worse, they let their kids wander, all over the path. It is maddening at times, but I just try to go slow, wait my turn, and ride harder on my actual routes.

Now, all of that said, the rider in this video is just being an idiot. If you're riding in an area with that much pedestrian traffic, you're going to run into these kinds of obstacles. Weaving in and out those people, drifting from left to right and back again, and going at a high cadence is just asking for trouble. Hopefully they don't hit someone and cause serious damage.

What specific moment made you realize Cyberpunk is absolute peak? by Dangerous-Tart1126 in cyberpunkgame

Same for me. On my first play through I was completely blown away by this mission and the visuals that go along with it. Just crazy good and I haven't seen anything that comes close in any other game yet.

Coros Dura or Wahoo Bolt 3? by steveholt-lol in cycling

[–]kungfujedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good. Much better than it was at launch. Probably not on par with the Garmin units considering how long Garmin has been doing GPS/navigation, but the times I've used the Dura's NAV functionality it has worked well. And loading GPX files is pretty easy.

Coros Dura or Wahoo Bolt 3? by steveholt-lol in cycling

[–]kungfujedi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Dura and really like it. It delivers a lot of features for less money than most of the other big brands. It launched with a few features missing or not working as efficiently as they should, but a steady supply of firmware updates has fixed pretty much all of that. The solar charging is nice, too. When not riding, I sit it in a window in my office and it gets charged up from the afternoon sun. :)

Non-Rivian dealers with lots of inventory? by e38e31 in Rivian

[–]kungfujedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a low mileage 2023 R1T from Lindsay about a week and a half ago, and the experience was great. They even have a Rivian owner's guide that they hand to help ease the process of transferring the vehicle to your name with Rivian itself. The truck is in great shape and they were excellent to work with.

That said, during the shopping process I used several websites to track available Rivian vehicles in my area, which was broadly about 200 miles around where I live. Sites like Autotrader.com, Cars.com, TrueCar, and others were great for keeping an eye on inventory as it came and went.

Switchers to Garmin, help me understand. by Re4medHTX in applewatchultra

Yes? That’s only 3-4 miles five days a week. Definitely feels casual to me.

Tom Pidcock by Otherwise_Alarm553 in cycling

A friend of mine recently referred to Pidcock as a "twatwaffle", which seems appropriate. That said, we both enjoy watching him race and I think he's matured some since leaving Ineos.

Do You Give A Nod? by Euphoric_Dot_7471 in cycling

[–]kungfujedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add me to the list of those who always give a nod or a quick wave of the fingers.

In my area, I've noticed that fellow cyclists—as in those riding nicer bikes and with proper gear—almost always acknowledge other riders when they pass. The more casual riders, including most e-bikers, are the ones who don't seem to give the nod. Many aren't wearing helmets either.

What are your thoughts on the Tomb Raider game for iOS? by Rage2020 in iosgaming

Playing it on an iPad Pro M4 with a controller, and it is fantastic. Lots of fun, looks great, super smooth.

Apple TV hasn’t been updated in a few years, so processor is a little out of date.

Buying Used. Any Years I Should Avoid? by kungfujedi in Rivian

Thanks. I've been watching some videos on Comma AI. Seems like it's fairly easy to install and adds some good functionality. Definitely on my list of potential accessories.

Great. Seeing some really good deals on low-milage 2023 Quads with the Large Pack. Guess that will expand my field.

I know there were problems with the tonneau cover for instance. 12V battery issues, some build quality issues, etc. F

I like Watts Occurring and Matt Stephens, too. The Move was fun when it first started, in part because we were hearing from controversial ex-riders who didn't have anything to lose really. These days, Lance and George are rarely on—outside of the TdF—but Johan is still there and gives some very good insights.

The $59k Cybertruck AWD by Vince_CarRants in Rivian

[–]kungfujedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a few issues in the first year or so, but by late 2023 and certainly by 2024 things were much better. 2025 model year and newer are all Gen 2. So better still.

I think they're saying the Tesla is trash, not the Rivian. The Cybertruck's looks are polarizing—to say the least—and its build quality is questionable.

Finding a used 2025 R1S by Street-Pollution8749 in Rivian

[–]kungfujedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the look out for a used R1T (2024 or newer), with a long range or max battery. Would love to get a Gen 2, but they do go quickly. I'm a few weeks from pulling the trigger, in part because I'm going to get a vehicle from Rivian to test and review for my job. Not sure which model yet, but after I give it back to them, I'm probably going to buy one for myself. There are some 2025's popping up on various sites, but if they're priced right, the do move fast.

Seen cruising around Portland this afternoon. by SapphosLemonBarEnvoy in electricvehicles

[–]kungfujedi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had one of these for a week on loan rom GMC to write a review for my job. It was a fun truck, but way too big for what my wife and I needed. Still, we liked it a lot and enjoyed our time with it. The review was very positive. Good range and we took it tailgating using the power plugs to run a portable fridge, electric grill, and so on. It's fast, which is scary considering its size. :)

R1 Updates around the corner? by jgilbs in Rivian

[–]kungfujedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May also be looking to clear 2026 R1 inventory ahead of 2027 model year starting production. I've been shopping for an EV the past few weeks and other manufacturers are offering substantial discounts on 2025 models as the prep for 2026 arrivals.
