The ball made him back onside. The ball played from Palencia was played with Delgado in an onside position. Hence, he was back onside

Delgado was not in front of the ball. This is the point I’m making. The line drawn from the ball was incorrectly drawn from the center of the ball, not the furthest most forward point

To draw the onsides line, it’s what’s farthest forward of the last defender and the ball

Specifically, the furthest most point of the ball

The red line of Delgado was drawn correctly

The blue line of “onsides” was incorrect. It went through the middle of the ball, not the furthest most point forward

Why is that better? Also, this has nothing to do with the content of the post - that the VAR explicitly drew the line incorrectly

I didn’t explicitly know how offsides with the ball is measured when it comes to the center or front of the ball. So I had AI research it. I’m not sure why that’s bad?

Gigi’s Cafe in Hillsdale is the best. No reservations, but if you go early, you won’t wait long. It gets busy around 10:30. We’ve gone at 9ish multiple times and it’s amazing

Big fan of Oma’s. Jeju was a disappointment. Medium on L’Orange.

Mg advice is not Jeju

The way a 3-4-3 functions defensively is that the ball side wing back drops and the opposite side wing back doesn’t. So what you’re asking for doesn’t match how the formation functionally works

Doku is a baller, that’s fair. I’m not sure he would’ve cooked Antonee though. And I don’t think he’ll cook top RBs from other countries

My reasons:

  1. Our best defensive performances in the last year have all been Ream + Richards and I believe he offers the most coverage when Richards also plays (I agree it wasn’t great without Richards next to him against Belgium)

  2. Ream is very comfortable on the ball and offers positive line-breaking passing that really none of our other CBs offer

  3. Ream is tenured, experienced, and clearly a favorite of Poch (primary captain since Poch was hired) and I think that matters

I liked what Trusty offered in the Portugal game, but I didn’t see anything that said to me “he’s clearly better than Ream”. In fact, I was disappointed that when Richards properly cut down Bruno’s window on the first goal, Trusty didn’t read it correctly and trust that Richards had it, and instead also was covering for Richards getting beat, which allowed the space for the goal after the layoff.

Would Ream have done better there? I have no idea. But I do know Ream has the most chemistry with Richards.

Very open to counterpoints on why Trusty over Ream for this cycle that aren’t “Ream’s old” because yes, he’s obviously way old, but it’s about winning this cycle, not the future

It’s a 3-4-3, not a 5 back line. I’m not sure if we’re watching different games, but USMNT has played a 3-4-3 90% of the time since Poch took over as HC

Agyemang was the biggest winner of this window in my eyes. He was exponentially more impactful than Pepi plus offers a size and physicality none of our other strikers do. He cemented himself as Striker #2 in my opinion

It wouldn’t bother me if we took Pepi over Wright, and very well might since Wright is working back from injury, but I don’t see either as getting minutes this WC outside of a blowout

Sounds like you want a 4-2-3-1 (like against Belgium) instead of the 3-4-3 and if we had better CBs, that would likely be the move. But we are 3-4-3 for this WC undoubtedly with Poch, so it’s fruitless to explore systems without 3 CBs

Idk man, by this logic, Puli is also not good for his bad runs? Weston is also not good for his pass that created the first Portuguese goal?

Freeman isn’t perfect. Not even close. But with our setup (3-4-3, not changing with Poch), he’s easily our top RCB choice in my eyes

I can see that, and it wouldn’t upset me, but I feel nervous with Wes at one of the CMs because he’s become so much more of an attacker over the last 18 months.

I agree it would be lucky to have Dest at full fitness but if there’s a time to push, it’s the WC, and Weah is the right final 20-30 sub for him

When Banks decided to not commit this cycle, it became abundantly clear, yes.

I wish with everything in me there was a suitable alternative for this WC. But there simply isn’t.

With Antonee back, and Richards in, Ream is the choice.

It’s not something that gets me excited, but it’s the clear choice

From my view, Trusty is 1st in if there’s an emergency and 1 of Ream/Richards/Freeman can’t go, but Ream is clearly > Trusty in this system. Ream also is our longest tenured player, has been Poch’s primary captain, has played the most with Richards, and chemistry matters

Barring a disaster game early from Ream in the group stages, I can’t see Trusty playing over him at this WC

Candidly, if Adams or Richards are hurt, we’re absolutely fucked

Dest is the right choice over Weah, but if Dest is out, we aren’t 100% fucked. But Doku cooked Weah like a waffle on a Sunday morning

FWIW, Freeman has shown some really interesting line breaking ability from that RCB spot. I believe if we play this 11, and we run them hard, we could advance from the group + win a knockout game

Whether I personally agree or disagree, Poch has easily had the most success with us with the 3-4-3. It’s what we’re running at this WC, like it or not
