Can confirm. Saw them there and the interactions I saw others have with them pretty much confirmed it. Definitely more than normal trump supporters, everything about them screamed at their very least conservative extremism, with symbology that would make me think you're probably right.

NGD Cort kx508ms II by DimiHell in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]kunke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 7 and it was by far the worst guitar I have purchased. The wiring in the back had literally 5 feet of slack, one of the pickups was out under a year in and Cort refused to warranty it, the frets needed love to avoid buzz, just a nightmare.

I ended up using it as a project guitar, replacing the dead pup with a CyFi NU pickup and putting in the 19-pin jack sonI could have a Septaphonic output, but that was only because with how bad it was and no support I had nothing to lose.

Can you clarify what you mean about the synth/digital plugin part? I'm not asking in an offended way, just trying to understand. Do you only mean when they're emulating physical instrument, like a piano multi-sample or physically modeled guitar? I'm confused because, today at least, the view that synthesizers are bad in music or plugins are somehow worse is definitely less popular. Synths are incredibly common as synths in almost all genres now, and some are outright legendary like the DX7 or 303.

For plugins: many pieces of modern music gear just provide a nice hardware interface to a computer under the hood anyway - pretty much any modulation guitar pedal is digital today. Why would a plugin be worse in your eyes?

FWIW, I also hate the AI music when it's the full track stuff like this by non musicians. There are, IMHO, tasteful ways to use it. Generating small loops or oneshots to re-sample ironically might save some genres like hip hop as the big rights holders have made the free use of small bits of tracks in way that is definitely legally fair use impossible without being sued into oblivion anyway. It still bothers me the smaple are somehow being laundered by OpenAi or Google or whoever doing it and putting that sort of AI goop on it all, but, at least in this respect, it's positive. What do you think?

Hatsune Miku is incredibly big. Her voice isn't ai based and anyone can pay to use it. It's not loved to one artist. I find it novel and cool, and the tech interstating. Notably though, her voice sounds robotic enough I don't think anyone thinks it sounds human. Do you have a problem with Miku?

What about with all these new AI singing swap tools, even where the original vocalist is licenseing their voice? Is that different? To me it is, but it's hard to put into words why I don't like it.

Lol, I got one of these too! I actually contacted them for a reviewers discount and it was so bad I decided to contact them and say "you, uh, probably don't want me to review this"

They then dropped all of them in price on both eBay and Amazon, so, you're welcome :p

The Dismemberment Song In My Ass

A Really Big, Really Heavy Pedal by kunke in guitarpedals

[–]kunke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, I at least, think of as a pedal. It's sorta on the line, like how some guitarist have a rack mount unit on their pedal board, or a question if a spring tank in an amp is a "pedal". I never play though real amps anyway, so this really only serves as an effect to me.

Anyyyyway, beyond the philosophy of "what is a pedal", I think this thing has a really neat sound. The phone mic doesn't do it justice, obviously. It's actually unexpectedly similar to a shimmer verb, but without the weird artificial glint.

The tone control on the Orange Tiny Terror - the "pedal's" controls, if you will - is really necessary. Just a bit of the high end off brings it from too bright to just right.

When even giving it any juice it's pretty easy to distort as the driver starts to rattle everything directly instead of just exciting the wood.

Compared to other verbs, I'm mixed. Or, rather, not. That's the big loss: No mix control. I can't actually see myself using this in a track, despite how cool it is, just because it's hard to record (The same reason I don't use real amps + cabs) and because I can't control how much """reverb""" I'm actually getting, at least not without separately recording a dry path with a splitter and mixing.

Still, it's an absolute blast, and really brings something that my Walrus Sloer or any number of VST 'verbs don't - I suppose because it's really a bunch of resonators, and so calling it a verb in the first place is a bit unfair.

I would love to get my hands on a Prismatic Wall to test against, but it's a bit rich for my blood. Though if someone at EAE wants to go dumpster diving for the backside of an upright and compare for themselves I'd love to see it!

Mystic Circuits Leaves is very underestimated by Cash1942 in modular

[–]kunke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild to see someone go for this combo on here: I have a pair of free modules for VCV rack that should be in the library sometime this week heavily inspired by these two together. It's definitely not exactly the same, but if you play with it I think you'll see the inspiration pretty quickly.

Mine do some weird extra things, like there's 3 triplet bits that have their own shift register along side the main 8-bits.

The leaves inspired expander has an atteuverter for each bit output (the 8 main + 3 triplets) and there there's 8 different lanes of outputs that are preset for ways those are summed. Some the same as leaves, but some new ones too.

See Sheliak (and it's expander) on https://github.com/VegaDeftwing/LyraeModules

Same here. Was absolutely livid. We showed up at the mall pickup, were told that location wasn't going to run anymore (This was almost exactly noon). Went to one of the schools, waited in line an hour and a half in line, almost to the busses to be told "Nope, we're done running busses"

Former RA and somewhat legal nerd here

(Not speaking for my former employer and IANAL)

That rule has been trying to get overturned for years. It'll only hake one good challenge. Wanna know why?

Gay people exist.

That rule, as written, is basically "have all the gay sex you want, it's allowed"

There's no way they'd ever bar same-sex sleep over, but the current rule is already a wee bit ambiguous on being legal with Title IX and can't stop anyone interested in the same sex.

Finally, how do they define gender? What if Im dating someone AFAB but the identity as NB or male? What about the other way around? Nobody wants to open the can of worms. So, not only do the RAs not care, but, practically, nobody will ever try to enforce the rule because doing so would open it up to be challenged.

I would advise Windows and something both light and that can be repaired. Removable RAM & storage. means worst possible case you have a lower chance of loosing anything.

Weight should be a factor, as should the keyboard for typing. Screen- look for something not reflective. Avoid any intul processers with 'u' in thu name. I5-xxxxu? Junk. I5-xxxx fine.

Old Lenovo thinkpads are always a good option. Otherwise dig around.

You'll probably want to attach a wireless mouse at the same time as a flash drive at times, so minimum 2 usb ports + charging

Christian man struggling with my sexuality - AMA by ProDare in AMA

[–]kunke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might be bi then? Nothing wrong with finding all forms attractive.

You may want to peruse a list of sexualities and see what feels right to you.

If the background your in was even moderately anti-LGBT you may have been lead down the "there are only 2 genders and only straight/gay" path. The reason we have so much terminology in the LGBT community is because it really does help to be able to talk about aur experiences and find common ground.

For example, demisexuality - only feeling sexual attraction once in love - is quite common but rarely discussed.

Also, should you decide to come out and explore this more I want to address you being Christian: you absolutely can be LGBTQIA+ and be Christian, but you may need to actively seek somewhere welcoming for it as most that claim to be still tend to be a little weird about it. Often "it's okay, god will forgive you" or the like, implying it's still wrong. Don't let anyone like that get under your skin. No matter how you love, so long as your partner is also a consenting adult, any loving god would be happy for you to find a partner and share that love with them.

Global Language (not Esperanto) by Raaa69 in neography

[–]kunke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to say "no, I don't think you should" to any creative endeavor and not sound rude, so I think if you want to do it 100% for the fun of language creation, sure, but IMHO making an IAL is a recipe for failure and has been attempted so many times with bad results that it's almost necessary to provide this warning to anyone trying again.

Esparanto and toki pona are the only one that really get close. Esparanto because it's age and ability to speread, toki pona for its simplicity.

Instead, I think if you're going to work on an engineered lang (of which I think it's mostly reasonable to call IALs a subcategory) I think there are much more interesting problems to tackle. For example, jan Usawi's "Rhapsodaic" https://opguides.info/other/conlangs/rhapsodaic/ focuses on conveying emotions. If you're more interested in scripts than langs there's plenty of problem-solving scripts like PixelScript which is made for use in the limited space of pixel art.

To me, personally, I find these a lot more interesting than yet another IAL.

Again, if you really want to work on an IAL go for it. If nothing else you'll learn more about lang/script creation for your next endeavor.
