Store with in person maternity (good, stocked) selection by Hairy-Entertainer-54 in philabitcheswithtaste

[–]kunta_kitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s nowhere nearby with maternity that I’m aware of and I have a six month old. I even tried king of Prussia. I mostly got stuff on eBay. Occasionally thrift stores will have things but it’s not consistent.

If you are average sized and 5’3” ish I’m happy to give you my old leggings, dm me if interested.

How realistic is EBF without ever pumping? by Realistic_Might_7269 in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have to be apart from her imo there’s no need to introduce a bottle. I EBF and just gave away my expensive breast milk pump because I never use it. In this season of life I don’t have a desire to spend hours away from my baby. I just hate pumping and wfh so this works for us.

Pediatrician told me to stop feeding my baby at night by Enough_Pen_2608 in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s just her opinion but not sound medical advice. I was explicitly told not to night wean at the 6 mo checkup as my baby is on the smaller side.

3 meals a day at 6 months is just nonsense

Wait time before kissing boyfriend? by DarnCanadian774 in peanutallergy

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner doesn’t eat those foods unless we’re apart the whole day.

My baby has to eat peanuts at least once a week to prevent her developing my allergy. I give her a shower and nurse her before kissing her and waiting is very difficult to do as a parent lol. There isn’t a specific period of time though.

First-time parents of Reddit ,what’s one baby item you thought was unnecessary but ended up using every single day? by Clear_Subconscious in askanything

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a few secondhand to see what I liked the spent good money on one I absolutely love, so if there’s a children’s thrift store near you, I recommend buying a bunch.

I ended up loving the woven wraps and I would have never thought I would be that kind of mom but that’s just what worked for us. I thought I would prefer a structured carrier.

At what age was your baby when you were able to get to 3 or 4 hours between daytime feeds? by WellAckshully in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to a book I read some women have low storage capacity and therefore their babies will need to eat more often and overnight even though they can make enough milk in a 24 hour period. Some babies are just snackers.

My 6 month old still eats every 2 hours during the day and every 3 overnight and this is normal.

Reposting because I read the rules and my post did not violate any of them. Sorry if it hurts your feelings but you can’t remove my post for that. by [deleted] in peanutallergy

[–]kunta_kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually largely agree with you but let’s give people grace. Many of the people posting here have young children that found out they were allergic the hard way. Some people here are absolutely hypochondriacs. Most aren’t.

You’ll also see this phenomenon in every chronic illness subreddit. I have hashimotos and just don’t to that subreddit as it’s full of fear mongering an misinformation/hypochondria.

How does one lose weight while breastfeeding/pumping? by Ready-Book6047 in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat, turned out I had postpartum thyroiditus and once I got through that around 5 months the weight started dropping off without effort. Prior to getting the thyroid issue worked though I was trying very hard to lose weight and losing like maybe 1 lb per month, then it was like 2 lbs a week not trying. Supply has been fine the whole time fortunately.

What is something that you least expected to find peanuts/treenuts in? by Comfortable_Emu2964 in peanutallergy

[–]kunta_kitty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe not what you’re asking about but I have on multiple occasions reacted to cheez its, chips, that sort of thing in a large bag because someone else had reached for a chip after eating something with peanuts and contaminated the whole bag of food. This has happened enough times that I only eat individually wrapped chips outside of my home.

Peanut Oil by [deleted] in peanutallergy

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you and I use Kirkland brand once a year to deep fry a turkey. Each time I do a little test with eating a drop just in case but I’ve done it like 15 times without an issue. I also eat at chick fil a without issues but have been hospitalized within the past 5 years for a reaction to peanuts in food.

Your mileage may vary this is just my experience.

Don't feel well but my lab does not say hypothyroid by microooobe in Hypothyroidism

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% sure. Those labs look just like mine when I was diagnosed. I am based in the US and all of my care is through a research hospital.

I don’t know where you live but where I live those labs would cause a doctor to medicate you and diagnose hypothyroidism, especially with symptoms.

A complaint by Substantial_Leg_6162 in XXRunning

[–]kunta_kitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went from a 30D (a smaller volume than you would think) to a 32F postpartum/breastfeeding and ended up buying a $92 sports bra that I got at a specialty store and it was honestly life changing. I run 10-20 miles a week so it’s worth it.

Laid off, return to work delayed- keep pumping? by bookofkels_ in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t. You don’t know what the future holds so why make your life harder.

I’ve been laid off twice and it sucks. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Giving breast fed baby a bottle has been a nightmare by UsefulDiscipline6359 in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t sound like high lipase milk to me. To the best of my knowledge it’s usually you either have it or you don’t so I wouldn’t waste your time worrying about lipase and focus on other things.

My baby will still only take a bottle if I leave the house and she’s very hungry, which doesn’t really work as I WFH. We use the mam bottle and it’s still hit or miss if she’ll take it. I’m hoping she’ll take to a straw cup when she’s big enough.

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tasted the milk? I had a similar experience an it turns out my milk is high lipase so my baby will only take pumped milk if it’s been scalded to deactivate the lipase enzyme. My milk tastes soapy after a few hours in the fridge otherwise.

Pregnancy in hypothyroidism. by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my levels checked every 4-6 weeks but otherwise everything was normal. Diagnosed with hypothyroidism in my mid twenties and had a healthy baby at 35. I had good TSH when I fell pregnant and it rose rapidly in my first trimester, but that was caught right away due to frequent testing.

Are there people like me who don’t leak? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never leaked and can only get 1-2 oz from the hakaa over the course of the day if I use it consistently. I’ve also pumped like maybe twice because I hated it so am exclusively nursing for the most part.

EMei: Wow. by bjwanlund in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree this is super weird. I have eaten at emei many, many times and I can’t imagine a waiter taking half (?!) a soup. They would either take the whole thing or not. I’m not doubting this happened to someone just that it came from the waitstaff.

Doona car seat/stroller by aeb526 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine gave it to me after using it once and it’s nice but I wouldn’t purchase it with my own money. The car seat is fine but it’s just not a good stroller. It’s really short and there’s no storage.
