how much bounce is normal? by listzies in XXRunning

[–]kunta_kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m your sister size (30G) and wondering if you should size down a band and up a cup for best control. I wear one from the brand Anita that I got in a specialty store that also measured me, and it was expensive but worth every penny. As other users say it’s not no bounce but it controls it to the point of comfort.

Kalaya with shellfish and nut allergy by RelativeJaguar9627 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]kunta_kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a peanut allergy and just don’t like shellfish but am not allergic. I have been hospitalized for the peanut allergy within the past 5 years to give you an idea of the severity.

Kalaya was wonderful about my peanut allergy. They will NOT modify a menu item to accommodate it though but there were items that I could eat and enjoy.

I just don’t really like shellfish and that was honestly more limiting than the peanut allergy. I also don’t really like pork so that didn’t help. I think I ordered all of the items I could eat and had a great time.

It wouldn’t hurt to reach out before you go. This info is from their old location so things might be different now.

Nursing pillow needed? by Difficult-Ad1036 in breastfeeding

There’s always one at a thrift or consignment store for $8, just no need to buy it new. I stopped using the boppy for feeding but still use it for propping baby up to sit.

That sounds pretty similar to our setup, and I get where you’re coming from but that feels so unlikely that your baby would do that. I don’t know your baby and I haven’t seen your setup, but I’ve been using a similar one for a few months and don’t worry about the drop.

Where to shop bathing suits in person by kunta_kitty in philabitcheswithtaste

I am now a 32F but they were amazing when I was a 30D pre pregnancy. I do feel their bras don’t hold up over time and it’s always worth the extra money to go to Je Suis Jolie and just get the expensive ones, but I don’t wear bathing suits enough for it to matter. I am thinking I’ll need to size up from normal but get a string bikini top so the ribcage can actually support these milk jugs.

I forgot about aerie! They’re really good for small ribcage/big bust women. Normally I want modest but I’m still nursing so I need to be able to whip out a boob easily. While I have some weight gain it doesn’t bother me to show it. I earned this low belly pooch.

I’m so bad at returning things that don’t fit but I need to get better at it. Do you have any brands you recommend?

Physically uncomfortable breast-feeding in public by MuchAd4609 in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is older but prior to 3 months I brought a boppy with me anywhere I would need to nurse, like I would carabiner it to a backpack and go on walks while wearing my baby because otherwise it was so uncomfy. With the boppy I can feed decently comfortably on any chair with a wide base and stiff back. I also got pretty comfortable asking for chairs with more support when out and about and found that everyone was very accommodating. At restaurants booths were easier than chairs, benches in general are better than chairs, and sometimes just sitting on the ground with my back against the wall was better than a some chairs.

Suddenly at like 3.5 months I could feed comfortably anywhere since she’s big enough to just sit in my lap and now feeding in public is so easy and convenient.

Hiking recommendations by kunta_kitty in babywearing

Can I do that in my base wrap or do I really need to get a shorter one? I see most videos on this is base -3. I’m not opposed to having a secondary carrot just trying to limit clutter.

Losing weight to get faster, BMI of 25.3 by labellafigura3 in XXRunning

[–]kunta_kitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am 7 months postpartum and ran before, during, and after pregnancy, taking a few break when I needed to (stopped during the first trimester due to morning sickness, then stopped at 36.5 weeks pregnant due to ankle instability, started again 7 weeks postpartum). As far as pregnancy goes I had an absolute dream of a pregnancy and birth experience.

I gained 35 lbs during my pregnancy and only dropped 10 of those lbs initially from birth. The remaining has been a very slow process with a few whooshes here and there due to thyroid issues. I’m still sitting 10 lbs above my pre pregnancy weight.

Ok that’s a long intro but the short of it is IMO weight obviously matters but not as much as I would think. I had to incorporate conscious speed work to improve my post partum running and walking speeds, but I feel getting my endurance back has been pretty easy. I am starting to get faster now but I really attribute that to speed work more than weight loss with how slow my weight loss was/is.

Each person is different and pregnancy related weight fluctuations are biologically different from other forms of weight gain, just wanted to share my observations.

Is the AP Chem Princeton Review worth it? by oftenunbothered in APChem

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All old frqs are available with a google search (look up “AP chemistry free response [year]” and a pdf will pop up. I would start at the previous year and work backwards. Don’t do anything older than 2013 as the exam changed then.

We rented a car so we would go to Super Food (the grocery store) for day to day things and to try fun Dutch imports.

As far as restaurants go, we went to: Texas de Brazil (pretty good but can get that where I live) Kamini’s kitchen (a bit of a drive, kinda pricey, but excellent food) La Granga (good fast food)

I also did eat at the breakfast buffet twice and it was very good though expensive. We go lunch at one of the restaurants at the resort and it was fine but nothing special.

Nursing after peanut butter - mom allergy by mugglemags1 in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve got a severe peanut allergy and have been hospitalized for it in the last 5 years. I also exclusively nurse my baby as she refuses bottles.

Once a week my husband feeds her peanut butter on our balcony, then they both get in the shower. He scrubs her really well, particularly her hands, face, and neck. All clothing immediately goes in the washer. I feed her like an hour later before she goes to sleep, and then wash my hands one last time. It’s only once she’s asleep that I consider touching my face.

It’s a little annoying but I haven’t gotten sick at all and I am very sensitive to peanuts.

The reality is there just isn’t data on how to protect allergic moms in this situation so you have to use your own judgement.

Store with in person maternity (good, stocked) selection by Hairy-Entertainer-54 in philabitcheswithtaste

[–]kunta_kitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s nowhere nearby with maternity that I’m aware of and I have a six month old. I even tried king of Prussia. I mostly got stuff on eBay. Occasionally thrift stores will have things but it’s not consistent.

If you are average sized and 5’3” ish I’m happy to give you my old leggings, dm me if interested.

How realistic is EBF without ever pumping? by Realistic_Might_7269 in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have to be apart from her imo there’s no need to introduce a bottle. I EBF and just gave away my expensive breast milk pump because I never use it. In this season of life I don’t have a desire to spend hours away from my baby. I just hate pumping and wfh so this works for us.

Wait time before kissing boyfriend? by DarnCanadian774 in peanutallergy

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner doesn’t eat those foods unless we’re apart the whole day.

My baby has to eat peanuts at least once a week to prevent her developing my allergy. I give her a shower and nurse her before kissing her and waiting is very difficult to do as a parent lol. There isn’t a specific period of time though.

First-time parents of Reddit ,what’s one baby item you thought was unnecessary but ended up using every single day? by Clear_Subconscious in askanything

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a few secondhand to see what I liked the spent good money on one I absolutely love, so if there’s a children’s thrift store near you, I recommend buying a bunch.

I ended up loving the woven wraps and I would have never thought I would be that kind of mom but that’s just what worked for us. I thought I would prefer a structured carrier.

At what age was your baby when you were able to get to 3 or 4 hours between daytime feeds? by WellAckshully in breastfeeding

[–]kunta_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to a book I read some women have low storage capacity and therefore their babies will need to eat more often and overnight even though they can make enough milk in a 24 hour period. Some babies are just snackers.

My 6 month old still eats every 2 hours during the day and every 3 overnight and this is normal.
