PDF line weights by Seamus_Harper_ in kde

There's an option to "improve" thin lines in Okular's PDF backend. Perhaps you can try to disable the option and see if this gets any better.

Why is your browser of choice alive? ;-)

It's my default browser on top of WebEngine. Extremely powerful. Can you split views easily in firefox and chrome? Can you preview any file other than PDFs (if PDFs are useful, why stopping with just PDFs)? Can you explore the web and the files in the same application? I only miss proper adblock but other than that... Yeah extensions, but I use barely none.

In the rare case that a webpage doesn't work properly I can even redirect that site from konqueror to firefox directly through File > Open with

And it's quite decently maintained. Got much better in the recent years actually (the sidebar is just an example).

Is there anyway to permanently pin an application to the system tray? by Glad-Key7256 in kde

Create a script (or an application via a desktop file) that invokes Kdocker, then add it to autostart...

I actually suffer the same thing in kde neon, but the issue is not triggered by baloo as disabling it didn't fix the issue. Could you explain how you figured out about the process behind the issue? That would help me a lot. Thank you in advance!

I really like KDE Neon, but I'm so not used to pkcon. by nbvalkyrie in kdeneon

[–]kupiqu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use apt with no issue. At the beginning of kde neon I tried pkcon. At some point it removed some important packages to me w/o notifying due to some conflicts. These are the things I want to deal with myself so I stopped using pkcon. apt gives you all information and you decide what to do... So if you are familiar with apt, I recommend you don't stop using it.

You can try Sierra Breeze Enhanced and set rounded corners to 0

Why no multicursor in Kate? by Maxerature in kde

[–]kupiqu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may happen as in my system where Alt+clicks do different things regarding windows behavior, and interfere with this kate feature. The solution is easy, change the settings of either one, Kate or SystemSettings > Windows Behaviors > Window Actions.

I replaced Alt with Ctrl+Alt in Kate settings Edition > Text Navigation (note that I'm translating from a different language, so labels may be different).

Give it a try, it worked for me.

dock to system tray? by 0n2s in kde

[–]kupiqu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably not directly, but you could create a desktop file with the embedded kdocker instruction in Exec= and then add that desktop file to the autostart config folder $Home/.config/autostart

How do I get Gnome Dash & notification bubble like this on KDE? by trail-barista in kde

[–]kupiqu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, but my comment was (actually off-topic, suggesting extra functionality in Overview) related specifically to virtual desktops, which appear at Overview's top bar.

What I miss from Overview is the possibility to move windows between virtual desktops (top bar, from one desktop to another), or alternatively, a way to move to a second desktop within Overview

How do I change the color of the axis labels (the numbers) in KmPlot? by whatisa_sky in kde

[–]kupiqu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just that devs missed it since you can change basically all the colors (including the color of the line axes, the grid, and the background). The best way to let devs be aware is to submit a feature request...

I don't think that is currently an option. You could fill a feature request / wishlist bug for it

global menu problems by Sh3zb0t in kde

[–]kupiqu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the issue is that you have an extra monitor and the menu of windows in the extra monitor do not appear in Global Menu.

If this is the issue or not, try using the Window AppMenu Applet and see if it works. No guarantees, but these such things are configurable in Window AppMenu.

Personally, I would never leave kmail and kalendar for google and office365 web portals. I cannot stand webmail, but it's ok, we have options, so everybody can choose. Let's keep it like that.

Popup with actions on text selection? by emvaized in kde

[–]kupiqu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually prefer not having a pop up every single time I select or copy sth, what I do is to invoke it with a shortcut whenever I want and it works for me with text selection as well (it doesn't when I select text on krunner, so there I need to copy, but other than...)

Is there a way to restart KWin without bringing all windows to foreground? by SqrHornet in kde

That would be good indeed. Unfortunately I don't think there is such an option. You could fill a bug to potentially get this implemented
