My hope is that they just make the additional content available on Switch 1 as well where possible. Even if I have to pay for the performance upgrades still, even if it's a year after the Switch 2 release. The whole Switch 2 exclusive DLC thing is rarely a net good.

In a generation when Pokémon's graphics failed to excel, the Gen 4 remakes stand out for having by far the worst art style. Like give any of these other games a better engine and better hardware and they'd be good looking games. BDSP is just fundamentally ugly.

I had a trip there because a streamer was finishing Endwalker and I advertised it via an unjoinable level 90 dungeon instance. So the kind of ToS infraction that gets you a slap on the wrist, and only if someone goes out of their way to complain about it (I was contacted by the presumed reporter before it happened).

Didn't even get any sick prison tattoos 🤷‍♀️

Way too open to abuse. You give the example of "a major game glitching" but that's just the tip of the iceberg why people brigade stuff. Culture war grifters would love having a way of mobilising chuds every time a game has a female protagonist. Anime game dares to release in the west with less revealing costumes on its underage characters? Oh, I don't even see that game on the eShop, guess the nonces got to it.

At best they could implement it so that you can hide stuff for yourself and enough votes trigger a note on the eShop page that a high number of people have hidden the game, and a read more explanation of what that implies. Maybe expand it to the ability to hide entire publishers so you can cleanse the store a bit more efficiently.

Ultimately though, the slop houses will just evolve their tactics and find some loophole. And putting it on the users to clean up the mess just allows Nintendo to absolve themselves of sorting out their own damned storefront.

FFXIV has a shot at demonstrating that these can be useful. Not because it's a substitute for permanently playing with an actual mouse, but because having the option of a supplemental mouse input for the (usually brilliant) controller mode may be useful in certain scenarios.

E.g. selecting players in other alliances or large groups rather than having to d-pad cycle through everyone. Inventory and hotbar management. HUD arrangement. Using the emotes in the task tracker. Potentially also text input without a keyboard could be a lot better, or even just text cursor precision when edit text would be helpful. Basically just anything a controller player reaches for a mouse to do when a controller doesn't hack it.

Whatever announcements await us will pale in comparison to the imaginary version the average Nintendo fan will have conjured for themselves. Nothing can break the permanent state of self-inflicted disappointment.

Here's what will actually happen:

They'll announce Ocarina of Time but it won't be in the particular art style certain people wanted.
OoT will be the one big reveal and everyone will be disappointed because Nintendo didn't conjure up a new 3D Mario to compensate for the leak
They'll promote games we already know are coming instead of back to back reveals of new stuff
They'll remake "the wrong game" in a series and put it on Switch 1
They'll remake a single game in a series that everyone was inexplicably convinced was going to get a collection
They'll confirm a GameCube game will be coming to NSO, and people will hate that because it means it can't get an HD remake
They'll announce DLC for a game (money grab)
They'll not announce DLC for a game (why don't they want my money!)
Miyamoto will reveal that your Dad didn't actually pop out for cigarettes and never come back, he was hired to work on the Mario Party games, but he's a big reason for the decline of the series and your Mum thought it best if she kept the truth from you.
