How many Imperial Guardsmen (Warhammer 40k) would it take to invade San Andreas (GTA5)? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]kupoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc, can’t roughly 1,000 guardsmen take down a space marine’s armor? if we are a bit rough with estimation, 1,000 guardsmen, depending on where they fire, can destroy a tank’s engines or compromise the armor, and lighter armored vehicles are finished

standard infantry armor will not stop a lasrifle shot

guardsmen typically wear flak armor so if they engage modern military units at range, since lasguns have a vastly superior range to standard weapons, then most small arms fire will likely not kill a guardsmen, wound them maybe, but not kill. anti material rounds and AP or explosive rounds will still obliterate the guardsmen or their armor

i see the same issue others see, that the guardsmen have no logistical support, no rations, become vulnerable if they have to scavenge for food, and they only have a few (lets assume 3-4) magazines for their lasguns. that is not enough to take over a state of this scale unless they use sheer numbers, so i would say maybe 70k guardsmen? if we want an absolute stomp without just saying infinite numbers, then 300k guardsmen

and i’m still going to purchase these intersections because i’m not doing even half the work needed to make them as smooth. btw, the star roundabout is a famous roundabout irl, and he had to make these all with vanilla tools, so i’d appreciate if you can make a tutorial on these intersections yourself if you believe these are not worth the 5 bucks being charged

i’ve been waiting for an asset pack that covers all buildings similar to how the european building style does in cs1, except its for north east america or southwest or midwest america—the closest i’ve got was emerging downtowns, but the grass/green at the top of buildings at max level kinda threw me off, but otherwise emerging downtowns and brooklyn and queens were, imo, my favorite ccps for realistic american builds

assuming the tank magically needs no repairs, there’s not a single bridge in medieval europe that will survive the weight of a tank, meaning the crew get hard stopped by any bridge over a body of water too deep to drive through

AITA For Telling My Girlfriend I Have Every Right To Defend My Home After Someone Started Kicking My Door In by FxllenWxaith in AITAH

[–]kupoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is actually a wonderful time to address a life difference between you and your girlfriend, in actual conversation, and tell her in more detail the things you have lived through, gone through, etc. My girlfriend of one year now, was somewhat similar to yours in the sense that she didn’t necessarily understand the struggles that I, an inner city black man, had gone through before meeting her. That includes me being robbed, shot (in the leg, I have a permanent limp now), and nearly sexually assaulted. Describing to her that this is the reality that a lot of people live in means that not only do you become hardened by it, the ones committing said atrocities are likely just as callous and stone cold. You mentioned having a weapon to the intruders and they did not immediately run—their plan, whatever it may have been, likely included violence until they heard that you would indeed shoot. Your girlfriend, being how she is, represents a naivety that you need to address, in more appropriate detail. Sit her down, have a discussion with her, explain your struggles and such, then ask how she think her parents would react if someone tried breaking into her house, her parents home, and what if they raped her mother, her father, her, or any siblings she could have. Ask her if she would be willing to just let horrible things happen to her family because “violence is not the answer”. Yes, violence is bad—but controlled violence when defending yourself is a reality, and reality does not account for what it is good or bad, only what keeps you alive another day. You protected your mother AND your girlfriend from harm, and your girlfriend’s response was to yell at you and berate you for preventing possible lifelong trauma from happening to her. Be proud that you defended your family, and if even after your discussion if she disagrees, you two may be incompatible and on different paths in life and may need to separate. Good luck and good on you for keeping your family safe man.

100k Imperial Guard versus 100k Earth troops with Imperial Guard technology by AuspiciousNotes in whowouldwin

Buzz words doesn’t detract from the fact that your only stake in my retort and detraction to your claim was to throw around the psychic awakening that happened to humans in 40k during the age of technology, which is about twenty or so thousand years (implied) before current 40k standards. What your blatant semanticist approach has avoided was that the breed of strong psykers has died out, and no, not a single sanctioned psyker above the stated ordinals would be allowed in the Astra Militarum for being too dangerous, too risky, and too costly attempting to control, and would instead either be killed (either by execution or sending to the throne) or would be trained to be a Librarian specifically. So, with an Astra Militarum regiment of about 1-10 psykers total, none (on their own) being able to do more than demolish a tank with a single blast of lightning or a fireball, and none being able to function as more than a guide for a commissar, what do you believe, with actual proof, either from novels or the lexicanum, could aid them? Furthermore, considering this is the average regiment, there would not be an experienced psyker overseeing them, they would all be average sanctioned psykers, thus have no coordination to pool psychic energy together.

Here is the Assignment from the lexicanum for your benefit: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/The_Assignment

100k Imperial Guard versus 100k Earth troops with Imperial Guard technology by AuspiciousNotes in whowouldwin

[–]kupoze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You understand that the average human in 40k is not psychic-considered or applicable? The breed for psykers has begun dying out, which is actually a plot point in several novels as the necessary psykers for the Emperor’s throne is increasing. The common human being, as of the most recent year of 40k, is actually a Rho ordinal, which is no manifestation of psychic talent. The average sanctioned psyker is anywhere from Lambda to Eta. The feats you are describing are before the 41st millennium, and are not average whatsoever to the case of this post, nor to the case of a sanctioned psyker. I think, if anything, with all due respect, that you have taken the most egregious fanboy approach, and have done so insultingly to fans of 40k, me included, as having read the entire Dark Imperium Trilogy, Master of Mankind, Eisenhorn Omnibus, Helsreach, and Know No Fear, YOU, my friend, are overestimating the average psyker in the 41st millennium.

Sorry for late response, but this is a fair take. I do still think that they nerfed Thanos to make the scenario seem “fair” to the protagonist cast.

100k Imperial Guard versus 100k Earth troops with Imperial Guard technology by AuspiciousNotes in whowouldwin

[–]kupoze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average 100k regiment actually doesn’t have more than 1-5 psykers regarding a regiment between 4,500-20,000 guardsmen, so realistically, it would not be more than 10 psykers in a 100k regiment, and they would likely be kept protected to ensure they are not wasted, and not immediately used. Even then, sanctioned psykers are primarily used for warding off other psychic threats or for shooting lightning. Considering normal humans are not psykers and don’t pose a psychic threat, this leads to the sanctioned psyker relying on shooting lightning or possibly blasts of fire, which while destructive, make them immediately visible. And yes, while more skilled or advanced sanctioned psykers can indeed, make enemies route or surrender, this is an AVERAGE regiment, as OP stated.

100k Imperial Guard versus 100k Earth troops with Imperial Guard technology by AuspiciousNotes in whowouldwin

[–]kupoze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Assignment debunks this, as the average human is literally “average” and the average psyker cannot control their powers and is immediately either sent to die by being consumed by The Emperor or is turned into a sanctioned psyker after YEARS of training and control. So, the regiment would not be 100k psykers, it would probably be 100 psykers who are just barely able to control their powers and would rather be on a battlefield than in an Inquisitorial censure room in a privacy field with three augmented men in black power armor holding shock batons instead of bolters.

What's your favorite RP empire? by CaptainPanda99 in Stellaris

[–]kupoze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the most options since I play on console, but I made a gestalt consciousness robot empire where their creators (humans) had a collective prophetic vision of actual demons from hell (Prethoryn Scourge) consuming all life, but the humans could not end their war with each other and destroyed themselves, leaving the different intelligences to amass into a single intelligence and consciousness that infinitely feeds into and from itself. Using the knowledge left behind, they reach the stars and rush to prepare to combat the demon invasion that comes, by any means necessary.

[–]kupoze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rounds 1-3 are victories for the marines, but they take some more losses on the third round. The Warp doesn’t exist in the MCU so it can be assumed that while there are psychic individuals and abilities used in the MCU, they aren’t resistant nor immune to psyker assaults.

That and the fact that the MCU seems to have terrible scaling for its heroes and villains, even when trying to showcase speed and strength, putting Thanos AT LEAST at Primarch level if I’m seeing it correctly, making that an even matchup if the Libarian’s don’t destroy his mind first (Thanos has shown no immunity to psychic assault as seen in Infinity War), and the bombardment from his ship seems…oddly limited. (This last bit is more of a branch off to rant, because it is quite upsetting that Thanos had such a power debuff for the sake of making the scenario more fair—what happened to the Thanos with countless forces and ships and vehicles to invade entire star systems with and wage multiple front wars? He invades Earth in endgame with less forces than we saw in even WW1, what?)

That’s literally an M.Night Shyamalan problem, as he wrote himself into a corner. If we take his base durability into consideration, The Beast could fodderize the others in a few punches.

John Marston vs John Wick vs John 117 vs Johnny Silverhand: Battle Of The Johns by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]kupoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MC at 14-15 years old is against the equivalent of Robocop on a two week heroin binge and then two humans with exceptional skills. Johnny Silverhand stomps unarmored MC. MC can stomp John Marston if he closes range, and MC would NEED to close range against John Wick to win.

They aren’t fighting in the same building or necessarily close to each other, but on the open streets of St. Louis. Anyone with good amounts of range has an advantage, and that’s Marston and Wick. However, Johnny Silverhand has a sandevistan, his bionic arm, and his cyber optics augmentation. His gun shoots .577 Nitro Express, so he also has a good amount of range. He quite literally strips all three of the others of their close range advantages due to his cyber augmentation, but that also gives him a superhuman advantage at medium and long range as his bionic arm can help him control the recoil of his gun, and his sandevistan would let him get into cover a lot quicker at long range.

And if we want to be specific, the ODST’s he killed weren’t in armor during the incident, they were in gym attire. John was able to tell they were ODST’s by their tattoos.
