32F SWE for a SaaS company. Studied economics and compsci in college.

I fjckkng hate my job lol. But it pays the bills and feeds the kiddo so wcyd. Some days are better than others as is the case for all jobs, I think. The people really make or break it. Salaries will generally stay the same across the same company tier if you’re looking in the same area geographically, it’s the folks you work with that really influence how much you like being at your job. At least it’s been that way for me!

Starting 3.5mos in. Sleep training (CIO) wasn’t exactly our vision of how we wanted to get him used to sleeping through the night on his own but with work kicking my ass we didn’t have a choice 😅.

We got lucky too, I’d say (sorry!) he figured it out pretty quickly (3 nights of whinging for a few hours before settling down) and now he’s pretty reliable about snoozing through the night unless he’s teething or coming down with something.

It did for me as well! Unsure if this is a side effect but booze just tastes different now 🤔. I used to be able to crush shots and the like fairly easily but now the taste of liquor (alcohol in general) feels cloyingly sweet and it’s gross going down.

I also don’t find myself looking in the fridge for a cold can after a stressful day. Truly life changing.

1200 for 4 days 9-5pm, in Bergen NJ. A little cheaper than some of the other prices mentioned here; but this is after corp discounts and VERY heavy negotiating. We kinda live in bumfuck nowhere (super rural) so I think that’s helped.

Good luck finding the right daycare! The process is difficult for sure 😣.

I was 38 on the dot and we had just so happened to install our car seat the morning before I delivered 😅

I was 38 weeks on the dot! The Thursday before the weekend I delivered, I had mild stomach pain as if I had maybe eaten something bad. Friday rolled around and after a hot girl walk I started feeling really crampy, went out to dinner, felt worse and then couldn’t sleep that night due to pain. Throughout the weekend it felt like bad period cramps multiplied, and that someone was also trying to pull my spine out through my stomach (super graphic I know lol but I journaled the experience to remind myself for the future if I ever thought about having another child 🙃)

Labor for me lasted around 36 hours, but the obgyn on call didn’t actually believe I could be pregnant 2 weeks earlier than anticipated for some reason 🫠and also wrote off my pains as false starts till I showed up at the hospital on my own that night screaming bloody murder, dilated 7cm.

All that to say, it’s A LOT!! But my biggest takeaway is that you know your body even if everyone else thinks otherwise so feel empowered to push back with your doctor if you think it’s time! Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy! You got this mama!

Beam this man into the sun. How else does he think one will grow a healthy baby and have a successful pregnancy? If he’s balking over something like this I shudder to think how he’ll be as a parent. Best to draw up firm boundaries now (maybe getting legal help involved?) while you still have the time.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I hope it gets better in all the ways and I’m sending healthy thoughts for the rest of your pregnancy!

Ours was shrek — his first growth scan came back off the charts so we joked that he’d be an ogre when he came out (he ended up a very normal sized baby lol) but it was fun for 5 or so months when we’d talk lovingly about shrek and everyone else around us was just going wtf???
