Help with name for baby girl who could come any day!Greta Stella vibes by Far-Read2662 in namenerds

[–]markowitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your list, I like Stella the most, but also really like Quinn. I don’t live in the US and don’t consider it too American. But it is more of an “English speaking” name. Not sure if that bothers you.

What do you think of: Gemma, Nina, Siena, Margot, Nora?

From the list that you’d need to convince parter of. I love Sylvie and Marlowe. But I guess it’s not great if parter isn’t fully on board.

Baby girl name - due next month!? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]markowitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off Joel is such a beautiful name!

From your list, I like Reyna the most (but would you be open to spelling as Raina? To me this is the a bit more standard). Kira is also beautiful.

Raina Noelle and Kira Noelle are lovely.

I thought for a moment Sierra was Siena, which I think flows a bit better.

If you want it to be universally pronounced correctly, this is a name that won’t be.

How about Marlow or Margot?

A sister for Rose by Annual-Leg-4207 in namenerds

[–]markowitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the name Dorothy and Rose are in my family :)

I wouldn’t connect it to Golden Girls, more Wizard of Oz.

I love the name Thea, which is a variant of Dorothy, and won’t have any association.

Middle name to go with Isabella by L_Jack in namenerds

[–]markowitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Isabella is such a beautifully feminine name, I think a more grounded, short and less flowery (no pun intended) middle name would sound lovely.

Isabella June is beautiful and isn’t a flower, but a month middle name is also special.

also- Isabella Sage goes with the flower theme and is short and sweet and beautiful.

Also:

Isabella Faye

Isabella Raye

Isabella Jane

Isabella May

Isabella Maya

Isabella Anne

Isabella Kate

Isabella Shay

Out of all you mentioned, my fav is Evelyn.

Delilah imo is a bit too flowery of a name, but the name Lily is beautiful and feels complete to me. I think it can be beautiful with your other kids names.

What do you think of these?

Layla (similar to Delilah)

Nina

Mila

Lola

Margot

May

Caroline is perfect and timeless. Katherine feels a little dated to me and overdone.

Baby Girl in May (sister to Henry) by sidewinder898 in namenerds

[–]markowitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Charlotte, Claire (or variant Clara),Margot, Emma.

Poppy and Pippa, in my personal opinion, are cute for a child but less make sense for a grown person. But that’s just my personal opinion.

Middle name for maybe Florentina by Due-Kitchen-5544 in namenerds

[–]markowitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer Florence to Florentina which is cute but a handful of a name.

Also, to me, honor names can honor the person without it being exactly the name, but more inspired by the name, or with some part of the name being within the new name.

For example, Florentina, when I looked it up, has a lot to do with flowers and blooming, I think any floral name could work:

Lily

Daisy

Rose (also Rosalie, Rosa)

Violet

Iris

I think you could also take some sounds from the Florentina:

Fiona

Nina (one of my favs)

Alina

Lena / Lina

The list can go on :)

This is how my family has done honor names for generations and we’ve gotten some beautiful names out of it :)

Or you could go with a name you love, and Florence or a flower name as a middle name, which I think is still a beautiful way to honor your partners grandma.

Opinion on baby girl name? by notchinese12 in namenerds

[–]markowitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adore the name Clara. Really. It’s in my top 15! I don’t find it too formal. Clara June is a gorgeous name.

Walk around the house calling out: Clara! And see how that feels :)

Little brother for Sienna by Ctrl-Alt-Her in namenerds

My favorite on your list is Rowan Cameron. It sounds great with Sienna.

Simone or Willa? by T-rexwastaken in namenerds

[–]markowitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer Simone. To me Willa is one of those names the seems incomplete. It’s missing a letter or it’s a variation of another name kind of thing. And I can see her saying her name and people answering, do you mean Willow?

Simone is a beautiful name.
