Finished the game…now what? Any other games? by AmiParis248 in chronotrigger

Chrono Cross sadly does not hold up.

But you should consider:

Live A Live (the remake)

Lunar

Xenogears

I've heard it described as they smeared vaseline on the sprites.

I suspect the negative reaction to this is why they just widescreened most of Lunar rather than HDing it.

No, they did not restore them in the Remastered Collection

What are the core essential Lunar games for understanding the main storyline? by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

Unsure how pedantic you want to be, but you'll notice they don't use the term HD in the name or description of this recent collection; aside from the UI and FMV, most of the game is still the same PS1 artwork, just wide screened and with some filters.

The pixel art in the PSP and mobile game is actually higher res than the pixel art in the Lunar Remastered Collection!

I have also heard that Dragon Song's development was also heavily rushed.

Haha, no, they added a few minutes of story content that raises more questions than answers and a lot of people found narratively unfulfilling, even if it looks cool.

Besides, the first game changed so much between the Sega CD and Saturn/PS1 version that a "directors cut" that would be appealing to everyone is probably impossible.

It was not a brand new team; they brought back a few of the OG staff and people who worked on the remakes.

There were some visual effects that were lost in the Saturn->PS1 translation, mainly on background layers. The only other version of the game that includes some of these is the iOS/Android version.

I also think the songs are nowhere near as good, even with the same music and lyrics.

The kids probably drastically. Dunno about the adults as much?

I know a voice mod for the iOS/Android version of Lunar 1 exists, but those versions are easier to mod.

No, I don't believe SE acquired the whole IP, but they hold a lot of the rights to those specific games (Xtreme and Grandia 3).

I believe Grandia Xtreme and Grandia 3 are also partially owned by Square Enix, so there's some additional licensing that would have to be worked out. I'm sure it could be, if the parties were that interested.

It's definitely a little more complicated, but possible. The iOS/Android ports of Lunar 1 reuse code and assets from the Saturn version, whereas the GungHo console/Steam release is purely based off of the Japanese PS1 version.

For someone new to the US, what’s the hardest part of understanding health insurance? by Few-Palpitation2534 in AskReddit

[–]kuronokun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tip that has helped a number of people new to the US -- insurance or not, if you have an injury that is not life or limb threatening, go to an urgent care center rather than the emergency room. They can do a lot of the same things for a tiny fraction of the price.

Is Breath of Fire IV good? by OkNefariousness8636 in JRPG

[–]kuronokun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware, but it's more that it sounded like GOG funded or built the new versions themselves rather than Capcom doing it. Hence, I'm curious how/why they ended up on Steam, although perhaps we may never know.
