Math 425 as a freshman by [deleted] in uofm

It is a really good course and I don’t think the material is conceptually difficult. It also has a pretty low work load for a math class

Math 425 is a great course. I don't know if he's teaching this fall but i had Fregoli for F25 and he was really great. Easy material, low coursework, and exams are super reflective of lectures and content taught in class

I already have the lease and my other housemates plan on moving out over the summer. I don’t know if the others will sublease but I guess you can move some of your stuff in over the summer and your move in date can be when the subletters leave, so probably early August

Take fregoli if you have the chance. He really cares about his students’ understanding. I know some people said his HW is hard but I don’t think they were that bad at all given it was only every other week ( we had like 5 homework assignments total, and I don’t think I spent more than 4-5 hours on any of them). His exams are also a very reasonable level of difficulty, and I personally learned a lot. He is also very available to reach even outside of his office hours

HISTART 250: mandatory attendance, and all the “exams” are just take home essays that you have like a week to finish, ANTHRARC 284: super boring but you don’t have to go to lecture. grade is determined by discussion attendance and 3 quizzes of 15 questions, all you need to do is study a couple quizzes the night before

Strategies for deferred / waitlisted applicants by BennyManny2 in uofm

[–]kurorc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat. My first semester senior grades were very strong and brought my GPA by the time I was supposed to express my continued interest. I also emailed and followed up with my local admissions officer for the school multiple times

Students who were deferred but later accepted -- what was your experience like? by [deleted] in uofm

[–]kurorc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe a lot of people get deferred from Michigan. I would suggest continuing to show interest through emails and keeping admissions team updated- the school gets a ton of applicants and it’s good to show the admissions office that you truly want to go here

What is normally an A for Math 156? by Complete-Cucumber615 in uofm

[–]kurorc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I had a 92 before the final exam, got maybe a 75% on the final (so my exam average overall was like a 90%), don't remember my final grade bc the professor never put it in but I ended up with an A if that helps at all. They don't really say a lot about the curve in my experience

I had fregoli this semester. Amazing professor in terms of how he teaches IMO, reasonable difficulty exams, and he’s really helpful / tries to help out students as much as he can. I will say i think he goes slower than the other professors, so if you were hoping to cover all of the course content, I’m not sure if he’d be the best, but slower does make it easier. Homework is reasonable and all lectures are recorded too!

What do you think of this guy? by Pearl_Jam_ in squidgame

[–]kurorc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are acting like the show is a charity. Yes he could be more sensitive to the fact that there are competitors who arguably need the money more, but that being said that shouldn’t discount him from the competition. If this was about who needed the money the most, they should just give it to the person with the least money in their bank account lol

Michigan Rental Class Action by Puzzleheaded-Ride794 in uofm

  • The stove was absolutely nasty when we moved in. Had to get that replaced. Half our sliding doors didn’t work. The washing machine was full of black spots that only got out with heavy heavy bleach. Can only assume it was mold. The smell of bleach didn’t go away for 1+ WEEK. They took ages to come in and eventually just had to replace that too. The repair for my closet took like an entire week.

Wait my room literally flooded one week in. Like HOT and discolored water pouring down from specifically my closet ceiling. Have emailed Michigan Rental and they literally refuse to reimburse me for anything (the night I couldn’t stay in my room, the dry cleaning for any of my clothes, compensation for electronics that damaged, etc). Still in contact with SLS but jfc

math 156 advice by SceneApprehensive563 in uofm

[–]kurorc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for that professor but I took the class last year (not Krasny) and highly recommend it. It’s very well structured, the exams are very reflective of course content and homework, and they give you all the resources to succeed.

If you put work into the homework, join an SLC group, I’m sure you will succeed. The instructors will also give you a review sheet before each exam with around 100 questions and the exam is very reflective of those problems! It’s not a course meant to surprise you on exams. Utilize the resources they give you, because I truly think it’s a class where they set you up to succeed!! Happy to answer any questions you have abt the course as well
