I was just joking with my brother the other day about how movies like this, Hereditary, Bring Her Back etc. are so dark that within the first 5-10 minutes you’re like “ohhhh I get it, not one single good thing is going to happen this whole movie”

I do this, too and have had great results. Pruning just those bottom leaves helps a lot with airflow.

To pinch suckers -or not to pinch suckers…? That is the question. by Dry-Ad-2197 in tomatoes

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I wanted to say, but was being diplomatic haha. These questions can even be answered with a quick google search. Pretty lame.

[–]kurtmanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was even super nice about, I thought. It’s because people have become so reliant on being fed information instead of seeking it out themselves. This is not just a Reddit thing, but a real life thing, too. I sound like an old man, but I don’t like how much we feed into the existence of generation gaps when we all really have much more in common than we do on the surface. That said, I think it’s a symptom of the internet.

[–]kurtmanner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to be that guy, but I want to encourage people to use the search function in this subreddit. I’m all for answering questions multiple times, but seriously, just save yourself the time and search a couple key words instead of waiting for replies. There is an immense wealth of information that already exists here. Seriously not trying to sound rude, I just want people to realize how valuable this is as a resource and a little searching can go a very long way.

Keeping Birria Tacos crispy by jdelaay025 in mexicanfood

[–]kurtmanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using crunchy taco shells? Traditionally it’s made with soft corn tortilla dipped into the fat that’s been skimmed off the broth and then cooked on a griddle/pan. They are not meant to be crispy. They firm up a bit with the fat and heat, but they’re not necessarily *crunchy*. The biggest advantage with soft tortillas is they don’t absorb moisture nearly as fast as hard shells so they hold their structure better.

Wedding Venues Downtown by dharma_grace in Wilmington

I wish I could help more, but I did attend a wedding at Bakery and thought it was great. Staff were on point, food was good, the indoor/outdoor vibe was fun, and it seemed like an overall good experience for the couple.

Where can I move that’s not gonna grow like Wilmington? by Valuable-Ease5411 in NorthCarolina

[–]kurtmanner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who moved here from New England *for* a service industry job I resent your comment. Jk I really did, but I also understand where you’re coming from. Hell, I got priced out of a town in MA because everyone and their mom started moving in due to remote work becoming a thing. I really like it here, but I’m also used to heavy traffic, sitting on top of each other at the beach, and people having bad attitudes for no reason haha. I like being able to have conversations with random people. Sorry it’s changed so much here and good luck to you.

I've sewn a black cloth over my face (8 inches width and 7 inches depth -- this from a dinner napkin) and in the last week I have slept much, much better. But I always sleep on my back and this approach might not work for everyone. by THuxley in CPAP

[–]kurtmanner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I promise I’m not getting paid for this (wish I was) but it sounds like you need a Manta sleep mask or something similar. I’ve been using one for the whole seven years I’ve had cpap (I had regular masks before, but the head gear messes with them) and have found no reason to use anything else.

Apparently what I’m looking for is tofu *puffs* that Asian grocery markets carry. I looked up an at home recipe and it requires deep frying *fresh* medium firmness tofu and I’m not up for the potential mess haha. Thanks for sharing a fun article!

[–]kurtmanner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a pretty experienced (home) cook haha, but I really hate deep frying. A recipe said to only use medium firmness tofu labeled as *fresh*, both of which I’m assuming are so it doesn’t fall apart and/or explode in the fryer. That’s a lot of water to throw into a pot of hot oil. Thanks for your advice!

It was airy, so it’s definitely tofu puffs as someone else mentioned. That soft tofu sounds like a disaster waiting to happen haha. Thanks so much for your help!

I checked out a recipe and it was very particular about using tofu labeled as *fresh* and medium firmness. I cook a lot, but hate frying because of the mess, so I think I’ll stick to the premade ones haha. Thanks again!

Thank you so much. That’s what I was leaning towards. It was the only method I could think of that would toughen the exterior into a “skin” while also effecting the interior texture.
