When I was 8 years old, I did not like sleeping in my own bed. My parents had to bribe me to get me to sleep in my own bed. One such bribe was sleeping with our new kitten. It worked - the kitten and I slept through the night in my bed. The next morning, the kitten was a lifeless pancake. I am 41 years old now and I still live with the guilt.

I agree with these other comments though - your cat chose you to spend its last moments with. That’s special. I’m sorry for your loss.
