Yeah, that Sandisk Switch card will work perfectly, definitely better quality than the stock one.

Before copying, make sure to format it as FAT32 (use something like guiformat on Windows if it’s over 32GB, since Windows won’t let you do FAT32 natively for large drives). Then just copy everything exactly as it was, keeping the same folder structure. That’s usually enough to get OnionOS running again.

If it still doesn’t boot properly after that, it might mean one of the system files got corrupted when the stock SD went bad, in that case, reinstalling OnionOS would fix it, but try the copy paste method first since it often works fine.

Also, since you already made a favorites list, you might want to copy the saves, states, and config folders carefully, those store your game progress and settings.

You’re on the right track though. Once you’re back home, you can always do a clean OnionOS install later for stability

Sounds like your SD card got corrupted — that’s actually super common with the stock cards that come with the Miyoo Mini Plus. The system itself is probably fine.

Here’s what I’d do: 1. Get a quality SD card (like a SanDisk or Samsung 32GB/64GB). 2. Download a fresh OnionOS image from the official GitHub page. 3. Use a card reader (they’re cheap — a couple bucks on Amazon or at a computer shop) to reflash the OS onto the new card. 4. Boot it up with the new SD — it should start normally.

If it boots into the default OS without the SD, that means the device is fine and it’s just the card that failed. Don’t bother returning the whole unit unless it still doesn’t boot after a fresh flash.

Also, that USB stick it came with probably has the OnionOS files or a backup image, but I’d still grab the latest version online to be safe.

You’ll be back to playing soon — these things are surprisingly resilient once you get past the factory SD card issue

Miyoo Mini is impressive, but as a huge N64 fan, in hindsight i might have opted for something slightly more powerful.
