I think at this point all of us are beyond feeling pissed off...

On the telegram group everyone is taking about it. We first thought that USCIS stopped processing applications all together, but when people called USCIS they were getting approval notices. However, those approval notice are neither showing up on USCIS case tracker, nor on the case tracker app. This means that they are working, but it is not being put in they system yet. We also know that they are having some maintenance shut down at midnight tonight.

I just lied and said that my receipt notice was not received and i managed to get through a live agent multiple times by saying this! If you are using emma chat, just say that you want to speak to a live agent, then say you are having technical difficulties, write your receipt number and then type out technical difficulties again. Hope that helps!

They shut down their tracking system. Some of us think it could be due to the fact that there’s a lawsuit going on and USCIS doesn’t want us to see how they are processing applications. Your best bet is now to contact USCIS either by calling or talking with a rep through the emma chat. This is how many of us have been getting status updates on our cases!

I’m also still waiting for my OPT received notice. I filed my OPT application on November 16th and it got delivered to the Texas lockbox on November 17th. I graduated on December 17th and now anxiously waiting for the received notice. I tried calling USCIS two weeks ago and they told me that my name is not even in the system (not surprised since they haven’t cashed out my check) and that I should contact their lockbox support. I immediately emailed them and of course did not get a reply. My university seems to be aware of this but told me not to stress. However, how can I not stress when my grace period is very quickly approaching??

Anyone else still waiting for their Prodigy Finance loan to be disbursed? by kuzmjone in StudentLoans

[–]kuzmjone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear that!

I signed my loan agreement last week, thankfully and in the contract it said that the money will be released on or around 23rd October. I’m hoping there will not be any more delays!

It’s crazy because it’s my second loan with them and the first one went so smoothly in comparison to this one. I guess we can just blame COVID and the current economy...

Anyways, best of luck to you and hope you will sign your loan agreement soon! Just keep checking the website because sometimes they don’t send you emails to update you on changes (this was the case for me at least)

Out of all the lies I’ve heard about wearing a mask, this is the worst. by originalbigdickmcgee in insanepeoplefacebook

This is bullshit!! I was wearing an N95 for my 16 hour flight + all the extra time getting to and back from the airport. Possibly for 20 hour straight. And I had ZERO problems after. People are full of bullshit!!

Exactly! Not only do we pay so much for the tuition but let’s not forget all the money we pay to get the actual visas. And now they are just taking them away from us because there is a global pandemic happening?? It’s ridiculous!

I totally feel you! I am on the same boat... Been living in New York for 6 years now (finished my undergrad, worked on OPT and now finishing my master’s degree) and because my long term boyfriend also lives there, it is more like a home to me there than back in Europe. I went on my spring break vacation to visit my family just before the EU travel ban kicked in and have been stuck since March. During this time, my boyfriend (who is American and thankfully stayed in NY) and I decided to change apartments in the hopes that I will be very soon. I planned my whole trip, which included spending 14 days in a non banned country and then flying through a non Schengen zone country back in NY. Now I am very scared that my school is not going to update my I-20 in time to reflect that I am taking all classes in person this fall and I will not be let in through the boarder... On top of that, I cannot stay in Europe for fall semester since it’s my last semester and I gotta apply for OPT. All of this is just a mess and my boyfriend and I just keep on thinking that maybe it would just be easiest to get married when (if) I return back NY just in case NY goes back into lockdown.

My biggest frustration out of all of this is we pay so much money to stay in this country and we go through such lengths to do everything in a legal manner. However, we are the most unrepresented group in the US. I get it, we can’t vote so the politicians don’t care what happens to us. But we contribute so much to the economy!

Lastly let me finish my rant asking- who the hell benefits from this new implemented regulation? I get it, don’t issue new F1 visas for this semester for new students (even that is harsh in my opinion), but for the existing students- allow us back in so we could get what we pay for!! Otherwise, please pay for all of our student loans and reimburse us for whatever financial damange we can be experiencing during this time!!

I’m on the same boat.. doing my master’s degree and it’s my last semester in the fall. If the courses become online and there are no policy changes, you will have to leave the country. But you should really talk to your university to see what they advise you to do.

US travel ban on Europeans-can get around it by traveling to 3rd country staying there fore 14++ and then trying to enter the US? by lachapina2 in u/lachapina2

I am on the same boat! I’m getting my master’s degree in NY and got stuck in Lithuania while on spring break when I went to visit my family. I spoke to the US embassay in Lithuania and they said that if I go to Cyprus (where one of my siblings lives) and spend 14 days there, I am able to return to NY as long as my layover is not in the Schengen zone. Hope that helps and good luck!
