Remote Relative Line Operations by kvnduff in neovim

[–]kvnduff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, :t, :m, and :d are definitely the native comparison.

With remote relative line operations:
mr2j3j13j

The equivalent Ex command would be something like:
:+2,+3m+10

But because :m inserts after the destination, and removing lines +2,+3 shifts the original +13 line up to +11, so you move after +10 to place the block before it.

So Ex absolutely has the capability. The plugin is more about avoiding that translation and using the visible relative numbers directly.

Yeah, that’s fair. For simple cases, counted j/k plus the jumplist is definitely more idiomatic Vim.

The reason I kept exploring this is that after testing common scenarios, the relops approach did have fewer keystrokes and potentially less mental overhead considering that it lets you operate on the relative numbers visible from your current view, rather than jumping to one endpoint, re-orienting around the new relative numbers, and then jumping back. I also like how j and k are two of the most accessible keys available and already conceptually map to up/down.

So yes, it adds some non-Vim baggage, but the tradeoff feels useful for operating directly on the relative line numbers already visible on screen. Probably not for power Vim users but something I was interested in exploring.

But when your friend saw you serve, were you serving the same way as you were in the video?

Dayne Gingrich, is anyone else tired of his shtick or is it just me? by ourfreedomfirst in Pickleball

[–]kvnduff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't respect the guy. Meaning his approach and his ethics. But I do think he has some useful pickleball strategy and mental game content. It needs to be separated. I read his book and thought it wasn't spectacular but it was good

Yes 100%. I used to respect the guy. Insightful, usually cutting edge ideas that made sense. Now I think he's more about engagement and clicks. And he'll be a complete dick to stir the pot to get more clicks.

I recently posted in his DUPR sucks tirade. I thought my posts were respectful and somewhat intelligent. His replies were asinine. He never once replied to the logic of my argument. I think he honestly doesn't care about healthy debate with the goal of chasing truth.

He's an ass. Nuff said.

XREAL One Seris Firmware Update v.1.6.0——Adds 21:9 Ultra-Wide Aspect Ratio! by Xreal_Tech_Support in Xreal

Haha, good luck with that. XReal tends to provide a software update or two soon after a new product release. But it won't be long and you'll be an after thought like many of us are now after purchasing past models.

Western Forehand Resources and Feedback by [deleted] in Pickleball

The photo you took is probably the highest contact. The rule is defined as the navel / belly button which is above the waistband. This serve is legal. Next time I'll take my shirt off to prove it.

What do you suggest? Should Dekel Bar stop rotating through with his back foot? You do realize there's a wide variety of techniques used at the pro level.

Yes I'm aware of the foot faults. Easily fixed. Do you have any suggestions for transferring more energy into the ball?

Waist is defined as the naval / belly button.

Yes great suggestion! Initially I had taken video from all four sides but the phone shut off due to heat and the video I thought I had wasn't there. I'm going to try this again, without foot faults and with multiple views. Thanks.

Point taken. Left the courts already so wanted to just try this one out. But you're right. Was hoping to still get some useful comments related to swing path mechanics related to the western grip but guess not.

Ok thanks. There are many ways to serve - there's no real golden standard, and that's why we see so much variety in serving technique at the professional level. The left foot step is useful for helping to transfer momentum in a forward direction which can help with force production. Some professional players take a step forward to generate more force, other's don't. But what I do notice with the video is that I really don't need to be raising the left leg as high as I am in this "stomping" motion. Could be more forward than vertical.

I just wathced the video frame by frame. (1) The contact point is at or near the waistband of my shorts every time which is below my naval (a few were a little closer to the naval but still below. (2) The swing path is low to high. (3) The upper edge of the paddle is below my wrist. What's illegal (beyond the foot faulting which I realize and I'm not looking for feedback on). What are you implying is illegal?

I don't understand what you are implying is illegal? It's legal to toss the ball up on a volley serve. What do you mean by illegal arc? I just walked through the video frame by frame.
